Grief makes people so weird things. For me it made me reach out to old friends and want to form community. For family members of mine it made them lash out at others, create scenarios in their minds about the deaths that weren’t true, and then spread those untruths. I try to forgive these family members for behaving badly in such a difficult time, but I also want to change how we behave in these times of grief and not turn to these strange behaviors. We need to find healthier ways of getting our emotions out instead of turning to drugs, alcohol, and sexual behavior that’s destructive to our families.

They had no choice. It was part of the culture and they couldn’t say no. They knew of the consequences if they didn’t like they would have to go back to their parents’ and that’s a shame, they lose rights and ownership of their children, their chances of marrying again would be very low, and a lot more other reasons that would be too much for me to write here.
