@@hanswurst9397 yah you are correct sir. It had been 14 years since playing so when the patch came out I was playing with them. I wish it wasn't "cast launcher" then "cast trap to be launched". Wish it was just one key. But I remember everything now. No Cobra Shot = no fun until 81. We tried to do heroic ICC and we failed miserably. It was hilarious how low hunter DPS was. Normally I am hitting close to 20k dps on fights like Saurfang, Rot, Fester, blood queen but this week I was hitting about 7k dps lol.

Solely playing Cata for Survival hunter. Shame blizzard completely gutted this spec for melee as IMO it was the best hunter spec.

What I like about Cata Hunters was easy rotation BM:Serpent Sting-Spam Cobra Shot-Arcane Shot/Kill Command and use Focus Fire when available(While Bestial Wrath,Rapid Fire and Focus Fire are active,just spam Arcane Shot and Kill Command) Marksmanship:2 Aimed Shots-2 Steady Shots-Aimed Shot-2 Steady Shots and hope that Ready,Steady,Fire triggers while you're casting Aimed Shot so you get 2 Aimed Shots for the price of one or alternatively you can Viper Sting-Steady Shot-Arcane Shot/Chimera Shot-Aimed Shot when RSF triggers Survival:Viper Sting-Black Arrow-Burst Shot-Cobra Shot-Arcane Shot/Burst Shot and make sure to re-apply Black Arrow once it's off cooldown(If I remember correctly it duration was 21 seconds but cooldown 24 seconds) And I have to suck DS 2 piece set's wiener but it makes your life so much easier

Hunter turtle pet was OP. Could tank a raid boss for 5ish seconds with 0 heals. Growl also becomes an actual taunt.

Played hunter for majority of cataclysm. The focus system was HUGE. All three specs were very fun. Beast Mastery wasn't incredible dps but it was honestly my favorite of the three and it allowed for a lust in a pinch with 10 man.

@@brandonkruse6412 Hunter in general basically peaked in MoP, but I agree that BM got the best deal. -100% mobility while doing your rotation as BM -deadzone is removed -any pet can be any spec (ferocity/tenacity/cunning) -easily accessible porcupine spirit beasts (no need to camp them) -even more buffs for BM spec as you can get water striders for water walking or Quilen beast for a battle ress for your party/raid -the Blink strikes talent which basically allows your pet to teleport to their target for more uptime -last, but not least they did have some nice sets like the Yanguol slayer, Battlegear of the unblinking vigil and their challenge mode set Really, the only thing that hunters lacked might be the lone wolf talent for marksman and survival.

Cant wait for a deep dive into MM awsome content mate happy days 😊

I remember hating focus when it first came in 4.0, it felt clunky, and if I remember right it was not a good system at first, but it went through many changes and became much better and more fluid

Focus was a huge improvement over mana as it gave you a reason to stack haste for focus regen.

Yeah the 4.3 patch it will run on has that issue addressed and it feels great. Reforging with an addon also means you can get the EXACT amount of haste so your rotation lines up perfectly. Feels silky smooth on p servers.

Focus wasn't tuned properly when it first came in as far as I remember. You just didn't have enough and many times your abilities that have CDs would be ready to go but you'd be focus starved. It was an issue addressed by Blizzard back then

Well playing it on P servers on the 4.3 patch felt great; they obviously fixed that by the end of the expansion so that shouldn't be an issue. =)

best patch was the first cataclysm patch..still had mana+arcane shot had no cooldown. You could pepper someone back to back with 10+arcane shots. You were on top of the world

Genuine question, not trying to be rude or facetious - have you noticed a downturn in engagement on your videos versus the same time period in TBC when you were doing Wrath prep videos? If so, do you think that's more due to the lack of enthusiasm for current-phase content in WotLK (ToC burnout) or a sign of players not being as excited for Cata?

I think its still very early to be talking about cata. We have at least two more months of Togc and then like 6 months of ICC maybe more. When LK dies people will start searching for cata content more

Agreed. Normally, I don't care about fresh realms, but for Cata, I think it's important to have an entire realm level up together through the revamped zones.

Gonna 100% main survival hunter that Serpent Sting Multishot AOE is so satisfying to press and see when you get a HUGE dot on every mobs and your DPS goes to the moon.

I really hope I enjoy the changes to Hunter - because currently I'm 99% in love with it. That 1% are things that just have to be delt with - minimum range on bosses with huge hit boxes, not being able to trap certain bosses, bugs with Hunter's Mark (makes some bosses have a bigger hit box, aka Anub'arak) and occasionally having to use Aspect of the Wild due to the raid composition. But other then minor issues? I love Hunter. I'm constantly pushed to improve my gameplay and there's a lot of risk-reward involved without juggling too many plates. I know Cata will improve a few things, I'm just worried I won't like the spec changes and energy replacing mana. Time will tell!

