Thanks for posting this. I never got to see any of it since our power was knocked out for 3 days. We had to listen to a battery operated AM/FM radio and read the newspaper by the fireplace. Newsday showed up every day while this madness was going on. The USPS whose motto is, "Neither rain, snow, nor gloom of night..." was NOWHERE to be seen for a week. The boardwalk took a while to be reconstructed, but it's lovely. Lots of folks still not in their houses yet!

My daughter is a postal carrier in Texas.. They do not send them out in hurricanes or anything dangerous. They do have concerned families!

what amazes me is the people on the beach at 5pm...and how the tide was already above hightide level 5 hours before high tide,..this should have been a warning to those still in the area to get out...i rode out the storm along the bay in queens...thank god we moved our cars and trucks well inland and cabbed it back also lucky the house i was in was raised 9ft in the 69 hurricane...so we lucked out with no damage to the house...one of the craziest nights of my life...thanks for capturing it!

Great documentation of the rise of the sea level! I would have been scared shitless if I was up in on one of those buildings on the water. I was up on the north shore of Nassau, grilling dinner for my fam. Went to work in College pt. the following day. They never lost power there. I was out for 10 days. Had it way easier than most.

Well, if we remember, Sandy hit full force on Long Island on the afternoon of 10/29/12. That is what was nuts about this storm, it was so drawn out and non-stop. I remember being on my roof on 10/28 cleaning my gutters on Sunday, 10/28- probably at about the same time that this video begins. Where I am (Nesconset, L.I.) didn't feel major shit until about 4pm. We lost power at about 4:45 then endured a LONG night of wind and rain! Woke up the next morning to trees down everywhere. Neighbor helping neighbor for the next 10 days...

Looking at where the water is at about 2:00, the night before the storm.... YO, Leave! I love storms though, and if I had property near the water I would have most likely stayed too..

I believe those flashing lights at 10:02 , northwest of you filming, might be transformers blowing in lower Manhattan. I live in Bayswater on the bay facing west, view of the city and thats about the time it started happening. It was pretty wild. Either way, I believe those are transformers blowing somewhere. Nice video.

We are going to fight through this. We are going to rebuild so it looks visually unaffected like the storm never happened. We are going to get through it. Too many memory's will disappear if we don't

Thank you for documenting the event, make sure city officials view it. This shows the need for a better game plan for storm protection, if in fact, that is actually possible. 2 rows of 25 foot dunes parallel to the boardwalk, 100 feet apart and back filled along with jetties 3 times the present size might do the trick. Would only work if built from inlet to inlet. Don't forget back flooding from the bay side, the other problem the barrier island faces.
