To those with low motivation/energy, I'd suggest having as few possessions as possible. The less you have, the less you have to pick up. I can relate. Depression is a beast.

I'm so tired of the misuse of this word. He's not a "partner" if he doesn't help his "partner." "Partners" share each others' loads as a team. He helps her and she helps him = "partner." He's basically just someone she's dating, not a "partner.".

This woman’s issue is not “not having time to clean". It’s a psychological issue, and she desperately needs to seek professional help. Unless she gets to the core reason for why she is living in these conditions, when her house is cleaned out and put in order, it will be no time at all until it goes right back to the way it was. Such a shame that her children had to live in these filthy conditions. Worrying about getting married should be last on her list of priorities!

I agree, many parents are just barely able to raise children due to work, health, attitude and don't always pass on those skills. Even as we go on we need to check what we've learned as time, options change. Or as an example we learn that products we thought were tried and true are found to not be safe. US brand Tide on EWG comes to mind.

He's been with her for 10 years?! Why has he never pitched in and lent a hand? Or if he can't handle it, why hasn't he hired a cleaner to help her out? She's working and studying and has a couple of kids. Does he have all that going on? Why can't he at least mow her lawn??! Having said all that though, it's obvious she is very disorganised and doesn't seem to even know the basics. If the kids are old enough, they need to help! Set aside Saturdays to tackle it. Who would pull clean wash out onto a filthy floor?!! And pile it in a big, stinking pile on that rack? Or not use cleaner on the bathroom sink?! When he said he would "make sure it gets cleaned" instead of "I'll help and make sure it stays clean", my blood boiled. I hope I'm wrong, but I can't see them as a couple living together. She's besotted; him I'm not so sure. Sorry. Best of luck though.

The problem with drying clothes inside when it is raining is that in the UK the humidity outside is often so high that opening windows and doors does not help if you have 90 - 95% humidity outside then an open window is not going to get rid of damp inside. The only way I solved it was a dehumidifier. Cheaper than a dryer and turning the heating way up. I know this is the least of this ladies problems - I think she needs counselling.

Many ppl think it's just laziness and sometimes it is but, often women are expected to keep everything in the house up despite working full time themselves. This lady is stretched too far with no help from her husband. I'm sure she's not feeling very supported or loved. I'm sure she is too embarrassed to ask from help from ppl she knows. This woman has a big problem…… Laziness I had 3 children under 6 and was working full time on night shift as a nurse in Emergency department . Looking after the kids during the day, taking the eldest ones to school and back, doing the shopping, and ironing and washing etc…I used to do all the housework and would go back to work the next night with only 4 hours sleep. And my house had never been in that state, it was always totally cleaned. If you do it as it comes and do not wait, then your house should be always in order. She is lazy…….

Well good for you but humans are all different and some people have mental health issues, ADHD and other health issues. Labelling someone as ' lazy' is very judgemental, it's not kind of useful. Where is your empathy and compassion, if you are a nurse I would hope that you would have buckets of both.

Hoarding is a mental illness. It is extremely complex. My childhood home ended up becoming a hoarding situation after I moved out and my mom left the relationship. It’s really sad. You also can’t just clean the house. The person who lives there needs therapy and supports to help the, learn life skills.

I have t say that if this man has been with her 10 years, he could pitch in too at least with the garden. She is in that big house alone by the looks of things.. The way he said ONE of the biggest issues is the mess ,made me wonder whether that was his get out of jail free statement .. a sort of, right ,now that little problem is addressed we'll look at the next one. The thing is, if he were to move in with her (I only watched half the video) , is he then going to still treat it as her problem and her home ,he is living in ,or is he going to be fair and help keep it tidy?

I am always a bit concerned when I see someone come in and clean a home like this while the homeowner is absent because I can't help but wonder how many weeks it will take for her to get it right back in this same condition. MAYBE if she cleans it herself she will be able to maintain it a bit better. I think the BF should wait a while to move in so he can see if this is a one time thing with her or if she actually keeps her house relatively clean.

Unless her children are under 10yo they should be helping with learning about chores. It’s satisfying at the end but us ADHD’ers go through visceral pain when experiencing something that is joyless and tedious. Your brain just weights 100 pounds as you move from item to item, room to room, because you aren’t meeting its needs and you are forcing it to focus on cleaning. a lot of people don’t have this strength, most the time I don’t either. But combine a mental illness that’s already there and add grief? I don’t blame this woman in the slightest.

Bleach should not be mixed with other chemicals, the cheap and cheerful method getting lime scale off is ketsup. Its the vinegar in that condiment that does the work. Put on the area inquestion and leave for a day while your doing other stuff , then return later and rinse it down the drain. Speaking of drains, if you have a septic system? Dont put bleach down it as it will ruin the function of the system as it will leave a thousand gallon tank full of solid waste. The enzyme in the tank break up solids in between pump outs. The production of this show needs to place warnings to consumers about the use of the product they suggest youbuse to clean your house. Baking soda as its known in the states can be used with dish soap to better clean that nasty grill then just the soda alone.
