Hydroponic Lettuce For beginner AT Home

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

how to lettuce hydroponic at home :
today I'm showing you how to grow lettuce at home hydroponically
Growing lettuce ( lactuca sativa) hydroponically
it's an amazing experience and learning process
Today I'm sharing with you my experience
And the mistakes that i made , so that you Don't make the same mistake
I'm going to germinate them in plastic container
and paper towel
Place them About half inch apart from each other after over the container with clear plastic wrap ,keep them in shade place , not in direct sun light make sure that the paper towel always moist .Once the seedlings have a few leaves on them, you can put them in a small net pot, stabilize with clay pellets and put them in your system
I'm using plastic Pail as Reservoir Add A & B solution
2- Transfer the Seedlings to the system Here I made a mistake
I transferred the seedlings to the system very early
I should wait 3 to 4 weeks ,I recommend to use Rockwool Cube , much easier, I'm using My DIY hydroponic system and I bought this 24 H Plug Timer, i set it 15 min on and 15 min off you can check Operation Instructions
Quick look ! What's going on inside {check the roots } after 0ne week in the system i see At this stage I noticed the seedlings growing more to length
then I made another mistake made Not enough lighting for the seedlings
So I changed the place where more sunlight after that didn't wait so long to see a good result Fast growing leafy greens .
Lettuce is a favorite crop among hydroponic growers. And being one of the easiest crops to grow hydroponically, it is a great vegetable to start with as a beginner. And that’s what this website is geared towards!
Hydroponic lettuce is easy to maintain, it grows fast and doesn’t take up much space. Which makes it easy to be grown in a controlled environment.
Hydroponic lettuce is a leafy vegetable that is not supposed to go all the way to the flowering phase.
That being the case, its nutrient solutions are simple and they don’t need to change at any point over its growing season
my mistakes :
- transfer the seedlings early .
- I placed the system where not enough sunlight .
WHAT IS HYDROPONICS?
Hydroponics is a system of growing plants in water without soil.
Plants receive their necessary nutrients through the hydroponic fertilizer that’s added to water.
The plant roots are stabilized in clay pellets or perlite, coconut coir, or rice hulls instead of soil.
LIGHT REQUIREMENTS FOR GROWING LETTUCE
Lettuce is a cool-season plant, so it can grow outdoors in mild winter areas in an area that receives a full day of sun.

Just a tip.. you should add the A & B first (or whatever food/fertilizer program you are using), and then pH balance to desired pH... The nutrients can affect the pH, so it may be wasteful to pH the water first.

Really nice video! Very useful for starters. Two recommendations, first the video is really cool but a bit slow, iwatched it at 1.25 speed and it plays much better as a watching experience. Second for everyone copying the system know that his is not a true NFT(nutrient film technique) there is too much water here I the pipes, 2 liters per minute is the right amount if I'm not mistaken, this creates a small film of nutrient solution in the bottom of the pipes, the netcups should rest touching the bottom so the ruts can extend there and catch nutrient solution. But really nice video, keep it up!

Can you please provide the details of how you built the hydroponic system shown in the video? Also, what is the spacing of the holes for the net cups? What is the diameter of the holes for the net cups? I use totes now, using the Kratky method. Although it has been productive, I can see that your system will be superior, and easier to manage. Thanks!

What are the things that you punt in the plastic containers and why do you put them in there. How does the hydroponic garden work and how much water should be flowing through. Also, can you link those little containers in the video. By the way how and why do you put that cotton/plastic film on the roots, and how do you do that. Thank you if you answer any of these questions, I am a beginner to hydroponics and getting the fundamentals of hydroponics.

What pump timing have you found works best? 15min on 15 off or I see you mentioned 30 on 30 off in an answer. What is best have you found? It is strange here in the states as there is little info on this type of system where drain is in middle of pipe. This is not NFT but more of a DFT system I think. Seems to work great but no information here in US about pump timing. Thanks.

"A & B fertilizer" typically refers to a two-part nutrient system used in hydroponic or soilless growing. When mixed together, these components provide a balanced nutrient solution for plants' growth.

EC : electrical conductivity a measure of a material's ability to transport an electrical current . The conductivity of a nutrition solution can be used as an estimate of fertilizer concentration .

Hi ! A simple question. Once a pod is ready to harvest, Is it best to extract it all and start a new pod with a new seed afterward. Or you can just cut a bunch of lettuce and let it regrowth again in the same pod, same roots ?

Hi there ! the best is to start a new seed ... if you keep regrowing you will get a bitter taste .

You can transfer the seedlings from dirt to Hydroponic , wash out the roots to remove all the dirt before transferring them to Hydroponic system.
