Hunting in Idaho with a bull then wolves. Watch a wolf howling.
Спорт
While hunting OTC public land here in Idaho we came across this. It was cool to witness but a bummer all in the same. Wolves after elk. Who knows how far these elk will get pushed. The last two minutes of the video is just wolves howling nothing really to see just hear. Enjoy.

American fitness The more encounters I have the more I think those old tales of wolves killing people were exaggerated or just feral dogs mistaken for wolves I’ve never felt threatened or know of anyone who was threatened by wolves unless they had dogs with em
@americanfitness8215

Cody G while it is true dogs were a huge concern back then, with the reintroduction to yellowstone, and the expansion after, it is now thought that wolves are so terrified of people, because humans nearly wiped them out with poison, modern firearms, and traps creating a sort of temporary hunting pressure, because they were such a big threat. (some scientists think that black wolves are part feral dog.) I’m not saying Wikipedia is a good source, but if you go to the wolf attack page on North America it states there has only been two fatal attacks from healthy wolves recently, the fatal wolf page has at least twenty older eateries where the wolves were never proven healthy or unhealthy, so it is not marked on the national park systems data base and those are not counting the confirmed rabid or sick attacks.

American fitness I just feel like it goes against everything we know now I read a report that in the 1800s on the Korean Peninsula wolves killed more people then tigers Amur leopards brown bears asiatic black bears combined. I feel like that can’t be true and it’s quite obvious that wolf attacks were either exaggerated or mistaken for a different animal I just don’t see them ever attacking someone

Asmr seizure chewing (with bug buzzing!) is a great alternative title. It was hard to enjoy the howls through that mess accompanied by the whispering....

Beautiful Wilderness in Idaho. In Portugal we do not have such Wildlife! Here wolves were killed from South to almost the North. Exist only a few packs in the North of Portugal. Great quality video. Awesome to see wolves in that beautiful nature! Thanks for sharing.
Wolves seem so majestic
Thats just crazy! Thanks for recording all that, even if it was during your snack break. When you guys moved on did you decide to keep following the elk or head towards the truck? Is the the first time you've ran into wolves up close?
I've been out a couple times in the McCall zone (i only get a day or so on the weekend usually) and haven't heard a bugle or cow or received a response to cow calling. Is it just me or have the elk taken a vow of silence to keep away from the wolves and such?
“ stick one of those things” 😂
Very cool to catch that on video. It's funny how all those goosebumps make you grip you pistol a little tighter. I've had many experiences in Michigan with coyotes. Next time try howling back and check their reaction!

Had a big pack come in while elk hunting archery. Over 10 wolves. Had been working a set up with elk decoys. 3 made themselves seen while the rest charged and got into place to push and surround us. Right before dark. Grabbed the decoys down.
The fact that they were sending out warning calls. you were definitely in their sights.
A wondrefull vidéo. Thank you.
Nice video. Glad to see that neither of you were alone by yourselves out there. 4 eyes is a lot better than ONLY 2 looking around if they were to try and ambush you. I'd a probably already pissed my pants...lol.

Now that is AWESOME guys! Thanks for the video. I live in Nor. California, and we are awaiting the wolves re-arrival. We'd love to have them back!! They'd love it here too, except for the armed ranchers. The howling is awesome and beautiful. But what would really scare me are bigfoot howls in the night. We did have OR-7 and others in the Shasta Area in the past years. One wolf even got down to the Northern Sierras near I-80. there was a wolf pack and pups that photos were taken of in the Siskiyous as well.
That was cool. The trolls need to get over the chewing thing. Felt like I was there hanging with my buds. A unique situation. Sucks they drove off the Elk.
A dream that I will struggle to reach is to go to the USA and see the wildlife up close....

