I will be revisiting this video. The piston seal failed today on my Husky, 26 gallon. (Right in the middle off the job, when it was going SO WELL)! Pissed me off. Had to go purchase a new McGraw 21 gallon to continue. I love my Husky, so it WILL BE repaired. Thanks for your great video & demonstration! I've subscribed and I look forward to more fix it yourself advice. Thanks, TII

Just for the sake of completeness, the starting capacitor only fires for a second or two with increased amperage to get the motor spinning, then cuts over to the running capacitor until the unit kicks off. You can hear the change if your location is dead silent as there will be an audible click, both with the electronics and mechanical bits 'switching gear'. Electric motors have both a Peak horsepower and a running horsepower (continuous), though which one they state often falls to the marketing vultures. The home market will rate their motors at peak for that split second it can hit that mark, but the running rating is somewhere between 3/4 and half the peak number. Most notorious is the "5hp SPL", which runs continuous between 2.25-3hp, even though the marketing will say it's a 5hp. Industrial motors *normally default to the continuous rating only, but they are also most often either strictly 220 or 3 phase (some variant between 230-460 volts). You can do the math on the motor label by multiplying the volts x amps=watts, divide by 742, then decide how much you got ripped off by marketing.

Just fixed one of these today. To service the cylinder head, remove the motor.. no need to cut a notch. The check valve is also unique to these models. Fortunately, Home Depot sells them for cheaper than eBay. Watch for the unloader and be very careful with it as it is made of really cheap die cast and will break very easily. They do not sell unloaders separately; only as part of the pressure switch.

Thanks for the video, it helpful I have a question: how to tide should be the release pressure tube, located just below the pressure valve. Because the mine feels like loose.

Ah, unfortunately no. The place I usually go, www.ereplacementparts.com/shroudtop-p-2577654.html, lists it for $55 and its a "special order" item on top of that, so no telling how long it takes to ship.

Hello I have a question I’m a little confused… So what was the whole problem, the Governor or the Capacitor??

I have that same model but it starts for a second and turns off. One time it actually filled all the way up but when I bled some air off it wouldn't kick back on. Any suggestions?

I would try replacing the capacitors. Most likely you have a bad Running capacitor, which you can find here: www.ereplacementparts.com/capacitor-running-motor50f250vac-bkt-p-2577626.html. If that doesn't do it, you may try also replacing the Starting capacitor: www.ereplacementparts.com/capacitor-starting-motor250f125vac-bkt-p-2577627.html Hope that helps!

My first guess would be probably the starting capacitor. Does it turn a few times then stop or does it not try to turn at all?

Notonebuttwo Othman its extremely easy. loosen the bolt holding the rod onto the outdrive from the motor, then slide the piston right out. Installation is the reverse. pushing the piston into the sleeve first makes installation easier.

scott o The valves and cylinder head go onto the crankcase at the same time as the head bolts go through both. Simply put the valves onto the head as I show at 2:32, then attach the head in the orientation I show at 4:25. Use the inlet air filter for orientation reference.
