Yeah that was my first reaction "why did he spam the fish down so hard?!"...but it wasn't moving in his net either...so I thought something was fishy about this catch ( no pun intended)....my 2nd response was " oh it's carp" which may be why he slammed it down... disappointed 😜

@biscuit not necessarily. Fish takes good without secret recipe. The only negative thing about it is it has lots of bones, but you can fry it up, grill it, make fish soup with potatoes. The options are limitless

German carp are actually farm raised and are very delicious esp. when oven baked, then deep fried. Even the tail and fins are crispy Goes well with pomme frites & Getman garden salad 😛🍽🍺🐟

Here in the UK we treat the carp with great care, placing them on unhooking mats and applying ointment on wounds before carefully placing them back into the water. It’s unsettling to see this video and find out they are considered crap fish in other parts of the world 😂

@Qauckus_Shankus yes I agree like a canal that’s miles and miles long between locks you have to pre bait for a long time to stop passing fish in their tracks. If you chum the water up you run the risk of attracting bird life to the spots and they will ruin your fishing

Judging by his shadow in the beginning of this video to the point of catching the fish, Id say it took him at least 3 to 4 hours which is a very long time to be waiting in a single spot. Id give it a few minutes before trying something different.

@Praise God You don't think he'll leave it??? I don't think he'll retrieve it. That freshwater chum wouldn't last long at all. One thing about carps is that they might be dirty eaters but the lake bed were carps exists are much cleaner than the lake beds without carp. They're nature's freshwater vacuum cleaners is what they are. My point is that I highly doubt that the freshwater chum would last for several hours, in fact I think it'll last less than 1 hour depending on certain factors like fish fry or guppies, crawdads and water current as well as temperature. Warmer water tends to dissolve things faster as you already know. I'm sure it was a great catch. I've caught several of these myself, but I'm more of a catch and release type of guy (most of the time). Fishing is my passion. It's my escape from everyday life, it's peaceful and relaxing, surprisingly exciting like a gift from mother nature when you catch that monster. Nothing like breaking your own record. You know that fish that makes you wonder if anybody else has caught one that size? It happens to me every year but there's always one bigger. Always. I'll give you an example, 2 years ago I caught a krappie that weighed 3lbs 9oz. The record was over 4lbs but until this day, it's still the biggest I've seen with my own 2 eyes and I'm never alone when I fish. I think I'm going to start uploading my fishing trips. It's a pretty hot topic as you already know. 👍good fishing

Have some respect for the fish! Don't just bully it into the bank, let it tire a bit, keep some tension on it and reel in as you can. Use a fish mat on the bank. How would you like it if someone tied a rope around you, dragged you across a pond the threw you 10 feet! In the UK we have fish etiquette. Well, most anglers anyway!

If anyone could open any fast food restaurant in that area, they'd be rich. Just don't offer the Filet-o-Carp combo with a McSewerFlurry to drink.

Some people are thankful that they just have food to eat, no matter where it comes from. Just because the water looks that way doesn’t Necessarily mean it’s dirty. A lot of still water has deposits that make them like icky

I've heard they aren't that bad if you remove the mud vein. Had an old timer tell me once how to cook one. He said you encase it with clay and throw it in the fire until the clay hardens. Then you eat the clay. He was being sarcastic of course but saying the clay is better than the carp.
