It would have been nice if they had a career mode or some world championship tournament.

I like how they have a systems check during loading and one of the items is cupholder, responding with "cupholder is a go!" XD This game had so much fun with itself and it makes it that much better of an arcade experience.

Sadly, the PS2 port doesn't have the loading screen sfx. I had to take it from the PS1 port and put it in this gameplay. The PS2 port seems lacking a lot of stuffs too.

Not just the bowling alley, the movie theater as well. I almost missed a movie because I drew in a crowd and lost track of time. The throttle, pedals and steering wheel are so fun to use.

I can't believe all these years later I'm just learning about some of these short cuts damn!

My local joint had Hydro Thunder. And the operators had the ‘free race for 1st place’ option enabled. There were some days I’d only spend 50c on that game and race for an hour. Good times

What most people don't realize is Hydro Thunder has two sequels.... H2Overdrive(which can be played via Teknoparrot) and Hydro Thunder Hurricane(XBLA Xbox 360 game that can be emulated on PC via Xenia or played on Xbox 360). I have all three games and Hydro Thunder and Hurricane are the best and H2Overdrive is a distant second because it only has about half the content as the other two games.

Yeah, you need luck with Artic Circle's shortcuts. When you're in the tunnel, you need to rock left and right to make your boat slide faster, which is really difficult.

You make it look easy! Still one of my absolute favorite games to this day.

They seem to have changed how the A.I. works in the MAT3 ports especially on XBox and PC. Making it more dependent on how many shortcuts you master than how fast you go overall. Could finish a race in 1:51 but end up in 3rd because I missed a few shortcuts, but then win the race in 1:57 the next run because I managed to hit enough shortcuts and secrets. Also the Xbox version breaks the loading screen dialogue. My cup holders are no longer go.

HYDROOO THUUNNDERRR! Man this brings back memories. Between playing this and Dino Crisis, I could waste an entire weekend. Maybe switch to Dave Mirra BMX on the ps2 for a bit then its back to this one. What a time to be alive.

Man I used to play this all the time at this old, long gone, burger joint.

Nile Adventure has to be my favorite race course across all arcade racing games because of how much the devs seemed to have fun developing that course.

One of the only games i know for dream cast that can still hold its own weight even in 2020 this is one of these game you can relive the fun over in over i love this game.

I used to go to the arcade sometimes as a kid and this was my favorite game. Hadn't thought about it in a long time and couldn't even remember what it was called, so I typed in "speedboat racing arcade game," lol. So much nostalgia here.

I remember playing this on the arcade machines that were linked with my dad when I was 10. The Egyptian map was always my favorite with the stars!

I remember back in like 2008 i had a ps2 with a steering wheel and a basic controller and me and my friend (we were like 7/8 then) were playing this game all the time, good old days.

I used to play the arcade machine for this at a local 50's themed diner that had a small arcade at the front with this game.

In Trinidad 🇹🇹 when I went high school they distributed laptops to us. I went home one day and saw a stupid ad which I clicked and download this game. I was hooked ever since. Even though they told us we couldn't download anything other than school programs

It really was. Alot of games today are open world and directionless. With focus on online play. Most games now are released broken and are patched later on. This game has a beginning and a end is released perfect on launch day.

How do you even get the super start with the extra boost? I can pull it in the arcade but on console i just get the hydro jump super start, i don't get the extra boost

Nostalgia this game

there was an ice skating center in colorado that had this. I managed to get ALL the top times in lake powell, hydro speedway, and thunder park with the blowfish... before they replaced the machine with a glitchy as heck Cruis'n Exotica. out of the Thunder racing games, Hydro thunder was the best, hands down.

I remember back then when i found this game in an emulator at the bowling alley and always spent countless time with it! It was an amazing experience! Recently i was trying to remember the name of the game and then i stepped in you're video and after that i downloaded it cracked on my computer! Nonethless, great gameplay and shortcuts! :D By the way, since you are still active, would be appreciated if you could check out my first upload about a huge and unexpected shortcut at artic circle that i did by myself! And i ask you that because we do quite similiar content! :P

True, it has the best boat handling and the only port that has Career Mode.

Funnily enough the ps2 version is missing a map and has the music for castle van dandy altered.

8 TRACK CASSETTE PLAYER NO GO

The Bonus Boats are included in this game, at least I think so. You just need to input a cheat code after setting a new top record after placing 1st on any race. Type in the initial "?PB" after finishing 1st & being on the top record, and the bonus boats, along with the other content, should be unlocked. If this doesn't work, that's strange, because my Midway Arcade Treasures 3 has the bonus boats.

Tidal blade is the best boat because it's the easiest to control. The hard boat is almost not worth it because the hard control will make you miss a lot of turbos

Yeah man. I added the in-game music. I recorded the Main Menu music from the in-game Music volume options. Same with the loading screen, I took it from PS1 loading SFX and added it in this port to get that 'nostalgia trip', If you know what I mean :)

@@t_man7259 I like PS1 because that's the only port that has 'Career Mode' and good boats handling but the graphic is horrible even if you play it on epsxe with tweak graphic settings. If you like to play the Career Mode, play it on PS1. If you just want to play the best Arcade port, that would be Dreamcast. Initially, I want to make a playthrough on the PS1 port using the Damn the Torpedoes boat but I scraped that idea since no one did a complete PS2 port playthrough on KZread :)
