Two dances from the Hutsul region of Ukraine
The Hutsuls are a unique ethnic group that reside in the Carpathian Mountains. They have their own distinct traditions, language, and customs. Tonight’s dances are a reflection of this unique culture and are a celebration of their way of life. Look out for the trembita: a long, wooden instrument similar to the Swiss alphorn, which is often highlighted in Hutsul dances.
