    A good video. Go one step further and activate a relay, when the scale reaches a target weight; make that target weight adjustable via two buttons (+ve / -ve)

    I am surprised that you get this amount of precision when supplying the power to the HX711 from the arduino, that itself is powered from your PC. I have issues with tremendous amounts of voltage ripple using that same setup. I'm currently trying different approaches using various LP-filters. Do you have some more information about the code that you added? You wrote something about a creep filter and zero point drift.

    As you mentioned, you would probably would need to work on stabilizing the power supply and compensate temperature I think. Check out the spark fun website with their code for comparison!

    hi, I wanted to know if the calibratioin factor is different with different setups. Or do you calculate the calibration factor once and then you always use that factor for that load cell. Thank you!

  • @FriedrichKegel

    It is the same for the same load cell - might vary over different load cells due manufacturing tolerances. Additional factors might be environment temperature and material consistency - which i didn't explore in detail. There is also a thing called "drifting" which moves the value over time - i can imagine its solved in more "industrial ready" devices :)

    @@FriedrichKegel Hi there, drifting is a phenomenon well know in the weiging world. The more precise the scale the more sensitive it is to the environment. Next to calibration which should be done idelally before every weighing session starts, the environment selection and treatment is at the same level of importance. Once you want/need repeatable precise measurements say to the 4th 5th decimal place and lower, you need to have dedicated weiging desk, firmly set to the ground without any moving air, vibrations, direct sun light, magnetic or electromagnetic noise and with stable temperature and moisture :D Scales like this usually employ automatic calibration mechanisms and are capable to compensate most of the normal fluctuation of the variables I mentioned. And then there is a whole weighing manual every lab asistant needs to follow to actually get the right readings :D But even miligram-precise scales need recalibration on regular basis and at least a solid desk in a room with no wind, direct sun light or nearby heating. Otherwise there will be the permanent change in the reading also known as drift.

    @@paulgrl5227 I don't remember the exact overload capacity, i think it also relates to manufacturing tolerances of the flexible adhesive and the machined part. I bought cheap 10 kg load cell from China, and my best accuracy I can get from that sensor is about +- 10 g in short-time measurement. Is there anyone who have experience with this range? What was your accuracy?

  • @FriedrichKegel

    @FriedrichKegel

    4 жыл бұрын

    I guess thats pretty good - i mean the accuracy always relates to the total measurement range - so if you have 10.000g that is 0,1% which is pretty good i think. If you need more i think you have to upgrade to more precise/high end solutions. Or downgrade to a smaller measurement range like 5 or 2kg.
