What club would you use more often, hybrid or long iron? Comment down below!⬇️

4 hybrid instead of 3 iron. What hybrid did you use? (dont think i heard it mentioned)

Isn't the 3 or 4 Iron going to be more accurate than a longer shafted hybrid, especially on long approach shots where a particular flight shape is required?

Hybrid, I tend to hit my shots low and need the added height.

Why is a wood/fairway metal not included?
Cheers guys. I'm pretty new to the game & fell out with my low irons. Hybrid suits due to my slow swing, an absolute game changer to be honest. You really confirmed everything & gave me a bit confidence. 👍
Thank you gents for all the great videos. I am a novice who actually broke 100 today got to a 92 from an average of 111 because of your videos (I just found you a couple of weeks ago).
I've just swapped my TM RAC 3 iron for the TM 3 SIM Hybrid. Totally transformed that 200-210m distance for me, confident in hitting greens and fairways with a draw. 👌
A 3 iron entered the bag this week for our clubs links series over the winter. Hope it plays nice
I have a 5 wood, but out of the two I would prefer the hybrid I think, nice to feel like you have that bit of help for confidence.
Hit my 4 hybrid to 3' from the pin from 233 yards yesterday on par 5 second shot. Was my first round with the new set and I made an eagle. Safe to say I love the hybrids
I use both. I like using the hybrid when the wind is lateral because I feel confident in reading how that will affect the ball flight and adjust my target line accordingly
Just got fitted for a new set, and ended up swapping out my 3 and 4 irons for 3 and 4 hybrids, irons for 5 and up. Have only played a couple rounds with them so far and a range session. Took a little adjustment initially to quit hooking them, but I quickly fell in love. I am already significantly more confident in my ability to attack in both the 200 - 215 and 220 - 235 ranges. Especially with the 3, I notice a huge improvement in consistency of clean contact and strikes compared to the iron. Misses are significantly more forgiving.
Watching the Dubai ditt free from Ballymena and Aaron Rai is being interviewed as leader, and the screen is covered with the me and my golf trademark. Congrats and best of luck, it is good to see your hard work pay off.
It’s an individual test , each person swing and speed is different , if you find your 5/4/3 irons are all bunching up going the same distance and not getting any height hybrids will be better at launching and separating the gaps , if you have some speed in your swing the irons will give you more maneuverability .
I was fitted a couple of years ago for clubs and play 4 hybrids 6, 5, 4, 2. Longest iron is a 7. Still have a 3 wood in the bag, too.
Saw your show on golf Channel here in the US the other day, well done, gents 👏
Been playing hybrid until this year, got more length with 3-iron and it's worked well, but still have hybrid at hand depending on conditions
Video idea: How important is it to be fitted for clubs and using the right equipment? Should I learn to hit the clubs I have now or upgrade and then learn? Maybe do a buyer's guide for upgrading equipment, what we should be looking for, how to decide what is right for you, etc.
I always struggeld with the the height of my 3 iron. From the tee the height was ok, but not from the ground. So i replaced it with a hybrid. Better height, more forgiving and constant lenght. I love it
700,000 subscribers !! congratulations !
Hybrid. I only have one but I love the way the ball comes off it.
I have both but am leaning toward the Hybrid currently as I'm finding I need that length club approaching longer par 4s and long par 3s more often but need/want it to land softly and hold the green. If it is windy I'll take the 3i/driving iron though.
Interesting video. Now I know why I prefer long irons while my friend prefers hybrids.
Man, hard question. When I’m struggling I’ll go back to my Iron but I do love a nice contact with a M4 hybrid and what it can do to get you on or closer to the green.
I love the SIM hybrid. It’s an amazing club. Great video chaps ⛳️🏌️♂️

Senior player 3&4 hybrids have helped me immensely. Although eyeing a 7 wood right now
@adeyt205

