Hydraulic Press vs. Angel Juicer
Ғылым және технология
www.eujuicers.com Two "best juice yield" juicers, Norwalk Hydraulic Press and the Angel juicer, tested head to head with 1000g carrots, apples, oranges and 680g of leafy greens. At Minute 14:55 2 bags are used simultaneously!

I have both juicers and I can tell you that the Norwalk juice does not have any fibers and very easy to digest. The Angel juice has a small amount of fiber that you would not recognized if you did not have a Norwalk. However both juicers are very good and the juices from both taste the same. I cannot find that one is better than the other. We use the Angel to juice big amounts and the Norwalk for smaller amounts. Cleanup is easy for both. I find that I can get more juice from the Angel.
Many people watching this video have or are considering purchasing an expensive juicer. I certainly appreciate being able to see them in action. Thank you for your efforts on this video.
The apple demo at around 16:50 shows it all. There's less oxygenation with the angel juicer. I'm happy that I bought this.
It is a shame that you guys did not stack the bags before pressing. I would have liked to see the juice from the Angel juicer pored into the bag from the Norwalk and then pressed to see the actual amount of pulp left in the juice from the Angel.
thank you for testing these two great juicers. If I had to do it all over again I would still buy the angel juicer. It suits my needs perfectly. I know it was a big investment but I weighed my life verses the cost. I juice almost twice a day and what I spend in veggies compared to what my friends and family spends in veggies when they juice. I tell you I have paid for my juiceer in the last 5 years and that juicer is still like the day I bought it.
Hi, no need to regret your choice. We still believe Norwalk is a good juicer as the juice quality is the best - it produces the cleanest juice from all juicers.

It might have been interesting to run the pulp from the Norwalk through the Angel machine just to see if any more juice would be extracted.
We have been told the same by Norwalk and Gerson, so we made a new video for them which is private. Even with 2 bags and juicing the pulp twice with NW, the result was that Angel made more juice). If you gave us your email we will send you the link to this video.
euJuicer, Mailbrown is correct. You are to press TWO BAGS AT ONE TIME. Not two bags separately, which is what I saw multiple times throughout the entire video. That is classical mechanics guys, (more mass will result in more force and therefore more juice). It is a very informative video, but would of been impressive if you had followed the manufacturer's instructions.
This was a very helpful video, thank you for your hard work.
what would be the best juicer to use with the welles press for maximum yield ?
Great video. still researching for the best juicer and these were 2 of the 4 I have narrowed down to. What model Angel are you using for this test?
Is the Angel Juicer adding any heat to the juicing process? Because if so, it's taking away the enzymes in the produce.
Thanks for the great video! Very helpful and honest.
please give me your thoughts on Norwalk. i. have an Omega Nc right now. looking to invest in Norwalk. By the way is Norwalk a Commercial juicer????
I've used my Norwalk for over 20 years and love it. How does the taste compare? I can see there is going to be a lot of very fine particular pulp in the Angel juice and that will undoubtedly affect the taste.
Gentlemen, thank you for your work. I have wanted at NWJ for quite some time, but for now I think I will go with the SA. Eventually I will get a NWJ. They both are great.

The SA is a pain to use and every person I let use it tends to not like it. The Green Star has been much more preferred by everyone I know over the SA. Although I have 2 Norwalks and strongly feel that's the best juicer. One option is to use a Champion with a Welles peoples press. Use the solid plate with the champion and drill holes in one half of the plate to make it look like swiss cheese. This will work to make the pulp you can use to press and the holes will allow the pulp to push out there rather than building up a tremendous amount of friction and heat without the holes.
Was looking for this comparison. I believe more juice means more nutrient extraction. I thought hydraulic pressure would cause less oxidation, but it seems twin auger juicer is better at this - look at the apple juice colour. Press mechanism does seem to give more clear juice. I think it would be great for nice and clear pomegranate juice.
Hi, I've seen this juicer with 2 "screen" options and as I'm a novice have this question. Can the default screen which comes with the machine handle nuts as well, or is it an absolute necessity to buy the second 'special' nut screen? If the first screen can't do nuts would nuts somehow damage the screen? Thanks.
The reason is the strainer for the angel is not fine enough of a strainer. Norwalk is using a bag to strain so it catches more pulp. The angel juicer has way more pulp but the metal strainer is not catching the small size of the particles. That is why the norwalks pulp weighs a lot more

do u know of a quality fine strainer ?
For those who is wondering why thr big juicer in black juices less than angel it is because the BAGS already sip all the extra juice that should have been directly extracted like angels. Now you know why! :D I hope this helps

