Husky 72 Inch Toolbox Review In Matte Blue

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

This video is a review of the Husky 72 inch blue tool chest. It comes with an adjustable top, 18 drawers, and built with 19 gauge steel. I go over the options and provide some reasons why I chose this over other tool chests.
The tool chest was easy to unbox and assemble. Its easy to move around has a very nice adjustable top an under top storage. The black accents with with the blue provides a nice visual touch. It's very easy to clean an maintain. Feels durable enough for anything a homeowner or light mechanic would use it for. Has only one flaw that I have found as the bottom tool drawer is small at 7" deep and I could have used a 9" drawer to house my battery powered circular saw. I think one drawer this height would be nice to have.

    Thanks for your comments. I still really enjoy mine and it now loaded up to the brim with tools. Plus it still has room for more. Though I probably would not want to have the wood top in an auto shop without some protection, but it should hold up to the abuse.

    I currently have the 52" Husky in matte black with the adjustable top that was purchased in December 2020. I have not experienced any issues/problems and I definitely do not regret the purchase. As a suggestion you can remove the crank handle to power the top by chucking a 10mm hex bit socket with either a drill or impact driver. Additionally to protect the top, add a coat of Johnson's Paste Wax which also adds a nice sheen.

    Thx for stopping by and dropping a comment. I agree there isn't anything that I regret about the purchase. The only issue was to have at least one taller bottom drawer for my battery circular saw. I have found that the storage under the top is great for my long levels and other flat and long tools. A great box for the homeowner or even someone that wasn't heavy into shop work as the wood top may not hold up to the abuse or the chemicals and oil.

    Its one of the reasons why I bought Husky. With the HF box they have the silver door pulls that I think it looks cheap. However, the black door pulls with the blue looked good. Husky has a white too but I think it would look dirty more in my garage. Though no matter what color it's a really nice box and very happy with the purchase even though it cost me a bit more for the color.

    I just recently bought this exact box, color and all. I've had it for about two weeks and I have a love-hate relationship with it. And it all has to do with the depth of the drawers. I can't organize my tools the way I want and it bugs the living crap out of me. I like to put my pliers and such in a rack and you can't do that with any drawer other than the bottom drawers and that's no good. I couldn't decide between this one and the US Genereal, but I chose the Husky purely on asthetics, bad move on my part. Don't get me wrong, this is a great box, it's just not working out for me the way that I want it to. I'm thinking about doing some modifications on it such as cutting the bottom out of the more shallow drawer and welding some sides between the 1 1/2" drawer and the 2 1/2" inch drawer giving me a 4" drawer. It works on paper and in my head, but that doesn't always translate well in to real life, we shall see. Great video and presentation by the way.

    Thanks for your adding some other things to the list so that others can better decide which is best for them. I'll agree to that, if some of the draws had different depths it would be better suited. However, as you said it's s great box and IMO looks and feels better than others. I see US general has started to update theirs but one item I fell in love on this box that I thought I'd really dislike is the elevated work top. The hidden storage space is great for longer items and cannot see another toolbox that had this ability. My levels and my long torque wrenches all fit.

    I still really love mine but now they cost more and for some that may be hard to swallow cost wise. In the original video I mentioned I wish they had the bottom left draw bigger but now I found that it works quite well as I've added more battery tools to it and it's completely full, which is fine. Also, harbor freight added new colors which now have black instead of silver draw pulls which I did not like. However, i still think this box is better, at least for my needs. Thanks for stopping by and sharing.

    That is a true statement. I have been using the handle as I don't always raise and lower the top that much. When I do I raise it enough to get my long levels out or my torque wrenches. With that said it's been about a year with the chest and very happy with the purchase. Ill think about doing a 1yr video just to show an update.

    @autoxadvice4159

    No. I haven't found any weak points other than what I mention in the video of the bottom drawer wasn't deep enough for my battery powered circular saw. Bad on my part because I didn't measure it. The adjustable top is nicer than what I was anticipating as I can put long items under there or items I don't use too much. I'm really still happy that most of all my tools are now in one location.

    I get what you are saying. If i removed the blade and push back the blade guard and sit it into the bottom of the drawer, it will fit. If you look at some of the other Husky tool boxes they will call out the lower drawers at 9" for battery tools. This way you don't have to remove the blade. I still like this toolbox even with the smaller lower drawers.

    It's not easy to drop 700-1500 on a tool box but for me I out grew my smaller box and tools were unorganized. Now I have enough space to last quite awhile. Plus it's a mobile work bench for those larger projects. I wouldn't be doing any heavy automotive work on the word to but I can always lay down an extra layer to protect the top of required.

    Hows the "tippy" factor with having 6 wheels rather than 4?

  • @autoxadvice4159

    @autoxadvice4159

    5 ай бұрын

    Not 100% what you are asking about "tippy" with 6 wheels. I have no issues getting this box moved around my garage with the six wheel configuration. My garage concrete isn't all that level as it was two separate pads and not all level. I don't move it around all the time cause it's a pretty heavy beast now. Besides using it as a tool box I used it for cutting lengthy deck boards as it's top is height adjustable and I could match it with the height of my chop box. I've had no issues with this box and now it's fully loaded and it's been great.

    Oh it could of course if your concrete is low on both ends from where the middle wheels are. But it has never impacted my work and I never really noticed it. Like I said my concrete is anything but level, but it doesn't have any large surface cracks that make i the tool box wheels get stuck.

    Mine is now packed full of mechanic and wood working tools. My top middle drawer is all sockets. Bottom middle draw is air tools and more automotive tools. Have my battery tools in bottom left. No issues with opening closing the drawers. If you are doing heavy automotive your concern should be the top wooden top. That part will get abused if you are throwing greasy parts on top. Would be good to see what others have to say on this model as well.
