Hunting classics at the Oulton Park Supercar Pageant July 2022 | Jaguar, TVR, Ferrari & other cars

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

The first ever Oulton Park Supercar Pageant, held in July 2022, was the car event that I'd been persuaded to attend here. I had visions of it being packed with all manner of modern Ferraris, Porsches and Lamborghinis, and there were definitely plenty of them in evidence, both displayed around the site and also competing out on the circuit (the smokey diesel Ford Focus racers I couldn't see any merit in though).
Fortunately amongst the moderns there were quite a few older cars, so this Old Classic Car video concentrates on them for the most part, with just a few clips of more modern machinery to give a broader insight to this supercars event as a whole.
Highlights for me included a Ferrari Dino, Lamborghini Espada and Urraco, Alfa Romeo SZ, Jaguar XK120 FHC, a very well turned-out SS100 replica, lots of air-cooled Porsche 911 variants (some racing, others on display in the car clubs area), TR6, an interesting mix of TVRs, a trio of De Tomasos, Pontiac GTO and others. Other old metal of interest included a fine Citroen H van and a Commer, both used as catering vehicles (cash not accepted, which wasn't really on). We were also very fortunate that the BBMF Avro Lancaster flew over quite low, en route to the Southport airshow I believe.
Throughout the day a number of qualifying sessions (followed by races) took place and they were (mostly) fun to watch, I've included just a few clips of them for variety.
For a first go this event certainly has potential, it's not the flavour of car show I normally go to, but it was neat to see a few older cars flying the flag for the classic car world amongst all the exotic high-end cars that were in attendance. Our steed for the day was the humble Standard 8, hidden away in the main public car park.
Thanks so much for watching as always, and please take a look around at the many other vids about classic cars elsewhere on this channel.

My name is Joe Micallef i watched your programme old classics partt 5 or6 : One photo was an Austin 1100reg no 36199, in Malta, that is where i came from, car reg nos were like that till the late 1970 ^s: They reflected the number of cars on the road when car was registered for the first time: However i cannot be sure about that Austin in photo I am 70 years old and you certainly take me back to my childhood days: Thanks and keep up your good work:

Dino gets my prize as the best-looking car of all time. I've loved them since I had a model of one as a small boy in the late 60s.

Some great Classic Car 'spots' there, thank you. Just like yourself, I think most 'moderns' are far too big! The older models, air cooled 911s for instance, are just perfect.

Pantera were sold through Lincoln-Mercury dealers n the US., when I was a kid. My brother in law was a salesman and got to bring one home sometimes. It was a mind blower, riding in that at 10 years old.

Can I suggest looking into a polarising filter? It would cut back on the reflections on both the paint and windows.

Scuderia Coventry! 😁 Best looking cars are the early ones (Ferraris, Lambos, Porsches) without all the bulges or tails.

I was here at this very show and saw your Standard 8 in the car park. Sadly I didn't take any pictures of it. I did witness the crash at 16:53, I was on the top row of the Grandstand at Old Hall Corner and got a face full of grass and dust. Didn't see the Dino but I did see a Ferrari 288 GTO as well as some rare cars too. Had a really good day.

Yes a good day out, we were sat in that grandstand too as you will have seen, the Merc had a lot of support as it worked its way through the field after the coming-together

@@oldclassiccarUK yeah, we saw the Merc did quite well, at one point challenging for the lead we think. I saw both planes fly over too, especially the Lancaster Bomber which I got a couple of photographs of. We, me and my neighbour who's into racing, went in a Peugeot RCZ, which was quite rare as there were only two there, us and the other was parked at the race car check point. It was a good day out. Planning my next car show, I might be attending the VW Show, although all VAG cars are welcome, at Tatton Park. Fingers crossed!!!

3:36 For those of you who have an impeccable job I can tell you: Everyone knows it as "FERRARI" Dino, but it's actually a Dino 246 GT, a car made under the Dino brand by Ferrari between 1957 e 1976 "it was an attempt by the company to offer a relatively low-cost sports car. The Ferrari name remained reserved for its premium V12 and flat-12 models until 1976". Source: Wikipedia

For me the Dino epitomises the best in Ferrari very beautiful car. I said I was going out last Saturday in a friend Porsche 964 actually a 911. It is a 1993 964S Carrera 4 wheel drive, convertible , air cooled and one fabulous and fairly complicated, gut churning machine. He told me there are only 13 of them in the UK. Fully rebuilt and on its original plate which he managed to obtain. One hell of an experience. The TVR Chimaera is a lovely machines. In terms of car design and raw beauty though the E Type still leads the field.

Some of the Porsches at Oulton were very tasty indeed, once they went to water cooling and grew fatter (996-on?) I lose interest

Mmmmm I like some of the older exotica, but even if I had a bucketload of £ I don't think I'd every buy one, the Espada is very cool but personally I can't take to the styling at all. I like the engine though :)

Strange lug nuts on the wheels on the GTO .Looked like Nylocs but the taper usually goes against the wheel I hope you may know thanks.Wheel studs were a problem in the US .Change more often than underwear.

I guess Porsche could stay with the early design for only so long but the newer ones look somewhat bloated by comparison. Great look around, I do like the Espada but black on black, so hot with all that glass. 👍

Although I like the fact that the Espada has a V12, the Urraco was the one I'd want to own from the Lambos I saw there simply because it's more compact. Had there been a Miura in attendance though .... :)

@@oldclassiccarUK The smaller Lambos were very pretty and powerful, the stature? of the Espada is amazing. A4garage did a Muira model recently, never had the eyelashes though. 👀 No wonder prices are through the roof. Unfortunately new Lambos are a completely different kettle of fish.