You won't have to worry about the dead zone anymore or being in melee range; hunters only use a ranged weapon in the next xpac. Trapping bosses isn't an issue (and only SV uses them in combat); if it's single target you are using Black arrow... if two or more then you use your trap and it's generally easy to get one of the adds to trigger it. TLDR: I never had that issue and never had to think about it... SV just "works" without issue in Cata. I also don't remember any bugs from Hunter's Mark in Cata. I don't know what they did to fix these things but damnit did they nail it. The focus change is probably the best single change to hunters IMO; it feels so much better than mana and it's a resource you have to manage. Reforging with an addon also means you can always be dead on with the amount of haste you need so your rotation lines up perfectly... it feels silky smooth. I can't recommend hunters enough this xpac, especially if you are looking to do SV which is the top spec. They do insane damage out of the gate and are #5 at the end of the expansion. In PvP they are a fucking menace; your ability to kite is absolutely insane (movement is better than ever) and I know on a Ret I can't touch a good one (and Ret was just this nasty OP bg stomping spec in Cata; the most disgusting things I've ever done in a bg was Cata Ret). TLDR: I can't see a single reason why you WOULDN'T enjoy it and it is a great choice.

Shamans are fun Fire nova not coming from totems but your fire dot. Spirit=hit. Healers using lightning bolt to restore mana. Healing rain No more cloth/leather gear Even if they aren't the best, they are extremely fun to play. Cata class design is awesome for pretty much everything.

They gave hunters trap launcher in classic wrath

Cant wait for my favorite class Mage! most fun in cata! Anyway, my experience with hunters: Never played them! But from what ive seen its like this - beast mastery was MEH in pve cause of bad scripting pets on private servers so cant say how it will be on classic. The way to go was Marksmanship and Survival. Hunter is necesary in every raid group cause a lot of mechanic depends on hunters (Kiting around trap and so on) In Aoe situations they pop really nice numbers and are ok in single target. In PvP They are extremly annyoing to play againts as a melee class cause of their traps / slows / jumps ... I dont like Huntards... But if you are hunter enjoyer, you will like cataclysm version of Hunter.

I like the classic and Wrath Hunter. The CAT hunter is better if you're lazy and just want to hit buttons. Don't get me wrong, I like CAT hunter as well but If I had to make a choice I would take Wrath Hunter

Not yet. ICC release isn't even confirmed yet. I suspect it'll be at least six months from now, though it might be sooner if we're lucky.

Not confirmed, but they had sent out surveys asking players what changes they would like to Cata... so likely happening.

How about the pet AI? Is it still dogshit in cataclysm and gets killed on every raid boss and get stuck every dungeon?

As much as I enjoy Cata Hunter, it pales in comparison to MoP. Mists BM/Surv was peak hunter. Bestial Cleave for BM, Stampede, the Barrage talent, automated trap launcher, Battle Rez via Quillen, Murder of Crows and removal of melee weapons was great.

@@thejackass8 im currently playing whitemane private cata server and i wanted to play fury warrior but 99% players say this the worst spec in cataclysm and you will be holding your group down in pve if you play fury and fury doesnt work in cata, blah blah blah :D so i play arms but i really wanna hear a content creators perspective on fury warrior in cata

Being lvl 19 in BGs with a full heirloom/ twinked out survival hunter in Cata was the most fun I had in BGs. Explosive shot absolutely deleted people

I remember the cata Dragonsoul hunter tier was nuts. And doing timewalking in later Xpacs broke the shit out of it.

It reduces PHYSICAL damage… Which means the most degenerate druid dps should switch out of cat form and cast moonfire once every 30 seconds.

So back to survival after ICC

Honestly you can stay Survival in ICC anyway. MM is close to beating it, but the difference is marginal. Bring whichever you prefer - personally I'm not a fan of MM and perform poorly with it even when its 'better'.

Removing ammo was a horrible change for hunters IMO. A gun or bow REQUIRES ammo ..removing it just started on the road to turning the hunter into mail waering warlock ...that and other changes are why I quit in Panda and did not come back until classic

To me the ammo wasn't as much something that you had to manage (like you might manage bullets in a survival game) but rather was just something that you either remembered or forgot to buy before the raid. If it had gameplay implications that required you to make tough choices I would agree, but the version of it in WoW felt like a pain and I was glad to see it go. Over the years I've replayed through MoP on p servers and my opinion hasn't changed.

Author is noob and he does not have any idea about hunters in cata. surv hunter in cata is very very boring class because you can easy build 1 button macro and do top dps, cataclysm is pure for casual players, thats why cata fully fked the wow. i remember i played surv and my friend played dk and we both were doing 45k dps without any clue about our classes, both just pressing 1 or maximum 2 buttons in LFR gear.
