I think it’s great you chose to ride out the hurricane with PawPaw and GiGi. I doubt they would ask you too, but appreciate your decision to be at their house.

Norma here. Thanks for staying with Gigi and Paw Paw during this storm. Hopefully, you all now realize the power of wind. Should a strong Hurricane ever come through, everyone will need to really prepare better. I know you guys have mostly experienced flooding, but hurricane and tropical storm winds can be extremely destructive as well. There isn’t much you can do about the trees except to cut down any that are not strong enough to withstand strong winds, but loose and unsecured items outdoors can and will become dangerous projectiles. I speak from experience.

@@roxannabloom1540 , They mostly have experienced flooding events more than wind events. Sorry, but I just think they under estimated the damage that even tropical storm force winds can cause and could have prepared better.

@steveberdie7745 I'm not sure what else they could've done. They all made sure they had plenty of gas to run generators because they knew they would lose power. What else would you have had them do? They all survived Harvey, then Elemda & now Beryl. That's just been in the last 6 years. Who knows how many were before that.

@@roxannabloom1540 , The only thing they could have dine better was to either secure loose items or bring them inside, especially things like lawn chairs, hanging decorations, etc. If the winds and gusts had been any stronger, something as simple as a flower pot could become a projectile and blow right through a window. I’ve been through Cat 3 hurricanes and many tropical storms that were packing very powerful winds. A port a potty from a construction site down the road blew away and hit our front door. Our mailbox was ripped out of the ground and ended up a few blocks away. Our patio ceiling fan was pulled right out of the metal roof and the fan blades were slamming against the shutters covering our patio door.

Ben, you are absolutely correct about how things can get worse during a hurricane. I went through Hurricane Camille in 1969. Category 5. We lived in Biloxi, Mississippi at the time. 175 miles an hour winds. Yes it definitely can get worse.

Great video. Being from Florida I'm no stranger to these storms. the howling of the wind can be so interesting. I also found when the eye crosses over you and it goes the opposite direction those winds seem worse. Glad everyone is ok

You're a thoughtful Grandson to have positioned yourself at your Grandparents' house during the Hurricane moving through their area. Even Cat 1 Hurricanes can have tornadoes touch down so your presence would have been a comfort. If there are any Cat 2+, I hope everyone evacuates from the Hill for precautionary safety. Great footage to show what it was like!
