Great explanation. The two types of leaks are sometimes called real leak vs virtual leak. I sometimes call them external vs internal leaks, might be able to use some other terms as well.

I like your idea about the male plugs for your hoses. Home Depot has them for cheap. Thanks for the Tip.

Appion sells the plastic one for $30, so the brass one at HD is a steel.

Nice tutorial. To me,that's a lot of potential leak points?( I'd be chasing my tail) KISS (for me) Regular old residential I've always had good success. I just make sure to read the system not the vacuum pump. Love to oil heater boil & lubrication. Yes my old ref guy used copper lines back in the day. Took forever. I had more issues with leaks before I started using NYLOG. Now I don't worry about the connections.

What is the proper nylog to use, red or blue? Is there a difference between the two?

NYLOG RED Is based on Mineral Oil. NYLOG BLUE is synthetic ester oils fully compatible with all systems including those based on PVE oil, HFO refrigerants and CO2

My micron gauge doesn't hold and only reaches 690 microns but still it wouldn't hold I tried it directly on my vacuum pump and it reaches 69 and fluctuates back to 179 doesn't stay one place what can cause this does anyone know

Put a valve tool between it and a pump but put the micron guage on the very end of the valve tool. Use nylog on the connections. On the pump alone you should be able to pull below 50 microns with fresh oil, but what ever you can get to close the valve off so it's isolated from the pump. Basically it's own decay test. If it jumps up fast then there is a crack in the guage and it's leaking. If it holds then you know the issue is in crosses connection or your pump.

Thank you for all of your content! I am learning so much and am very greatful! I have one question regarding using a pressure gauge next to the micron gauge on this set up. I noticed you used a pressure gauge on the single hose setup but not this one. I was wondering if it would be usefull to use one in this scenario when charging a mini split? I have a larger LG unit that calls for a dual hose tripple evac and am wondering if I should monitor pressure like you did in the single hose video? Thanks!!!