Good point. Absorption is a factor.
If you look closely at the video, we did use 2 bags a couple times and we also used one bag. This is something that Norwalk also told us directly after seeing the video but what about the people who juice for perhaps only one person and at that particular moment, arent juicing enough to fill 2 bags? Tough luck or how does that work?
The Angel juice always looks more colorful. The press seems to take some of the vitality out of the juice via absorption.
The foam isn't the greatest indicator of oxidation. But the foam portion does have a little bit of oxidation in it. But those three models (Angel, VRT, and 8004/8006) I mentioned previously don't have the much foam in them so it doesn't make that big of a difference. Angel is the best and you can try rejuicing the pulp through it or rejuicing with a 4000 pound pressure hydraulic press, which you can also use the hydraulic press with the VRT and 8004/8006.
I didn't read all the comments so sorry if this is a redundant question, but... is there any comparison of the actual nutrient and enzyme counts of the two juices? The Angel seems to produce more juice, but how does the nutrient and enzyme count compare?
Thanks for your comment! Juice yield is of course one of the most important criterias for anyone who wants to buy a juicer (or at least it should be) but one other thing which is way up on the list of priorities is cleaning. Greenstar asked us many times to advertise the magnet technology but it was never possible for us to obtain concrete data from an independant source where the gears are used with magnets and without magnets to see what the true benefits are. Not saying it doesnt work!
Skvělé video, díky moc !
Thanks. Can you let me know if there is any weight difference between Angel 7500 and 8500 model?
If you were going to buy a juicer for home with the goal of juicing greens, vegetables and fruit, wheatgrass would be a bonus. Which juicer would you buy?
I have the Angel 5500 for almost 3 years. It's great machine for most produce. However, when it comes to soft fruit, doesn't seem to juice well. It clogs up quickly. Tell me,are you able to juice oranges so efficiently? I would love to be able to juice oranges with the whites on them.
You are absolutely right! We spoke with Gerson and we are ready to make the tests and wait for more information on what should be tested. Once we get any reply we will get it tested in independent laboratory.
Thanks for the great video. I have an Angel and love it. Run the pulp through a second time with the Angel and you will be amazed at how much more juice you will get, making it even better ! If I juice and get one quart, I will get another 2-3 ounces by running it through again, and it takes less than a minute and it goes through without using the push rod. I did notice how brown the apple juice was produced through the Norwalk. Thanks again.
The giveaway is how much pulp is left in the jug after its poured through the strainer 4:57 , regardless of how much the strainer catches (which is only a fraction of the total).
Hi, what would lead you to believe that? The yield produced or the lack of is completely from the efficiency of the juicer. The oxidation (high revs) only has to do with the quality of the juice.
I am curious to see how well the blank (nut butter) housing works on produce with a manual press. Then you will get a clean juice with the SA. Have you tried that?
what is the elapsed real time to juice each of 1kg of carrots, 1kg of oranges, and 1kg of apples in the angel juicer? thanks
Hi Tahiti, less than with the Green Star which you are using but more than with the NW. The AJ really has the thinnest juice compared to any juicer with auger(s), but as mentioned, the bags on the NW give a pulp free juice. This is not possible with juice directly from any juicer with an auger.
I have a collection of juicers: a Norwalk, an Acme (old centrifuge type) and an Omega 8006. I am sure the Angel is a fine juicer, but it looks to me that the comparison to the Norwalk is biased in favor of the Angel in that the Norwalk juicer bag used appears to be new and bone dry. A dry bag will absorb a measurable quantity of juice. I always wet with water and thoroughly squeeze my juicer bags and cloths before using with the Norwalk. That way they don't absorb, and thus waste, any of the juice produced. Also, I don't know the reason behind the physics, but I always get more total juice from the Norwalk when using two bags at a time (as recommended by the Norwalk manual) rather than one bag each time I press. My only gripe about the Norwalk is the mess and cleanup time. And if you don't have flecks on your ceiling, you are not using your Norwalk. (Carrots are by far the worst offender in the Norwalk kick-back category.) Ceiling cleanup therefore is a often a part of my juicing routine. Being quick with the pusher or a hand over the feed tube helps minimize ceiling splatter. But for a quick juice-rinse-and-go at breakfast, my mom's Breville is the quickest and easiest. With the Norwalk, I don't even think about juicing unless I can devote at least a hour or more to making the juice and the cleanup. Of course, I make it in bulk for storage for up to 3 days in glass air tight containers so the total time probably averages out about the same. All in all, I do love my Norwalk best of all.