@@gmee123 Spent my entire life in the mountains of Idaho just like this video (in fact in the exact same area of New Meadows and other surrounding sites like Warm Lake). Endless hours in the vast wilderness right in the heart of wolf territory, sleeping right on the ground camping alone and/or with groups. I couldn't even tell you one instance where wolves posed a threat to me or anyone else I know, despite then being clearly all around us on multiple occasions. By all means keep your witts about you, but the only thing you need to worry about being harmed up here is any dogs you bring along with you or children straying off. Wolves seem to avoid people at all costs and when they do decide to check things out it is usually around camp at night and you didn't even know it happened until you awoke the next day to see tracks all over the place.

@@y404mog when they are howling they are communicating. If you think they are all in one spot howling you are wrong. Best hope some of their buddies are not on the other side of you. A pack sends scouts miles away to look for sign of prey. They will also send out small hunting parties. They do not always travel in full force. Often people see one wolf and think it is a lone wolf, when it belongs to a pack and is just making the rounds scouting. Scouts can travel many miles before returning in a very short time.
Cool experience
Don't mean to be that guy and I didn't read all the comments, but did the two behind the camera even stop to think that since they were calling that maybe they had suddenly become the hunted? A lone prey animal outside the "herd" is much easier to take down.

Everyone always cries like little girls about the big bad wolf but,,,, Is THIS not - apart of being & hunting in their world ??? Those elk weren't too alarmed by the trailing wolves. Them elk are truly wild & harder to get to than those who live at the end of a farmers field or within a short commute to downtown hippyville. . . . . .

I could tell you where to go to see them from vehicles in late October/early November in Idaho. Also, They need to be hunted as these Canadian gray wolves are killing the elk numbers in many areas like the frank church. People who do not live here do not understand nor do they spend the time in the woods. However, they are very cool to see in the wild.

PokerMan I believe I know what places to go to, to see wolves. Northern shore area lake Superior, northern Ontario, Yakk ( so? ) valley Montana, Yellowknife region NWT, Alaska, Boundary Water area Minnesota, Northern Quebec, BC, Saw tooth Mountains, ID, Alaska, Yukon T. I have been in woods from Montana to NC Maine. Saw (5 FT -10FT away ) 3 of north America's most dangerous animals. Moose, coyote, and b. Bear. I would like to know where you would go in the car to see wolves ? Also would use some excellent live stock guard dogs if I was a rancher. They cut predation down by 80 % in places in the west.

The fawn in distress will call them right in for a close shot!
We can hear you chewing
Why didn't you guys lob some arrows at those wolves?
The first wolves you heard started howling to call other wolves in order to form a pack so they could chase the elk in turns and wear the elk out so they could catch them, then guess what happens to the elk ?????
@adamaprimo9023

What unnerves me about wolves is that they can run their prey to exhaustion over a bunch of kilometres. Then they move in for the kill.
what an experience
The chewing
Ravens like to follow wolves. Once the wolves make a kill the ravens will start calling to other ravens. They will wait for the wolves to feast then it will be their turn. If you are ever able to witness raven behavior I highly recommend. They raise quite a ruckus. I often take note of the ravens. If you get too close they will try to lead you away from a kill. I often check wolf and lion kills for dead heads. I figure out where a kill is from hundreds of yards away. Look out ravens will bust you and notify feeding ravens and they will disperse if you get too close when pin pointing. Cant say for sure these wolves made a kill yet. By patient behavior of the single raven I would say no. Those wolves might push those elk a couple days. But ravens are usually quiet and wait before calling. I dont usually see them screaming and flocking till predator leaves.

What more could you ask for on a hunt ? Yes it sucks to see potential game move away but, This is going back 1000's of years in time..!!! Just think of how much more game there was back just a few hundred years ago - Millions more elk / deer / bison - everything.....
And then the mosquito arrived at 2:29 🤣 leaving at 2:35

Inexperienced hunters. When a wolf howls it is doing 1 of 2 things. 1) They are indicating to the rest of the pack that they had caught a scent and are initiating hunting. 2) Warning a rival pack of wolves to stay out of their territory.
