You can just unscrew the top piece of the Ilm, then put the Wassers under it and slightly screw it back in, and then unscrew the bottom piece. And again: you put the backplate for the cooler upside down in the Review. There is one site that clearly says "this site MUST face the motherboard"

Hey, Steve! As a budget enthusiast, I'm asking you to reconsider phasing out the AM4 benchmarking. Fact is, a gamer can pick up a second hand Zen 1 system for dirt cheap. Assuming the rest of the rig is solid and supported, in a couple of years they can do a major upgrade to an AM4 chip announced in 2024. AM4 will be a viable upgrade path for lots of gamers for years to come, IMO. Thanks, Steve! Rock on!

I'm so happy that in Europe you don't deal with the manufacturer on warranty issues, but with the company you bought the product from*. Also warranty is only an extra service that companies can provide. As long as your own actions don't actively break the product they are responsible to repair, give a new product or give your money back for 2-5 years..even if warranty is void. * With extended warranties, like when some PSUs had 10 year warranty, you might have to deal with the manufacturer if the product fails after being used for 5 years. In this kind of cases you have to care about the warranty rules set by the manufacturer.

The most important part is that these companies will stop doing it. Yes it would be nice to also punish them so they start applying consumer protection laws sooner next time, but the main purpose of the law is to eliminate these "warranty void"-scams in the medium term. If it accomplishes that, then consumers will have won either way.

On the Steam controller usage: I've been gaming for 40 years. I don't consider myself casual by any stretch and I haven't owned a console since the Gamecube. But I still use controllers for games that are either built for them or where controller just makes more sense. I'm on my first playthrough of Dark Souls right now and am playing on controller because it just feels better than KBM. But for an FPS? I'd never even consider a controller even if it were a port of a console game. As long as the KBM implementation wasn't stupid, there's no question and controller isn't even an option. Just depends on the game itself and not whether it's a console port or not. I've played several console ports with KBM just because it felt better than a controller. I just think modern games are getting better gamepad support than they've ever had, historically. That's just my opinion on it. Using controllers on a PC even 10 years ago was pretty janky. Very hit or miss and that's to say nothing of older PC gaming. PC gaming and controllers have had a contentious relationship, historically speaking. And since I'm not an elitist, I'm happy that that's changing. And not because I'd rather use a controller, but because more options is good. I'm a serious PC gamer, after all. More options is always better.

You're a casual don't kid yourself. There's nothing good about controllers getting pushed in PC gaming they are one of the reason why PC gaming is so dumbed down today. Devs nowadays develop their games to work with controllers first and after that's done port their piece of shit game to PC, and since controllers lack the complexity of movement and overall lack of buttons forces devs to make games not have any depth. It's a tragedy that casuals are fine with this BS....

It's only interesting when taken as a whole with the rest of the situation, but actually sitting through that video? Sleep inducing.🤣 I'm willing to bet the much more likely case is that EK's lawyers told them to, under no circumstances, talk to the media or any KZreadrs.

In the end government is another kind of corporation and EU already had a ton of corruption and abuse scandals with bribes etc. This may all look "fun" when it's a greedy corporation getting hit, but recently there was outrage also from GN when it was Steam, despite not knowing actual details (no sufficient transparency about the deals to make informed judgement, only tribalistic opinions on the internet) - funny how that works...

Noctua coolers, they last multiple socket generations because they offer brackets for future sockets when they come out. I've been using them for over a decade on 2 PCs. I don't think anyone else does this and makes them such incredible value for money over time. You really need to include that in your reviews.

We all really need to take a moment to respect how big GN has gotten that companies like Noctua actually respond to them and take them seriously. I know its been said before.. but damn its still so impressive

I honestly believe you should keep the AM4 test bench. At least IMO, there are a fair amount of people who still are on AM4.

I mean, I agree but remember it's one more suite of benchmarks that his team have to di and they're already a super time-consuming thing. I say this as an AM4 person myself (B0 stepping 5800X toaster)

For the washer mod; just get longer screws. Do not risk it for $0.50 in screws.

it sounds like what Noctua should do, just send them out with the larger screws. But Include a torque limited screw driver. You might think this is insanely expensive. But the machining and manufacturing industry use pre-set low cost torque limited drivers quite a bit. Most inserts for CNC's come with one included in the pack of inserts. Set the appropriate spec. So It seems like this could be something they leverage at a minimal cost. Considering they have included metal screwdriver's with some of their heatsinks in the past and it is really a premium heatsink. This shouldn't be outside of acceptable.

Okay 1 last guess before you spoil the surprise: The 13900k and 14900k are having a problem due to their specific P-Core E-Core Architecture!

This wareanty stuff is interesting! I remember so many little stickers on all kinds of stuff (not just PC parts) that say "Warranty void if removed." I guess they are all invalid now due to that law.

It seems as though the "most recommended" use case for the NH-D15 G2 could be long-service life workstation PCs, ones that require high performance with limited noise emission.

Been running a Noctua NH15 on an overclocked i7-7700k since 2017, rock solid, never a single problem. Saw they dropped the G2 and didn't hesitate to upgrade my entire system and strap that bad boy down on top of a 14900k and just yolo my entire build. No regrets.

Oh man, the comment about having a die the size of the house had me rolling. It's really a shame how corporate greed is that we can definitely hit so much faster speeds, but they want to limit the hell out of us and make us pay so much money for internet. The isps in the United States are a complete joke

I pay $29.18 a month for 100mbit fiber. A BigMac costs $4.67 for reference. That the US government doesn't force telcos/ISPs to rent their networks to each other is why y'all are getting rectum reamed.
