just so you know, the person you saw in Chrollo's book was the Owl, the shadow beast that could make things small and hold it in the cloth/pouch. (like when he trapped nobunaga in the car chase scene). he was the one who had the treasure and they had taken him back to the troupe's base where feitan tortured him. chrollo probably took his ability after that, and now used that cloth in this fight

It would've been hard-pressed for Chrollo to do anything if his attention was divided between Silva, Zeno AND Kurapika who only needs a moment of distraction to use chain jail. Spoilers Even after the Ten Dons end up dying and the contract cancelled on Chrollo. Unless Kurapika specifically got disabled in the fight Chrollo would have no way of escaping Chain Jail, which in the next few episodes we see Chrollo unable to do pretty much anything til he got freed. Just because Chrollo is as strong as Zeno and Silva doesn't mean that Kurapika CAN'T win. Sure maybe the phantom troupe would've ended up killing Kurapika if he captured Chrollo this early on without the blackmailing they ended up doing in future episodes(it was even a point that if Kurapika just outright kills Chrollo then the Phantom Troupe would've killed Gon, Killua, Kurapika, and everyone within the vicinity). But saying Chrollo is just unstoppable just isn't true.

Unfortunately, Kurapika would've died there. With no knowledge of Chrollo's abilities, it wouldn't have gone well.

The conditions for Chrollo's ability are only revealed in the manga, but we can see him fulfilling some of them at one particular scene... Like Zeno deduced his ability has 4 conditions - he has to witness the ability with his eyes - ask a question about it and be answered - The target has to touch Chrollo's Book cover - All of those has to be completed under an hour

I'm not 100% sure, but I also remember that it requires the target to be alive. That's why Chrollo commanded the troupe not to attack the ambulance (Neon) and kept the owl alive

HxH fights are amazing, they are perfectly paced and have things to analyze, as well as the characters thoughts, in a complex and interesting way. The are very different from your basic shounen, watchable by anyone.

It got bogged down by too many rules around Chakra amount, Chakra type, genetic abilities, sage modes etc. that it stopped mattering after the first few fights. Not to mention, the author got lazy and decided the inconsistencies to write his way out of tricky situations, making the series as a whole, mediocre

I really like how much analysis of the story you guys make. It's not just watching then saying "wow that's cool" like most people who do these types of reaction videos.

In most animes when they introduce a new villain they usually undermine already introduced charachters to show how strong the new villain is. So i respect hxh for keeping its powerscaling consistent. Zeno and Silva have been introduced as top tier fighters. And they kept and showed it perfectly. They didn't underwhelm him. They didn't know what he was capable of but knew his status. Both parties truly didn't know if they would win. Cause as you see. When top tier fighters clash its a game of oursmarting your opponent and analysing them. Not overpowering. That's how nen battles work

Nen has by far the best powerscaling in any anime/manga/comicbook based show I've seen. Even when a ''weaker fighter'' gets a ''powerboost'' it always feels earned. SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS: Like Adult Gon has been built up so well throughout the entire series. Hisoka taking interest, his potential being called out by multiple people, Wing referencing a beast being awakened, Zepile's appraisal of Gon concluding that Gon is dangerous, Razor/Bisky also called it out. Then we also have loads of explanation how someones state of mind effects Nen and how important resolve and conditions are. For example in this episode we see Chrollo needing to go through several conditions to be able to steal/use stolen abilities. Kurapika's abilities as well. Its very well explained how not everyone could do what Gon did. Due to firstly, not everyone having Gon's potential. Secondly, he had an extreme drawback for risking his life and losing his Nen. He didn't just go Super Saiyan with unlimited possibilities of power. Nor did he just get a Kurama boost. He also didn't just go Bankai. He aged himself to a point in time where he'd reach that potential, used that power for ''selfish reasons'' vs someone he hated and risked his life/threw away that potential by losing his Nen. Its one of the best ''power boosts'' I've seen in any anime and it didn't break the powerscaling at all. After the CA arc he has no Nen anymore and Togashi resets his character. He deconstructed Gon during the CA arc and then puts him in a position again where he can reconstruct him. He's reset, but a bit different due to the experience he just had.

i think in hxh the most important factor to win in a fight is to outsmart your opponent ! and this is the best thing i love about this show ,it focuses so much on analyzing !