Great comment!
Not really a fair comparison, as you did not juice correctly in the Norwalk juicer. With the Norwalk you should juice 2 full cloths at a time to maximize juice yield. Try it again correctly.
I recently received my angel 7500. It took me 2 years to decide between the Norwalk and the angel! As this is the beginning of my transition to the vegan and juicing lifestyle I decided to got with the angel because of the price. The Norwalk would have cost about $3100CAD compared to the $1400 I spent because I live in Canada (shipping, customs, duties and currency conversion ). I used it today for the first time and I love it. Its very easy to use and take apart for cleaning. The juice tastes wonderful especially in comparison to lower priced options. Yield is great. Pulp very dry. All in all I'm quite pleased. I do however, eventually plan to add a Norwalk to my kitchen one day :-)
I just wanted to see if you could extract any more juice from the Super Angel with a Welles Press. Or can you extract any more juice from the Super Angel by running the pulp through the Super Angel again a 2nd, 3rd, and 4th time which might be more effective than putting it through a hydraulic press since the Super Angel is the most efficient juicer on the market. Then you'd use a hydraulic press with several of those low rpm juicers with what brands of them you carry.
In the future, it might be better to run both juices through the Norwalk bags as a sieve. This would make for a more accurate comparison since it really seemed as if the juice out of the AJ contained a lot more pulp. You can tell from just the color of the juices, especially the apple. The NW produced a nice dark apple cider color, while the AJ retained the green from the peel.
THANKS FOR ANOTHER GREAT VIDEO!
May we ask for which reason(s)? I mean, there are literally over 50 single auger low rpm juicers on the market. We were literally being asked for over a year by countless viewers and subscribers to do the angel vs norwalk which we were finally able to do. We have also compared the angel with various low rpm single and twin gear juicers in videos.
Juicing and pressing machine yields less juice than the juicing juicer?
One question looking for a cold press juicing machine do you have a top 4
What about the high revs that are needed in order to grind the produce before the Norwalk can press? The high revs, be it from a centrifugal juicer or anything else is not modern juicing for reasons that should not need to be explained.
Thank you for interesting comment. We plan to make nutrition tests so these should prove if you were right or wrong.
Very good question indeed! Personally we feel that this is the case with the Norwalk but there is no independant test results to verify this.
I wonder where all the grams are going to? They evaporate to the air? Maybe the additional weight/ volume the Angel is producing comes by oxygen from the air (see foam on the surface).
Has there been any independent study done on the nutritional value of Norwalk juicer vs. the Super Angel? It appears there is more yield with Super Angel but I would be curious to know which juicer extracts more nutrition. The 2 factors to consider are the high revolutions of the Norwalk triturator (I wonder if that destroys any of the enzymes) and the air that is mixed into the twin gear masticating Angel juicer (I noticed there is more foam in the juice produced from Super Angel). Any input would be greatly appreciated. I am trying to decide between the Norwalk and the Super Angel and will be making a purchase in the next few days.

I've used both juicers extensively and prefer the Norwalk. You can feel the difference in energy and life between the two juices. The Angel provides a quality juice but the Norwalk by far has the best quality juice.
Can you please tests angel juicer with raspberry/blackberry, currant and strawberry :) thx
How did the Norwalk make less juice and less pulp? Makes no sense unless there was pulp in the Angel juice that was small enough to fit through the screen & strainer but nonetheless contributed to the overall volume.
what model norwalk are you using?
Hi, we have asked factory and they say there is 5-10g difference (8500S is heavier).
It would seem that the AJ using the grinding housing along with a manual press would yield a superior juice. Don't know if anyone has tried it yet.
Hi, we used old 5500 but 7500 would deliver the same results.
Hi Chad, we replied to your comment on our facebook page as well. Please have a close look at minute 3:00. Here 2 bags were used as well as later in the video as well.
Great job!
I'm trying to figure out the numbers in the orange test. The weight of the oranges (juice + pulp) was 887g with Norwalk. The Angel was 947g not including the pulp in the machine.
Thank you for the video! I would like to see Pure vs Angel juicers now
@euJUICERScom

Unfortunately the PURE juicer is not available here in Europe.
How much do these two machines weigh?
After many months of researching juicers, especially ones that juice vegetables and leafy greens, considering I eat my fruits and juice my veggies; the Angel Juicer became the only choice. Surprisingly enough, the machine is better than I expected when it comes to juice yield, superior end quality and the ease of washing and putting it back together again. I generally use the Angel juicer twice a day. I would however strongly urge to purchase the pusher with the silicon ring around it especially if you're mixing mushy fruits such as soft pears and apples amongst your vegetables or leafy greens.

How does Angel juicer compare to slow juicers like hurom or omega? I currently have the hurom and considering upgrading.