Funnily enough i find that i hit 7 wood better than anything so that’s my 3 iron. Then use 4 hybrid and testing 5 hybrid.
Great info
I always keep a 4i with a -1.5" length graphite shaft in my bag that I mostly use for punch outs that require a lot of feel or off the tee on narrow fairways and chutes. If I'm 190+ out and have a good lie, I prefer to use my 3 hybrid because I'd prefer to keep my wrists intact and based on my avg yardages I'm rarely in a situation where I need anything longer than a 5i.
What about adding a driving iron with the same loft. I struggle with the 3 iron from the set but love my driving iron with the same loft. So I play a 18deg hybrid with a 21deg driving iron then 4 iron
I used long irons for ages but really struggled with the 3 and 4 iron. Moved to hybrids and particularly with the 3 get so much better strikes so hybrids for me
3-4 hybrid offer me better distance control than the irons, I will use the the 4 iron sometimes depending on wind to keep it lower. Plus I only get about a 5 yard difference between the 4-5 irons.
I use a 3, 4, and 5 hybrid. They are especially effective out of the rough.
I’m much better with my hybrid than my long irons but after finishing up the ultimate irons course on the website my irons are much improved and getting better by the day!!!

No problem. Hope they help.
what about hybrid vs lofted wood vs utility driver?
Oh! and I am thinking Hybrid... I am still not comfortable with a fairway wood yet, but have a major mental block on my 3,4,5&6 ... and since my speed is still a bit slow I think the Hybrid would help with loft.
I can’t hit hybrids. I have tried and tried and just can’t do it for some reason. I had a 4H and got rid of it today and replaced it with a 7 wood. I am more consistent and accurate with the 7 wood. I did a club fitting/testing with multiple brands 7 wood and 4H found the 7 wood callaway rogue ST Max was the best for me. Comes in Thursday can’t wait to use it.
My home course is a links so no woods or hybrid in the bag. Driver, 1 iron and 3-sw but on the look out for 2 iron to complete my iron set 🏌️♂️⛳👍 thanks for the videos lads and stay safe 👍

Makes sense John. Thanks!!
Can you do a vid on hybrid or mid iron . Thinking of getting one to replace my 5 and 6 iron . Cheers guys
Chopped my 2,3 and hybrids down to equivalent iron length - so easy to hit.
i go from a 5 wood to a 3 iron, and it play it well, my 3 iron goes just over 200 yards depending on the wind.
i'm a senior new player and I've just bought a set of hybrid irons...seem to help me out and I need all the help I can get!
As I have both 4 and 5 irons and hybrids, for me, it depends on the weather conditions (Windy day or not) and the situation on the hole I'm playing (Only played on a links course once ever, so the type course really isn't a factor). But, which ones am I putting in the bag that day? My swing speed is mid 90's so I can go pretty much either or and still get positive results.
I prefer my irons as I have a higher ball flight. I have a Gapr mid 3 currently.
I’ve always played a 3 iron and have struggled with hybrids. Unfortunately over the last several years my 3 iron is limited to tee shots. Maybe I’ll give the hybrid another go.
Hybrid hands down as I can do more with it including long shots from the rough.
Hybrids have too much offset for me. Most hybrids I have a problem going left
What do you consider a low/high speed player? I’m swinging my 4 hybrid around 85-90 mph,
I run an 18 and 22 degree hybrid, and 5+ irons.
Add a section on which one out of the ruff. Also compare to a fairway wood.
Should my hybrid have the same loft as the iron I’m replacing it with or should it have a little more loft
On my old set, irons all the way 3-SW but on the new ones?! A mix depending on circumstances like the wind or the course in general. This setup is fairly common to me. (Driver, 3-wood, and 5-wood). A 2-iron (can be used instead of all the woods if I play under windy conditions.) The rest of the bag has a 20-22 degree hybrid, 5-SW iron. Some days the only wood is the driver (and those days the driver might stay in the vag the whole round) the rest is iron (2, 3, and 4 irons + my normal 5-LW). I love to play with the last configuration. Really don't know why I don't do it more often. (I lose some distance but I usually save a lot of shot by always staying on the fairway. (I know that the iron going to go straight. The woods are more volatile. (Super-great or really bad.)
Also whether you’re hitting it out of the rough or fairway more often on long approaches. Way easier to hit the hybrid out of bad lies than a 3 iron.
Yeah I have tried both and preferred the iron but now I have a 5 wood and a 3 wood
I'm a 21 hcap and I have a mizuno TP9 2 iron in my bag, I love it, I carry it 180-190 then roll to 200, lovely low flight with baby draw, but I love my 4 hyb and my 4 iron, I'm thinking about getting a 3 hybrid for my bag.

