It doesn't fit on the side door step. I feel like that's the unspoken official spot for the vacuum pumps

Steve, that was the most informative summary of a TEZ 8 I have seen yet. I don't like the TEZ, but you presented it so convincingly I have to give Appion credit for some very convenient features on the TEZ. Still don't like the TEZ bit now I am better informed about them. If your ever out my way the brews is on me;)!

Very good review Steve. I have both of those JBs and the platinum is my go to pump. Was thinking of the Tez because I have a G5 for recovery and it is super fast. I will have to think about that now after your review.

i like the j.b platnum for the size and overall heavy duty construction .she has been good to me ..the oil change is the most important part on a vac pump . both pumps have good features

I also had that problem with the sight glass leaking on my Robinair. What I did was buy the correct size socket, and took it out. Took the o-ring off and went to a hardware store and bought two new o-rings, and changed it out. Hasn't leaked since, it's lasted nearly 10 years now. I still have the spare o-ring in a little ziplock bag. Agreed, it was making a nasty mess on the bottom of the pump. I found a tiny cut mark in the o-ring, they probably scratched it or nicked it somehow at the factory.

I've been looking at these pumps, nice to see a vid with the comparison. thanks Steve. I'm pretty sure the tez8 only claims to have 20 microns as the end vac. anyways. the pump doesn't look like it will hold up in the back of a van very long

Nice Review Steven, I'll upgrade to the platinum when my JB 7 & Robinair kick the bucket. P.S. Your home town is a picture post card vacation destination, I've been working there the last month, the heck with Cape Cod, I'm moving south to the south coast, Beautiful Coastal Community

I have an old Robinair 6cfm I bought it new in 1996. It's showing its age, ultimate vacuum is only 50-100 microns. Maybe I just need to run it for a few hours then change the oil three times in a row. Years of evacuating burnouts might have built up some junk in it, who knows. I change the oil in it regularly, and esp after every "nasty" system. First big system I evacuated with it was back in about 1997, I installed a new blast chiller at a poultry processing plant, 15hp condensing unit, 2.5" suction line, 7/8" liquid line, medium temp, Copeland Discus compressor. Evap coil had 3 1hp blower motors, weighed 1350 pounds. Had to use a forklift to hang the coil from the ceiling. Anyway, that pump took about 2 days to pull it down to 1350 microns. Changed the oil, let it run another 8 hours or so and was done. Used 123 pounds of R-22 to charge that sucker, biggest system I ever built. But this was back in the day you could buy 22 for about $50 a jug.

I agree with you. CRTs and hoses from Appion are some of the best. The TEZ 8 is just too big and noisy for resi work. Heck, my JB is TOO big too, but it does not sound lie a fright train. The only reason i have a 7CFM Platinum is because they do not make a 6 CFM. Ordered a G5 TWIN but never took it out of the box. Sold it at a loss.

I really like the 10 CFM Mastercool, but it's the first and only pump I've ever had since being in the business...eveyone else I work with always "NEEDS" it for whatever job they're on and my boss makes me swap for their weak-sauce yellow jacket vac pumps. I like that platinum; nice, narrow footprint for the van and...*gasp* Made In USA..?! Nice.

I have been using the tez for a while but I think I am going to go back to using my CPS 6. It is handy to be able to change the oil so easily but It seems to take longer to pull down. I'm on my 2cd tez in 2 years.I do like their recovery machine though.

Steven. My TEZ-8 pulls down at the same rate. My setup is the same, the TEZ-8 and the Blu-Vac micron gauge and my results were identical. I checked mine right out of the box and mine was bought from my local parts house. I still like my TEZ over my Robinair 15600.

Great video bro. I like technology but if you know how vacum pump works only advantage i can see is a dc motor and inverter. Do you have experience on the field piece VP 87. I need a new vac but so far I have not used any i prefer over old school vacs. Much appreciated.

The plastic scares me, I have the Appion reclaimer, it works great, but the plastic is already broken. The guy that designed it probably drives a BMW to work, I'd like him to ride in the back of my truck for a week. I've used yellow jacket vacuum pumps for quite a few years, they're ok.

been using supco an bluevac. is it worth the extra bucks for 7 or 8 cfm pump? time wise 7 or 8 cfm is faster to hit that 500 micron mark. but how much tine is really saved if you run half hour vacs.?

As far as the cord length goes, I personally would like to have a male adapter on the side and no cord length. I can't remember a time I had my vacuum pump out without already needing an extension cord. Reclaimer, vacuum pump, battery charger. It's like the difference between a hose spigot and 20ft of garden hose permanently attached to the side of your house.
