WISH I HAD FOUND THIS VIDEO EARLIER!!! My 51 would not hold a low idle. Then bog when I hit trigger. No real impact when adjusting carb. Chainsaw was given to me and I did not know how it was maintained prior to me recieveing it. Carb looked clean, so I assumed old gas mucked up the insides. Bought new carb ...Could not adjust that one either. Checked the fuel line at the problem area you highlighted in this video, found cut in line, replaced line and started it up. Holy Hell! saw startled me it started so quick and rev`d so strong........No carb adjustment needed.. Thank you for taking the time to make this video.

After further checking on my 288XP, I found the line goes straight down through that top plate, that mweba1 seemed to be working under. I have a little rubber grommet that protects the line as it come up to the carb but otherwise the procedure is very much the same. I now have my new line in place, with the filter attached, and the line is now on the carb. Thanks for the help this video gave me.

@mweba1 The shop i work at sells all amzoil products so thats where i get mine, they use amzoil mixed gas in all there stuff including 4 cycle and theres no problems. Its smokeless, doesnt built up carbon, 100:1 is good for all engines, just all around a great product

The line is a specific size. If it does not fit tight into the tank it will leak. Oregon has a 3/16 that is the most common for people to use but it is to small causing a leak. See this weekly.

I am working on a model 288 Husqavarna. Although some complain about this fellows hands being in the way at least at the 2:00 minute mark I now at least know where and how to look for that spot to insert the new line. Mine has a rubber grommet that the line comes up through to the carb. My line was so rotten I could not see where it came from. I think I still have a piece stuck in the hole into the tank, but now I know where to look for it. Thanks.

That's exactly where my fuel line failed, I took it loose from the carburetor and it was nice and flexible, look in great shape but right where it goes through the entrance it's only hanging by a thread.

I have a 345e. Now on your video you are informative. I have one question I had my boss replace the line feeding from the primer bulb to the white nipple. Now when we poured gas in the gas ran out everywhere and when i tried to prime i got nothing in the bulb just gas pouring out. Is the husky gas line specific in size? i got 1/8 gas line... or did he put it into the breather and not the right spot? hope to hear back thanks

This was wonderful!. Please also address fuel tank vent and filter plug that go together. They appear to be on the diagram on parts tree website, but do not exist in my model. Is it possible that 372 doesn't have a vent? If you know of course.... Fuel tank vent resembles approx 2 inch long multidiameter straw

How does the fuel tank get its vent air? I have a 266xp and put a new carb, fuel line and filter on it and did the initial settings on the carb and it will not start with out priming it, then runs up the rpm then dies like it's run out of fuel. Does the carb suck fuel into it, or is it pumped in somehow? I've tried a few things and I'm about to give up on it... Any help would be appreciated.

  • @mtsflorida

I have the same model. The fuel line works the same, however with a purge bulb you need the yellow line to connect to the tank vent and the other yellow fuel line to connect to the carburetor that has the port on the bulb side as opposed to the inlet port on the fuel hole next to the vent on that right side closest.

I have a Husqy 345 and the fuel filter looks bad but the hose, new. I'm going to try it with a replaced fuel filter only, first. How did you detach the hose from the engine end? What's happening is that the engine dies when I apply gas especially on horizontal cuts, like on a tree stump. Can you help?

Take it to the service, otherwise it may be difficult to remove the bolt on your own. For the muffler I suggest you can buy a muffler support bracket that is for 346xp, cut the right hand side support, bend the bracket so it fits the saw.
