Go on facebook and search the group section for beaters wanted , jobs for beaters and pickers up add your location , if you have a dog & your availability I'm sure you will find a local shoot

stephen hothersall do I need a dog, I have a lab puppy that I would love to have as a gun dog she’s not old enough for proper training yet.

@@thomaspetch6221 no you dont have to have a dog to go beating as long as you listen to what you are told work hard and are reliable you will be a good beater and a valued member of the shoot. Having a well behaved dog tho is a big advantage in the beating line as a dog can cover more ground then a single beater can & will be able to get into thicker dense cover then a person & flush the birds out for the guns. I would suggest finding a shoot first going on it without your dog & getting a lay of the land & how the drives work & ask the shoot captain or gamekeeper if you may bring your dog along & explain it's still a pup and learning

I'd have lost my damned mind if I was trying to give a safety rundown and the guys were walking and chatting with their backs to me. Maybe he'd already given it in French?

@@bunnybasheruk Actually, now that I think of it it's rude either way. My experience with the French makes me think it's pretty overly French of them, but they could also just be jackasses.

It looks rude, but it could be that it is a different group of hunters, also doing the safety brief. In Germany we conduct a briefing for the complete Hunting Team which is followed by a second briefing for the little group (Anstellergruppe) a designated Hunter (Ansteller) is responsible for. Sometimes you have special instructions/limitations etc only for a few hunters.

I'll say, the French definitely do things differently.

That is from Ducks not hogs.

Feral hogs are a popular game animal in the southern United States. They're classified as an invasive species and therefore in many places can be hunted year round with no bag limits

​@@HunterMagpie European wild boars are rare in the States, though there are a few places where they were unfortunately introduced. Feral pigs have become so common and damaging as to be considered vermin. It is interesting though, how wild a feral pig can look once it's out of the barnyard.

William Mitchell Florida is riddled with wild boars , Somebody introduce Russian boars to Florida years back and they have bred and crossbred all over the state. They can be hunted with no bag limit all year long .
