Hunting down 91s, The Beasts of the East Coast
Today I went and explored 91s at various places like Kings Cross and Hadley Wood, while chasing them around, before they all eventually meet their demise in the scrap yard
For those who don’t know 91s are nicknamed “the Intercity 225s”
🚨SPOILERS 🚨
The 91s I saw (and rode) were:
91130
91124
91110 (I rode)
And various other ones at Hadley Wood
The 91s (after 35 years of loyal service) replacement should be soon, as LNER (the owners of the 91s) have announced their initial replacement by 10 CAF Intercity Trains in the near future, now although I am excited for new rolling stock for the East Coast Main Line, I will miss the thrashing roar of their motors, and their strikingly loud horns, all trains have to go someday. It may be hard to think but it has to happen 🥲

Will miss these… however we still have a while. Nice video mate.
Nicely put together - 225 sets are amazing - the first class on them is epic - I’ve done that on the London - Leeds which I highly recommend

Nice one! Glad you enjoyed it
91s are already history in Scotland as we haven't had one this far north in years!

Yeah, I heard about them ceasing Scotland services, a while back, but things can’t stay forever 🥲
I always find the ride incredibly smooth & quiet on them, although I suppose their engines (sounds like fans?) are noisy. They can be quiet & friendly Beasts of the ECML! Looking forward to the video’s release!
I can tell a lot of work has gone into this video, well done!
