When autumn arrives on the US East Coast, surfers go on red alert for hurricane swells. For pros like Balaram Stack, who's from New York, that means dropping everything and sprinting to the airport for a last-minute flight to the Caribbean for some warm, blue tubes with locals like Brian Toth. The fire drill came late last month. When a hurricane moved up the East Coast, filmer Jacob Vanderwork jumped on a plane to meet Stack, Toth, Marley Pugliell, and other rippers in Puerto Rico. He was not disappointed.

Surfers call Puerto Rico "Hawaii of the Caribbean" for a reason.
Lived in PR for several years, I was stationed at Ramey and lived on the cliff over looking surfers beach. Table Tops was my favorite surf spot and of the 3 years I surfed that place I never saw anyone surf on the right side of the table top rock. I didn't even realize it broke like that..

I lived in Ramey from 1974 till 2003 and started bodyboarding in 1985. Used to walk from A street to surfers beach and table top to many times surf it with few people and sometimes alone. It's true by those times nobody try to surf that spot a little north of table top and neither ever nobody surf survival, it was suicidal we used to say. and in reality it is specially on big days. Survival works best and it's most makeable on pure west or a west Northwest swell so the left opens up more and allows for more makeable barrels and rides. Table top and backdoor table top on the contrary and it is remarkable for being the two spots so close together works best on north or northeast swells because it favors the right or the other side of the two peaks. Any dominant component of northerly or northeasterly swell is no good for survival.The opposite is for table top.

Survival, the left next to table top I used to live 5 minutes walking from these place and surfed it many times with nobody out in the late 80s and 90s.
i need to know what this soundtrack is called!!!
After living in Hawaii I know PR waves are world class. Even though the spot wasn't named I know it's "wrecked ship"...don't clarify on line...