Brilliant. It may be a good option. Make sure you get a fitting to get the numbers and see where it could fit.
I'm new to the game of golf. My swing is all about power in baseball and hockey what do you recommend p.s. I can smoke my 4 iron pretty far
Just realised my 5 iron and 4 hybrid are both the same loft which one should I take out the bag?
Hybrid ... I have learned how to sting it as well... so is really good as a fairway finder!

Brilliant!
Long irons for me, tend to hook hybrids!
Only here because I got a notification and was triggered by the unnecessary apostrophes in the title 😝 Interesting video though!
Don't own a Hybrid, never tried one still use my Power Circle irons and clubs sadly so in turn I use my 3 iron that I normally hit
I need a hybrid just to cover the gaps in my game. Hit 3 woods 250-260 and then hit my 4 iron 200-210 and have nothing in between lol. I definitely hit my 3 wood a lot more pure then my 4 iron so I’m hoping a hybrid should work good for me. I was about a 3 handicap last year but right now prob more like 5-7 since the winter break in Canada usually costs a few strokes to start the season lol.
Do we want a little more weight on the front all all iron shots too?
I’m chalking my issues up to some poor ball strikes and really old range balls. I’ve read that those just don’t perform like normal balls and the longer the club the more evident it becomes.
I use 2 hybrids (5 and 4). I hit them perfect. Can't hit my 5 and 4 irons for some reason. I keep the 5 in the bag but no 4. Then I keep a 5w and 3w. Might take one if them out and add a 60°
Good info thanks. Does Andy know he always calls you Peirce, not Piers ! 🤣

Just swapped my 5w for a 3H wanted something higher and softer landing. Plus a little more consistent gapping from my 4iron.

Both!
What is consider a low-swing speed vs a high-speed swing?
I don’t feel like I hit my hybrids as well as I do my irons. I can hit my 6 iron quite a bit further and higher than my 4 or 5 hybrid. So for me as a beginner it will be irons until I get better results with my hybrids.
I have 5 iron only for low under tree shots. 6 iron is longest full shot 180yd. I then chose 4 hybrid 205 yds. Small gap but choking down handles that. The 4 hybrid is easier to swing amd more forgiving.
I feel more comfortable with long irons because I feel the club head is bigger? dont know if I am using the right term, still struggle with hybrids on the court without a tee
Need help to solve a golf problem: I am constantly driving just off the fairway (maybe 15-20 yards) into areas with trees that are thinly positioned, but which have low hanging branches (maybe 10 ft high) that block my re-entry onto the fairway. I have to hit a shot LOW so as to avoid hitting those branches, and punch the ball back onto the fairway. I have a slow swing speed of about 88 mph (so that is a factor). What club should I be using that will hit at least 70 yards, but fly low to the ground. (Note: These areas I am hitting out of sometimes have grass and sometimes mostly just dirt with very small pebbles imbedded. (Note: I am a short male, age 60, with an inseam of 29 inches, and I do mostly 3/4 swings. I have been using a shortened 5 hybrid, graphite regular shaft, with mixed results.) Should I be using a different type club? Would a 4 iron be a bad choice, given my slower swing speed? Does a shorter shaft help to keep the trajectory low?
When i first started Hybrid was only Club I could make good contact with more often than not. Now that I am more consistent with my irons and even my 4 and 5 Iron I hate they hybrid. I might use it for punch in between trees as it is one club I absolutely suck at getting loft out of. When I do get loft out of a hybrid it ends up going to high and kills distance. I can hit my 5 iron 180 4 out of 5 times. The other miss hit will go straight just be fat or thin and only go 150. I will put out a 3 hybrid and I will maybe hit 1 out of 5 180 with the other 4 being anywhere from crazy left crazy right topped or hit fat for 140 yards. I trust Irons way way way more.
Nice shoes guy's! Are those shell toes? Sweet

Hi guys , i am a long time follower and user of your great content and have ironed out many problems over the years using your input. I have now a situation where your help may be helpful in rescuing my future ability to continue playing golf and in turn may help other users of the channel . My problem is nothing to do with the current hybrid/iron video but i am unsure where too post the question , could you or anyone else for that matter advise how and where to ask a "new subject" question , thanks.

