    I'm loving riding this great machine. We did a Baja trip a few weeks ago and I was much more comfortable than on a bigger ADV bike.

    Caveat- I think ‘Run in’ oil should be left in the engine until the run in period is reached.

    is it really ok to use contact cleaner inside the engine?

  • @istra70

    @istra70

    Not really, but he drain it all out and wipe it. Any residual cleaner acts like a thinner when mixed with oil , dissolving it......definitely not good for engine nor gear box.

    @@istra70 relative to the 1700 cc’s of oil, the amount of contact cleaner which got into the engine isn’t enough to make any difference

    Contact cleaner evaporates like alcohol. And its safe on plastic unlike carb cleaner. Personally, I dont use it for engine.

    He’s a ‘qualified tech’ that says I’m not sure what the torque spec is, I don’t know but I do it this way? Really, using contact cleaner to clean out the filter area in the case.

    Step one should be to remove the oil fill plug. Imagine draining all that oil and you cant remove the fill plug!

    Never put the New oil Filter dry in the engine. Put it first in the New oil that He can soka up the oil. And if you put it dry in the engine dont give gas. 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️ After oil and Filter change let the engine run in at idle

    Always pre soak the filters in oil. That way when you start the engine it is actually getting oil instead of the filters soaking up the oil and the engine being starved for a short period.

    @@jameshind6644 Synthetic oils remain on the engine components for a long period of time, lubricating them when engine is started.

    True. But it is still a good idea to presoak the filters and it will not do any harm.