Togashi is well known for writing great villians. In Yu Yu Hakusho he wrote two of the best villians in shonen anime, and in Hunter X Hunter Chrollo is awesome and Hisoka is a wild card, and there are some great villians you haven't seen yet that imo are as good or even better than the villians you've seen by now.

I've seen almost every single movie and tv show since around 1985 to around 2015, i've read hundreds of fantasy books, read thousands of comics, read tens of thousands of manga, and out of them all Togashi is the only author in existence that is actually pulling off a so-called 'battle-royale'. Hundreds of authors/directors have tried something like this and they've all failed miserably because what Togashi is doing is insanely difficult to pull off. For perspective its like if George RR Martin put every major character in game of thrones on a massive ship, and then had them all fight to the death to figure out who would be king while also incorporating the underworld, the legitimate rulers of GRR Martins world (aka the top hunters), an expedition of an unknown land, and all within the realms of the best battle system in existence aka nen (Togashi made it to be as similar to real life as possible...). He's above genius level. One of these days Ill make videos explaining how HxH is actually legitimately real life. Togashi was interviewed about how he came up with nen back in 2004-06 i forget the exact date, you gotta use the wayback machine to fine the interview on an obscure japaneses blog, but Togashi is asked how he came dup with the 'nen battle system' and Togashi responds, 'i just made my battle system as close to actual reality as possible' or something along those lines. Reread HxH as if its real life and its how the top 1000 or so humans on the entire planet operate. HxH is the universal conspiracy theory in plain sight, not 'hidden in plain sight', its just 'in plain sight', reread it as if its how the rulers of earth operate. Dark continent is space. Togashi is a GENIUS.

ABOUT Kurapika's backstory!!!! It does not show up in the manga, but there is a one off sidestory the author wrote that goes over the events before the phantom troupe killed. You should read it, it isn't connected to the rest of the story so there are no spoilers The story DOES give a backstory for the phantom troupe... in the manga that comes after the anime. It's good, so I recomend it if you wanna read it, but there may also eventually be another anime adaptation for the rest of the series once the arc is completed (in 10+ years, the author is having a lot of health problems so chapters come out slow)

The author of hxh has huge back problems, which is why he made an hige hiatus, he continued like half a year ago, but dtopped again 3 months or something ago, but in this period of time he realesed chapters with the backstory of the phantom troupe. Hxh has like 80 chapters after the anime stopped, but no worries the anime stopped where you could basically call it end, its like a new story being born after that.

It works well as an anime "ending" because I guess spoilers incase they read it themselves gon had the simple goal of finding his dad and by the end he does. It's a satisfying enough end that, although we'll always crave for more, Im content with it being an "anime ending" (and then having the manga as a continuation)

I don't care if it got a green light by Togashi. if he himself doesn't write and draw it, it's doesn't make it for me. like hell I would acknowledge a story of hxh that was not written by Togashi after all he said about not wanting anyone to do his work in the slightest. even just a backstory. if he doesn't include it in the manga, assumed it as just a good fan art that got the author's attention. nothing more. if he can write chrollo's backstory, he can do it for hisoka. not by some other artist

Why prople spoil things? Yes they asked the question but y'all could make a response that doesn't give away information about what they are going to see.

Just a little "grammatical" detail, "steal" and "use" in Chrollo's nen are two separated cases. He can steal everyone's ability, but that does not mean that he can use the nen. At the end of this anime, you two will be able to see the ability that for me is the best example to this detail. And I have a feeling that probably you can think " so if he can't use, he will not steal", but steal abilitys have two benefits be able to use they and leaving your enemy powerless ( they will need to fight Chrollo just using physical power plus aura, nothing else( hatsu/ability) ). Nice reaction and I can't wait until the next one❤❤

Chrollo is the best villain in the anime for sure, but Chimera Ant has some of the darkest moments in anime, and stuff that will completely catch you off guard. Not to mention that the sense of danger is insane. Here, you can tell Phantom Troupe is dangerous, but they aren't so dangerous to the point where you feel like all hope is lost. That cannot be said with the Chimera Ant arc...