I bought the Hurom700 for my parents due to it's price bracket. Unfortunately, we've returned it back to the distributor because the plastic components cannot handle dry leafy greens very well, caused clogging and pulp in the juice container separate from the pulp container. I'm looking at getting another angel juicer for my parent. I hope this helps.
I'd be interested in seeing the Norwalk vs. all of the low rpm juicers/press combo comparison for juice extraction.
Excellent, thank you. I like that Angel machine, but reluctant to pull the trigger on purchase as I’d be dealing with a lot of celery, also parseley stems, extremely fibrous. I once burned an immersion blender with parseley, fibers wrapped around the shaft and the motor burned. I now know to chop those vegetables first. Wo uld it be possible to have a video showing the Angel 7500 working celery? whole ribs or chopped? thank you.

We just tested celery on the four main types of juices. You can see an Angel 8500 (functionally the same as the 7500) juicing celery at the 11:00 mark of this video: kzread.info/dash/bejne/gG2au7mKeZaydaw.html
Great and informative video! thanks!
Also to get the most juice you need to use two bags at a time in the NWJ. You would definitely get more juice.
Hey super juicer! Love your videos ... I have a question about juicers , I have many up right and twin gear juicers but I never seen a video of the Samson super wheatgrass single juicer. Each video I have seen is pictures not how good the machine works. Can you make a video of one in action :-) Yours truly Robert Meekins GOD bless...
Thanks, glad you like it :-)
Did you use Angel 5500 or 7500?
Nice job. Thank you.
Thanks guys, outstanding video. Im currently struggling on what to buy. To me, this demonstrates a classic quality vs quantity. The SA juice produces more but it always looks a little swampy. It has a froth and film that just lingers. The juice from the Norwalk looks so smooth and clean. Yum! I guess it's a personal preference, but man the Norwalk juice looks so much better. But ughh... that price tag.
Call me a dinosaur........after all these years I still got my trusty Champion, but no doctor.
Did you watch the entire video? We did use 2 bags. We also used 1 bag to show the results here. We believe that there are people who will want to see this as well. Not everybody juices 2 bags every time. :)
I had the same thought. I would be interested in seeing the difference in both time and yield when you press two bags that have the correct amount at a time. You would only have to wait on the press half as often, and you would get a better yield. You are pressing only one, but it appears you may be under-filling the single bag as well. I will send a message with my email. I would like to see the redone video. Thank you for such a thorough comparison. I have been very curious about the Angel.
For carrots in the Norwalk juicer, there was 116 grams of carrot that was neither in the juice or pulp, it is hard to believe that they actually started with one kilogram of carrots for each juicer.
The Angel, VRT, and 8004/8006 are significantly lower RPM from 80 to 85 RPM (rotations per minute). Those three models are also signifcantly cheaper than the Norwalk even when you buy a hydraulic press with them. Angel costs the most but it is also the best of those three. The Norwalk juicer portion is 2850 to 3450RPM. The hydraulic press also doesn't cause any oxidation or have any RPM but you initially need to juice first before you can get the remaining pulp with a hydraulic press.
I think we have commented on this about 47 times now. Please read the video description and please watch the video till the end. 2 Bags were used on different occassions. There are people who asked us to show both single bag juicing and 2 bag juicing. Thanks for your comment!
Great video, thank you very much !
What happens when you run out of bags for the Norwalk Juicer, so it makes the machine kind of useless until you wash the bags or buy more.
Can you guys use the Juicing Buddy Press or the Welles Press for the Angel's pulp and see how much more juice you can extract from the Angel's pulp? Both of those Presses give 4000 pounds of pressure. Or use the press from the Norwalk for the Angel's pulp. I'd also like to see the Norwalk vs. the Omega Vrt350 or Coway Juicepresso with a Juicing Buddy Press or the Welles Press.
Eu preciso muito de uma Angel Juicer Please...
In this video you did not show if you could extract any more juice from the pulp left over from the Super Angel and how much more juice you can extract from the pulp with the Super Angel so I would be interested in seeing that. And to see if the most juice pulp that can be extracted from a Super Angel would either be from rejuicing the pulp through the Super Angel several times or through the Hydraulic Press too of the pulp from the Super Angel. Can you show that?
Please try to remember that it is not our intention to get identical results here. Our intention is to show the results after juicing. When it comes to which juicer is faster or better for your personal needs, we always suggest that you get professional adivce and of course try to get this from someone you feel that youc an trust.
The Angel seems to be at its best with greens. There didn't seem to be much pulp in there. The apples in the Norwalk seemed browner. When I juice them it stays green longer. Not sure why. The angel apple juice is green but the pulp is really brown. Maybe its the lighting