Hi Paul. Thanks for the question. Can you please post the question in our community please? or email info@meandmygolf.com and make it out to me Andy👍🏻
Game both, I look for functional usage, hybrid at 5 iron then u510 at 3 iron to purposely hit lower and on tighter holes off the tee
It depends on your swing. Everything says that I should game a hybrid however I flub it 9 of 10 shots. I hit my 3I reliably 9 of 10 times. It comes down to what you can rely on!

We actually have a Videos series called "Home Swing Guide". It is on our website Hunter. It depends on what specific area you are looking to improve?
I’ve replaced my 4 iron with the hybrid....simply because I want to get more loft into the shot. 🙏
Really depends on the shot I'm facing but as a general rule, the hybrid feels better off the tee and on the fairway vs the iron who's a much better choice in the rough or if I'm dealing with strong wind.
@TheSleepbad

Interesting I thought the hybrid was made for the rough while long iron normally struggle in the rough. But it often times vary for different players and the feel is often the most important thing
I hit my irons fine, every time I try to hit my hybrid I top it
Tons of the top pros are moving into more hybrids and woods
Question: What´s the loft on the 3 iron and hybrid tested?
@wardyboy26
3 жыл бұрын
yeah pretty vital info left out..
I put one on the green probably 9 feet from the pin from 220 with the hybrid and there is a zero percent chance I would have been able to do that with my 4 iron. So much easier to hit
Those pants are really nice, what are they?
I ditched my 4i for a hybrid. Big issue for me now is that there is this big yardage gap between the hybrid and my 5i.

@KimFransman

@currbag

For me my 3 wood is my 260 plus club....5 wood is 240 plus.....and 4 hybrid is 220 plus
My 3 hybrid bends left while every other club in my bag bends right - I tend to play it more towards the middle of my stance to try and compensate for this. Any idea what I'm doing wrong? Maybe I'm not setting the club head correctly on the ground to be square at address? I've had the same issue hitting other friends' hybrids as well.
@meandmygolf.
3 жыл бұрын
Check the strike first Austin. It could be a toe strike. If you are striking it good then your face is closed to the path. It could be the club design also.
Iron at the link or windy conditions, hybrid otherwise.
The main difference between my 4 iron and my hybrid is what shot I'm facing. Been struggling to hit my 4 iron recently so I'm going to give this stance a go my next round
What about removing a wedge at the bottom of the bag to make way for 2i off the tee and 5/7 W from fway coming into par 5s?
@meandmygolf.
3 жыл бұрын
You can definitely do that. It just depends on what you need and will use more on the course.
Given the conditions , I’d used the 3-iron
Which is better out of the rough?
Me and my golf, when will you reveal the winner of the drivers?
Wow ! You guys look so Gay with matching outfits, so cute 🥰
I prefer the irons mainly, if im in the rough its just way easier getting out with an iron then it is with a hybrid.
@davidpadilla4796
3 жыл бұрын
i don't agree, the hybrid shape makes it not dig in, so its much easier getting out with a hybrid than an iron, maybe its just your particular case but I,ve never heard this opinion before.
Im must friendly with long iron. I didnt know why im using hybrid clubs, its always hit the ground when im down swing and made the big devot before ball although im really feel good when back swing. tks for ur clip!!^^
I prefer my hybrid. Just feel more confident with it!
@meandmygolf.
3 жыл бұрын
Love it Chelsea. So much easier to use.
I’m a mid speed player and I’ve tried hybrids and I hate them I’d rather have an equivalent wood. 4 iron down 3/5 wood classic setup
How about both? Eg,3 or 4 iron as longest iron and a hybrid with a 4/5 wood loft? I see so many amateurs who swing so slowly(myself included) that a 3 wood is pointless for them and that club could be easily replaced with a hybrid.
@meandmygolf.
3 жыл бұрын
Definitely can do that also.👍🏻
I use long irons, I've never liked hybrids
Surprised they really didn’t touch on shot shaping with hybrids. Irons are typically easier for better plays to hit a low or high fade/draw or low stinger fade/draw
What were the lofts on each club? Are you not getting the height because of the loft differences?
@meandmygolf.
3 жыл бұрын
I think they were the same lofts mo. The design in the head is what creates the height.
