On every saw that I use I run some kind of muffler mod, weather it’s just gutting the baffles out or putting a pipe in it. On a 100+ day it definitely makes a difference in how hot they run.

We've gotten around a dozen 562 mark 2's since the beginning of last December and they are far superior then the original

Those knots on the last cut pulled it down and it never recovered. From all my testing it’s amazing what even one knot will do. In pine it’s hard to find clean wood. Then again maybe those many hours of R&R at Husq, Stihl and Echo etc they do design the muffs to work. Oh well that’s how it goes sometimes..

I’m commenting before the video plays. Looking forward to seeing the results. I have a Mk 2 and I am wanting to mod mine or make a totally new one. I’m a pipe welder and fitter so I do have the ability to do it and it not look like crap. I have been trying to find what would be a good pipe size and length for it and it seems that it’s a big secret 🤣😂. Someone was saying that it should be 80% of the exhaust port size. Much love from southeastern NC🤙

One thing to consider here is that it's a strato saw. Maybe easier flow is just causing more fresh (or charged) air to fly out the exhaust. Also consider the fact that those cans are huge and funny shaped. An exhaust pulse is just a pressure wave. The waves tend to bounce around inside the can. The port angle, the angles of the front wall of the can and interoir baffles, even the sides all do something to dictate what happens to that pressure wave as it propogates forward. It might be that the new outlet is just in a "dead spot" where the air doesn't want to go in the first place.

Muffler mods, benefit more in the trottle response or crack as some call it. I piped the 562 Mk II, loud as a top fuel dragster. Within secends after initial start-up, autotune was doing its thing. It keeps my saw much cooler.

I like the test. I’d like to see it with another hole on top as Corey corp mentioned. I opened a 550mk1 muffler up with a 1.25” hole on top and it definitely improved the speed as well.

Yep, as others have pointed out, you can see the knots in the last cut. But still surprising how minute of a difference in speed🤔

I wonder if auto tune was still looking for its best fuel mixture after you changed the muff? And there was some knots in the last cut. Interesting none the less.

The 2nd mod cut you cut through 3 knots in the middle of the wood. Which knots are harder wood which slowed the saw down.

Just received my 550xp mark 2. yesterday with 20in bar... did you reset auto tune properly after the muffler mod ?

Need to do something with the exhaust on mine if I ever get it back from the dealer. And it actually runs. First and last husqvarna I’ll own that’s for sure. Ok, well maybe a 592. Or a 550 if they go on sale again. lol 👍🏼

It looks like your chain was probably getting duller by the time you went to the mod . the mod sounded much better, cutting wise they were pretty much very similar. when I do my mods, it’ always the sound’s better . It’s the chain and bar that make it the difference. Always
