Husky Gets Groomed by a Monkey 🐶🐵

Үй жануарлары мен аңдар

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I took Franky, my Husky, out to Monkeyland today for the first time. Petey spent the majority of the time grooming him! It was just too cute! So, of course I had to video it. 😊
    Petey says, "But why mom, I'm just inspecting it"!!! Lol..it's funny how young monkeys almost always find it necessary to check out that particular anatomy on other animals right off! I was surprised he wasn't bothered by it at all...I thought for sure Frankie was gonna let Petey have it for a second there but he was so patient like you said! I have to say I was kind of glad you left that part in there. 99.9% of monkey channels will edit out anything like that that might be a bit "sensitive" including any evidence at all that their monkey exhibits VERY natural behaviors that are related to sexual behavior or masturbation. They all seem to not want anyone to know that monkeys do that and though not something one would want to sit and watch for long i think it is good that people see some of the things one might deal with that might not be do pleasant or polite when caring for a monkey...maybe it will allow some people to have more realistic expectations from owning a pet monkey and therefore cut down on monkeys being rehomed at such an alarmingly high rate!! I was so glad to hear you sounding a bit more like your old self today ...you have been in my thoughts very frequently.
    Hi there! Thank you so much for your comment. I think of you and your family a lot too. I hope all is well with you guys. I know you've been through a lot this year. This was a good day for me. I'm still struggling and have some really bad days. But, bringing the dogs out to be with Petey is a great distraction for me and I really enjoy watching Petey have a good time. I did consider editing out that part where Petey was inspecting Franky's privates. LOL I worried because I know a lot of children watch the channel, but I decided to leave it in because...like you said, it's just part of their nature. They are very curious and that's just part of having a monkey. I hope all is well with your family...sending you all great big monkey hugs!! 🐒💜
    Hi Belinda. Welcome to the channel! I agree that the "aggression" video is a very important one to watch for anyone thinking of getting a monkey! That's why I did the video...knowing I would get backlash from it...and I did. But, I want people to know that things happen and sometimes jumping to conclusions on the 'why' can have bad consequences. It takes a lot of thought and analyzing to figure out what's really going on. We are in the Midwest...in the state of Missouri. Again, welcome to the channel...and thanks for your comment! 💚
    @@belindakharbaugh8163 I don't know if it's possible, but you could maybe check into whether the vet can file the canines down instead of pulling them. That's what I had done with Kiara. It just broke my heart to think of having her canines pulled, so I asked if they could file them instead and they were able to. It would just depend on how deep the pulp is in those canines. But, our vet was able to XRay her teeth to see how safely she was able to file them. As long as they don't file into the pulp area, it's completely safe. It doesn't cause any pain and it doesn't affect their ability to chew food. Just a thought and possibly a different solution.
    Hi Snowmanslushie. Yeah, Franky was born with a non-functional deformed leg. He was a rescue as the breeder took him to the vet to have him put down because of his leg. So, the vet called a rescue shelter. My daughter fosters rescue dogs and she brought him home to foster when he was 6 weeks old...and well, I took one look at him and decided he was going to stay with me. So, I adopted him. When I took him to the vet for the first time, he recommended amputating that leg because it wasn't actually attached to his body correctly and he risked getting hurt if he fell on it. So, that's why he has only 3 legs. But, you wouldn't know it by watching him play and run! LOL That little guy can run just as fast with only 3 legs. It's incredible the amount of resilience they have.
    Hi Broom Rider. No, I don't run a sanctuary. But, Petey is a rescue. What is it that you see that you feel is disgusting? I treat him really good and try to provide the best life possible for him in captivity. This outdoor enclosure was built for him. Did you watch the entire video? Have you watched any of the other videos? Or, is your opinion based on a single incident within this particular video? I'm trying to figure out what it is that would make you feel that way. If it was maybe the part where I get on to him for messing with the dog's private area, that was for his own protection as I worried the dog would get defensive toward him and maybe hurt him.
    @@KiarasKorner Well, since you asked… 1. No primate should be kept on its own. They are social animals and need the company of their own kind to stay emotionally and mentally healthy. 2. You smacked Petey more than once, whether or not it was gentle, makes no difference. He is a monkey, not a child. 3. If you are not a licensed rehab expert, you have no business keeping him in captivity. Primates are not pets. 4. You are putting Petey at risk by bringing in the dog, as you yourself admitted, they have had problems in the past and you cannot predict what will happen whilst they interact. If you truly care for Petey, you will do the right thing and find an appropriate and suitable home. You may think you know better, but I can promise you, you don’t.