so how much better is the angel vs the green star elite. price is a killer.
Your right about the oxidation but twin gears are grinding and pressing. And they note on that test that the green life didn't do a good job in grinding. The angel seems to grind much better.
Hello, we used the 275.
I have done some fasts. 33, 12, 30, 40 and 18 continuous days eating nothing and drinking water only. It's very special experience. But it's not easy and in fact recovery from it takes minimally the same time as fasting solely. Last fast I had to stop because of hidden tooth root abscess (water fast is not recommended with inflammation). So I switched to juice fast to minimize recovery period. I did three weeks on liquid diet. I made juice from about one kg of vegetables with handful of well soaked nuts about 5 hours after wakeup and from about one kg of fruits at late afternoon between 16 and 17 o'clock each day. It was a big surprise for me, because I got recovered from water fasting within two, three days. I did it for three weeks. Now I'm preparing myself for long time liquidarian period or (if you want) juice fasting. So I have some nontechnical findings. Most of metabolic waste which goes out from body through bowels. But while fasting is this process stopped and this waste remains in bowels. In fact this waste is toxic for body and it often must be removed using enema, which is unpleasant. But juice from Angel contains enough of fiber to keep (or to start) bowels working and continuous removal of metabolic waste out of body. I'm not in doubt with juice purity, manual shredder and manual press produce more pure juice than Angel. I have it tried many times. But I'm in doubts if juice purity equal health benefits, because body just needs raw fiber fo cleaning a detoxication. My choice is fiber from Angel because body needs fiber and from Angel gets it in perfect natural form. You don't need to shred apples to small pieces for pressing and what you put to press is white and juice still has a color of black tea with lemon. I guess it's fiber which makes green color of apple juice from Angel in this video. My 7500 produces such juice from Golden Delicious only. From other species Angel produces brown juice too. Pro autory videa Měli byste v tom Norwalku nechat sáčky nějakou dobu pod tlakem. Klidně několik minut, vykape toho ještě dost. Citrusy stačí přepůlit a je to potřeba jenom kvůli tomu, aby z lisu neutíkaly.
@incorectulpolitic
Жыл бұрын
But if you only use green juices for juice fasting, the magnesium and chlorophyll in the green juices will move the bowels on their own, so no need for enema and or fiber.... Especially spinach juice, high in magnesium and chlorophyll
Again... have a look at minute 14:55. Here you see where 2 bags are used at the same time with the results. I dont understand what you are complaining about. If you think that you are able to present a better comparison, we would love to see this.
First of all, the Norwalk does an excellent job when it comes to yield! That we want to get out there first. 1. "Nightmare to clean"; You surely mean the "after juicing" cleaning process of the actual juicer. What about the cleaning of the spills when moving bag from the chopper to the press? What about the ruptured bags which will leave walls and ceilings with a new retro color?
also, Norwalk recommends that you place 2 full bags in the press at once. you get more compression that way and it would likely make more juice. watch the Norwalk video on how to operate correctly. I still love this comparison but I would like to see it again with the proper operation.
looks like you didnt turn the switch back more on the Norwalk so it can press harder. it all comes down on how much the goodness it gets out the fruit n veg
That link you sent doesn't work.
You might not be able to extract anymore juice from an Angel's pulp because the Angel is so efficient the first time around. I would be interested in seeing if you can extract anymore juice from an Angel's pulp with an Angel or with a hydraulic press and how many more times you would need to run the pulp through to see the most juice that can be extracted from it.
I am shocked! The angel bested the norwalk in every category. Including price. Now if they can stick around with a solid warrantee they will be worth the money.
is there any nutritional value difference between the two juicers
@777sweett777
8 жыл бұрын
THAT is what I wanted to know the las t two juices were darker in color (in my opinion) and would have more nutrients in it due to the difference in pigmentation. That is a big deal to me! :/ Now I still don't know which to get! LOL!!!
@johnevegas
8 жыл бұрын
the norwalk creates more oxidation from the high speed grinding process and that is why the juice is darker making it less nutritional. The angel is a slower speed process and less damage is done to the small particles.
Something tells me Eujuicers.com doesn't sell Norwalk juicers! Why put in one carrot at a time into Norwalk? Is it because only one fits at a time in Angela?
@americalostitswaywithgod9730
5 жыл бұрын
I called Norwalk and they are not CE certified. Which meand they can not be officially sold in Europe. The Norwalk has 12 years warranty.
And once you clean the SA screen you have to clean the rest of the machine. You are absolutely right about the rpms. Some may debate you on that but I won't. I can only argue about the speed and yield.
