    The OEM grips look like very good quality. I love the way this bike is coming along. Cheers

    Thank you as always for watching! It's going to look fantastic when finished, seriously. I have 1-2 more parts arriving then I can finally share some finished photos.

    I’ve got a LR too - and the same grips. I like the lock on grip, but they could have done a better job of wiring the right hand grip so it’s not hanging down

    I think I saw someone (maybe it was an Oxford grip) where the wire is pointing up instead. Unfortunately, it's only going to go in one way on this bike and down it is.

    Heated grips are great. Some people complained that they're not hot enough but I have no issues.

    Hi Adam, what kind of grip glue did you use, and did it stand up to repeated heating/cooling cycles of the grips? I just installed the same OEM heated grips with no grip glue on a 690, and the locking screw on the clutch side came loose in two rides. I lock-tighted the screw, but glue is definitely necessary. Thanks!

    Wow. That sucks. I am using the ProTaper grip glue with mine but not very much and I also used LocTite 243 (medium strength) on the screw. It’s been almost 2 years and a few thousand miles on and off road and it has not come off yet. Or been loose.

    @@AdamChandler86 Thanks for the quick and detailed response, Adam. I use the same medium LT and will also use the ProTaper glue in a sparing amount. I am glad that combination worked for you, as I thought I might have to use the JB PlasticWeld, and didn't want to have to go that hard core. Thanks again! James

    No Glue Needed on the clutch-side heated grip -- there is a tiny tightening screw under the flange rubber -- you'll need a 2.5mm hex Allen wrench -- see comment above

    @@raulmujica thank you, Raul. That is the screw that came loose, so I have lok-tited it and will use the grip glue if it comes loose again. Thank you!

    I installed these grips on my Svartpilen 701 and they work good but how exactly to operate them is not clear. I push the button and they seem to be on all the time and I don’t think they turn off or change heat settings

    You're right, no instructions at all. You hold down the power button for what seems like forever...5 seconds maybe once the bike is running then you click it to go through hot to cool temps. You have to hold down the button again to shut it down.

  • @AdamChandler86

    @AdamChandler86

    That came with the bike. Since this 701 is a "long range" model which is an OEM kit with 2 fuel tanks, it has a fuel tank switcher.

    Maybe plugged into the wrong ACC? Mine only works when the motor is running which is how I want it then you have to hold down the big grey button for 3-5 seconds to turn on the grips.
