I use it to keep minnows lively much longer in small bucket, this works. Next time you reach the weigh-in and have dead fish, just go ahead set your mind to stop and get you some Hydrogen Peroxide and see for yourself.

Works on same principle as oxygen tabs. What are oxygen tablets made of? Liquid oxygen is the name of a product that is a solution of hydrogen peroxide and other compounds including sodium chloride (common salt)

how often would you have to add 1 oz per 3 gallons to keep oxygen in the water? say for example I have 200 creek chubs or suckers in the three to four inch range in my bait tank?

He has since passed. Maybe someone else knows but I was afraid to try this in a tournament so bought 3 dozen minnows and was in a form bucket. I put one drop in water. Very little. 15 minutes they where all dead

Doesn't mean the peroxide killed them. Maybe you used chlorinated tap water, maybe water was too warm, maybe they were shiners that die easy, maybe you didn't have an airstone as well, maybe you didn't mix...etc...etc

Hydrogen Peroxide is actually toxic, however our cells and I guess fish cells produce an enzyme called catalase that breaks down H2O2 into the H2O and O2. That being said, when you pour hydrogen peroxide on an open wound the foaming bubbles you see isn't bacteria being killed rather your body breaking down the h2o2 into water and oxygen.

And the reason people think it hurts is because an open wound it's exposed to oxygen in the air and it causes the pain. Putting a bandaid on eliminates exposure to the oxygen. H2O2 puts more oxygen in the wound making it hurry a little more. Doesn't last long though

@@jarodmorris611 False on Hydrogen Peroxide on a wound to make heal faster. It actually does the opposite. The Hydrogen peroxide actually kills bacteria/pathogens through oxygen burst (too much oxygen) but it will also kill your good tissue. Hydrogen Peroxide should only be used on the initial injury if used at all.

Adding H2O2 to a bait bucket makes sense I guess. Hydrogen peroxide is generally only used in aquariums to clean algae or kill parasites, not to oxygenate the water. They all use bubblers for oxygenation. Seems to me, adding oxygen to water is easy and free. You can add a few additional Oxygen molecules to water with H2O2, but as the fish breathe, they will use it fairly quickly, and then you have to add more hydrogen peroxide, (H2O2). Approximately every 30-60 minutes per gallon of water. OR, you can run your recirc and add 21% O2 all day, for free...

I put about on drop of it in my minnow bucket and bought 3 dozen minnows and with-in a hour they where all dead. put in a very small amount. lake temp was 84. wont swear the hyd perox did it or bad batch of minnows. I will try it in a livewell but not in a tournament.

I pured some in my bait cooler very little and in an 5 minutes all 24 minnows were dead. Not sure what happened but they were good prior to doing it. I use an created Engle 19 Cooler.I pure maybe an ounce.

Using such warm water might be a challenge even with the perfect amount of H2O2, but I've read that warm water contains less dissolved oxygen. Given you used barely at all, maybe using more would have been more helpful. Unfortunately (for the minnows especially), there's only one way to find out. I'd be curious to know how it goes.

Something to consider (that I've read, not tested for myself) - during summer afternoons the warm surface water has less dissolved oxygen than the deeper cooler water where the bass prefer to be at that time. We may never know - maybe big H2O2 corporate propaganda got to me :P