    @@broomrider4699 Awe, I see...ok...you don't follow the channel, so you couldn't possibly have known the situation. 1. You are absolutely correct in that no monkey should be kept on its own. I had another monkey that passed away about a month before this video. So, Petey wasn't a single monkey until that happened. And I was able to get him a brother a few months ago, so he was a single monkey for only a couple of months. 2. I didn't smack him! I tapped him because he wasn't responding to my verbal commands and I was concerned about the possible outcome (which I will address in #4). 3. Not being a licensed rehab expert doesn't mean I have no business keeping him. Primates don't make good pets, I will agree with anyone stating that. But, I do provide him with a great home, a lot of love and attention, plenty of engagement, multiple large indoor enclosures for during the winter, a huge outdoor enclosure, and lots of foraging opportunities. He eats a nutritious, primate appropriate diet and gets regular vet care. 4. There was a slight...very slight...risk in bringing my husky out to spend time with him. Sometimes we have to weigh the benefits to the risks and in this case I felt the benefits outweighed any possible slight risk of danger. Since he was mourning the loss of his monkey buddy, I was trying to provide him with a variety of interactions to help him cope. He was very happy to spend time with my husky and I still feel it was worth it to allow that to happen. With all that being said...I'm not trying to convince you of anything. You are entitled to feel how you do about the situation. But, you're way off. And you may think you know better, but I can promise you...you don't. I have a contact at a sanctuary that I speak with on occasion about my monkeys. They absolutely do not condone monkeys as pets, but they are so generous with providing me information and suggestions on making their lives better. I follow their advice. And I've been told by them it's not always best to just send them to a sanctuary. Here in the United States, sanctuaries are full to capacity and it's difficult to find one that is able to take in another monkey. Sanctuaries need to be reserved for crisis situations for abused and neglected monkeys. So, as long as I'm able to care for them appropriately and provide for their needs, it's better for them to remain where they are. The problem comes in that most people can't, or aren't willing to go to the lengths I do for them. I do appreciate your concern, as I am concerned for many monkeys kept in captivity. Petey is a classic example of that. He came from a home where he was neglected and kept in a very tiny cage all day by himself with no interaction...and has lasting effects from it...and I've been working with him on it. He's come a long way and is a very happy monkey now.
    @@KiarasKorner Kiara, I humbly apologise. I get so angry at seeing so many animals being exploited online that my emotions get the better of me. Not many animal carers are like you. My husband was an animal activist for many years and it almost broke him. Seeing so many people keeping and mistreating animals that have no business having them, is a never ending nightmare. Take Joe Exotic for example. Everywhere on KZread, we see more and more of these kinds of people. Many states in America have policies that are far too lenient when it comes to keeping exotic pets. The laws need to be changed, desperately. Unfortunately, because of these laws, and long before we knew better, many thousands of animals suffer unnecessarily because of the demand for exotic animal species. So many are killed just so their babies can be taken and some wanker makes money. It is disgusting! We were active in saving Orangutans 🦧 for quite a few years and we are able to say that we were able to save a number of lives, but their exploitation continues as it does for too many species. And the amount of people that turn a blind eye to the disgraceful exploitation of domestic animals angers me no end. Horses being killed because they don’t win races. Greyhounds sent to China for the dogmeat industry because they are too slow, or they are simply shot and buried without anyone knowing or caring. I could go on and on for weeks. I am sincerely sorry for directing my anger at you before knowing more of your story. I will subscribe and watch more of your videos. Please forgive me.
    @@broomrider4699 Not a problem. Apology accepted. We're on the same page. The abuse and neglect that goes on with any type of animal just breaks my heart. I can't even watch the SPCA commercials on abandoned and abused dogs...it makes me cry. There are only a few monkey channels on KZread that I can watch because to me most of them border abuse, at the very least....and I especially have a soft spot for monkeys. I agree that the laws on exotic animals in the United States is way too lax. There are quite a few states that ban the ownership of primates in captivity. Even with the states that do allow it, most don't even require a permit...which I think it ridiculous! My state is one of them and I really wish a permit were required where there had to be inspections and certain conditions met in order to keep one. That's one reason our sanctuaries are so full. I'm not necessarily opposed to keeping primates in captivity (I have 2 myself), but I do think there should be requirements met to ensure they are housed correctly and taken care of appropriately. Although I must admit, the process by which they are bred and sold in the United States breaks my heart. Petey was a rescue, but when I lost my other monkey I knew I had to get him another one as soon as possible. It's so important for their well being to have at least one other monkey of the same species. And since Petey had already been around another monkey for quite some time, I felt it was even more important for him to not be a single monkey for very long. It can take months or years to find another Vervet species that needs rescued. And I felt Petey couldn't wait that long. So, I went against my own heart and got one from a private zoo facility (under a little better conditions that getting one from a regular breeder and he was a little older than they are when sold by a breeder). And after I picked him up, I cried all the way back to the hotel because I knew he was taken from his mother. It was really hard on me, but I knew he was going to a great home and would be well taken care of...and would enjoy having Petey as a brother. They get along really well and the new one just adores Petey! I so much wanted to tell them, just give me the momma too! But, I knew that wouldn't happen. If I had the funding, I would open an actual sanctuary for unwanted, neglected, and abused monkeys. I want to thank you and your husband for your dedication to helping animals...and to being a part of saving Orangutans. They are such beautiful and majestic animals!
    What's wrong with you ? Rarely have i seen such a large and very well thought-out enclosure for primates. He has every possible freedom of movement in this place. Moreover, he is not stuffed into stupid doll clothes and does not vegetate in a small, dirty cage. He also has social contacts, even if they are with other species. You obviously lack social skills due to your sensless insults. You should work on that. By the way you should know that human feeding of wild animals is absolutely wrong. In Thailand you already have enough problems with primates in cities because you make a tourist attraction out of it. This is animal abuse. Your commitment would be of better use there.
