The torque/hp relationship on the 592 is something else. At 8k you’re still basically at peak-ish hp and then hit peak torque! Curious how the 585 would come into its own after some use.

For a production faller . The biggest difference would be the difference in run time on a tank of fuel. And the size timber they were in. For myself , i would lean heavily to the 585. I had great success with the 288s once they put a decomp valve on them , spring mounts and slotted the cowling devider (the fore runner of the Air Flow system )

The piston cutouts on huskys do often seem to line up with the port's, wonder if it's not just weight but might reduce friction like air bearing. Heard talk about the larger clearances on newer saws I suspect that's not being sloppy but because they are designed to run hotter. Power curve does look very good.

Interesting casting on the ports - real rough, even exhaust with a little ray - like they meant to make it that way. Looking forward to seeing how you port them. They are already big strong saws, with big pistons, and limited at 12.5k. But, I'm sure you will get some excellent gains. Too big and heavy for me, old man - heh heh. I'll stick with the 70cc saws (Dolmar 7900, 372xp, 560) thanks for the vid.

135-140 isn’t considered low compression at all considering how the saws are designed . My personal 572xp is at 142psi and she starts easily, don’t run hot and will easily cut 25% quicker than a bone stocker with the same bar/chain thru the same wood … paid for itself many times over and with proper maintenance will run for many many more hours. It appears the “gains” that were easily available on previous models now come right from the factory. A tuned tube exhaust and some righteous flow-porting is about all a guy/gal needs to do if they want an excellent long-lasting work saw for firewood cutting, logging , or tree service. Besides , the dynamic compression is really what matters anyway - not what a gage says when pulled over at 50rpm 😂

@@dynojoemods2764 Please video your work. I have one, a beat rental from home depot, that needs a little love, and it would be cool to watch your video, and see how you go about it. I've had it out cutting a few times, but someone beat the heck out of it. Fixed the oiler - the bar came without any paint, so hot - probably fried the pto side crank seal. It runs excellent for about 15 minutes, and then starts getting weird. Lot's of times when I'm really cutting and trying to get something done, I don't want to mess with saws, so I usually just grab a different saw. But, when it runs good, it is pretty nice, and I'll bet would port a little and clean up things, and it would run even better.