Not all specialists are created equal, though. Kurapika's specialist mode lets him use all categories to 100%. Chrollo's not necessarily does that, right? I mean, there are other specialists that sure don't look like this is what happens

Never even thought about that. Stealing someone like Kurapika's chains for example would be pointless, wouldn't it? The strength of his ability is directly tied to the restrictions he's placed on himself, his unique mission to vanquish the Phantom Troupe, as well as the fact that he's a Kurta. I also doubt that Chrollo can steal other specialist powers. There's no way it would make sense for him to be able to steal emperor time, for example. Maybe he could steal Kurapika's basic chains, but then, wouldn't they just be slightly stronger than average weapons? I'd like to think that Chrollo's strength comes from his ability to utilize the element of surprise to defeat his opponents, filling his bandit book with weaker versions of the abilities he steals.

It might not be the type of content you guys make but you could read the back story of the phantom Troup. Its quite worth it.

Chrollo can definitely steal Kurapika's chains. But you are right they wouldn't be as strong. But we can't be sure. Chrollo already has a lot of conditions for stealing and using the abilities in the book, and the base nen power of chrollo is definitely far stronger than Kurapika.

Since you want to know. The most recent chapters of the manga covers the founding of the Phantom troops.

Regarding whether the manga covers the Phantom Troupe backstory or not. The recent release of chapters (chapters 390-400) actually does uncloud the mystery behind the Troupe. So while in this arc, the manga is a bit more detailed surrounding their characteristics and abilities. Their backstory isn't shown until around chapter 396.

Around this episode is where I started to wonder how people who don't know how to use nen have any authority in this world, if a handful of skilled enough nen fighters can tear through hundreds or even thousands of armed mafia thugs like tissue paper.

The current arc in the manga shows that a lot of people in power know about men and some can even use it. Ultimately I don't think being a strong person is enough to take over the world or a country. Physical power is not enough to dismantle a whole system. At most you could have rebels that execute a coup but then after that the country would be a mess. Even in this arc you can see that you have those Mafia bosses who have money And use it to hire people with nen so if someone wanted to take over his business they would have to go through those men and even if they managed to kill him or something they might not want to become business men when they can just make money getting hired by other business men.

Since you asked: Yes, the manga does give the backstory of the Phantom Troupe. That happened in the most recent chapters. It’s very unlikely that the HxH anime will ever adopt the rest of the manga, so I recommend reading it after you finish the anime. And do reactions.

The rest of the manga will be adapted into anime when there's at least enough material for a season and a half, possibly two, although the way they split seasons these days, they could easily do 12 episodes, then the usual second cour of 12 after a year or two and wait for the chapters to be enough for another 12 episodes at least. It always happens and there's high demand in Japan. But Japanese channels and sponsors won't invest unless there's X amount of episodes guaranteed. It will happen without a doubt, it's just not sure when and how soon.

I would like to point out that kurapikas specialist mode is not a nen ability its his genetic ability that amplifies his nen so it couldnt be stolen but his other abilities could if the same conditions are followed by chrollo. Also specialists dont control all nen types thats just kurapikas specialist ability, they do rare things that could not be categorized under existing nen types and just because someone is a specialist it doesnt make them powerful they could have an ability that is just rare but simple

Hunter is about flipping tropes, where as most of what took from it.... were just more tropes. Kinda feels like a lot of manga that took inspiration from Hunter, may have missed the point

I'd say it also depends on how they draw the comparison. In terms of chronological release history you are right. However in terms of Lola and Milena watch order, it's the other way around as they both saw AOT first. I believe both things can be true at the same time here

I think the other way around. Chrollo isn't going to get caught as easily as Uvo, and Kurapika has ZERO knowledge of Chrollo's abilities, whereas he knew what to expect with Uvo.

@@thelegacyofgaming2928 neither of them have enough knowledge of each others abilities. Kurapika on the other hand, his nen abilities are specifically used to eliminate spiders. He has control over fall nen types when fighting spiders. Chrollo would not stand a chance.

The reason why Chrollo can use those stealed abilities was because he is a specialist. Meaning he can master other nen category 100%. Also, if you guys notice. Zeno and Silva is a Transmuter which is a pure Zoldyck blood which is also Killua with the same Nen Category. Brothers of killua I believed are Manipulator which means not a pure Zoldyck Blood. Thats why they see Killua to become the head of the family aside from he is the most skilled in the history of the Zoldyck family.

Not all specialists can master every nen category .. thats just kurapikas specialist ability. Specialists are simply people that dont fit in with any nen category
