Lángos is not really a drunk/hungover food, actually more like a summer/beach food. Kids love it.

Oh man, I am Polish and Hungarian but live in the southern USA. I too love Kurtos Kalács as well as goulash but here in Florida, you cannot find either. The only way I can have them is to make them myself now that I live here. I did find a place to buy perogies though. Actually, I always thought what Hungary calls the Kurtos Kalács was originally Romanian. Not sure on that one, but I was told it was originally from the mountains in Transylvania.. Actually, Transylvania has to be THE most beautiful place in the world.

I know the issues ... and I was raised in a nationalistic way, and I still have problems with the hungarians witch are requesting territory and hate us , and yes we have alot of issues with the hungarian minorities in Romania. But you need to think clear, be rational, not judge a nation by few isolated examples. And 2nd, im tierd of fighting and hate, world its big enough for all to live happy. I have lots of hungarian friends, and most of them are nice people, always a plesure to share a glass of palinka with them. Cheers!

Greetings from Budapest Florin! :-) Yeah, I agree, it's rare to see people from Romania whom not hating us. Also, I don't really understand that some of us why hates ALL Romanian. We are neighbours. I loved to be in Transylvania and there were no any hate. We went to some Romanian places like bars or just order some food, and we got a lot of hate at these places.

Gulya = herd of cows Gulyás = The person, who take care of the gulya Gulyás Soup = Soup made by Gulyás, and as he take care of cows, it is always made of beef! You definetly ate some good gulyás soup, it should look like this. Thanks for the video, hope you enjoyed your stay!

not only you, when I saw this video I really craved for that Langos so I went outside to buy one, haven't eaten a Langos in years :D hehe

im from germany and my father lives there to work for mercedes. so i visited him in 2010 so i was 10, and the only thing i really remember was budapest and langos. This city is just so beautyfull and langos is the best "streetfood" iv ever eatn. and my dad cooked a hujngarian "gulasch" ( dont know hot its get written) but he cooked it for 2 days, and its so goooooood. i just love this cuntry

Love langos!! My friends mum who's polish made it for me the same way you ate it....and omg it was amazing. Loved it so much I looked up how to make them, ended up having them with nutella too and wow amazing!!

Excellent job with the filming and the editing of this. We're headed to Budapest on Sunday for a month and we're looking forward to trying some of these!

Heck yeah, we loved Budapest!

Well, this video brought back memories of old from the seventies. Lángos was popular at that time too, but we had only plain one at the time, not these fancy types. Prices were different too. Two forint each, just enough for us virtually penniless high school students.

well, Langos is a universal food. We eat this after party or just casually in the morning on the Sunday market or as just said below on the poolside/beach in summertime. I love it every occasion. But one more thing you should try next time is to go to the butcher where you can eat freshly fried hurka & kolbasz. that is also pretty Hungarian :)

Hi, actually Goulash is made from water, pepper "powder" and vegetables. But there is an other kind of it, when you take to it some been. And this food is the best, made at open fire whit your friends or family :) And oh, I just forgot it: Nice video! Have a great time around Hungary!

the chimney cake thing is called kürtőskalács and its traditional from Szekely land in Romania. We have them here all over the place.

You just confirmed what I thought.The kurtos kalács I knew as a kid ARE originally Romanian... That was what I was always told. I was told it was from the mountain area that we used to call Transylvania.. Beautiful part of the world.. Isn't Cluj - Napoka considered the traditional capitol of the area? Also, I'm told a lot of Hungarians actually live in that city in Romania. Personally, I think Romania and Hungary are the most beautiful countries in the world.

My church took the recipe from a fellow Romanian for chimney cakes and they now sell them at festivals in the US.

In Prague they call the chimney cakes "trdlniks" or something like that, so I usually call them turtlenecks ;) they're so delish.

You really tried good foods :D I love chimney cake but unfortunately I can only eat it at christmas because in my town the guys who make it, only came at that time of the year. But I'm happy that there's a restaurant/cafe in Budapest where I can get it so I think I'll visit it next I go to the town :)

You have made a great choice and i agree that goulash - gulyás and lángos are definitely in my top3 hungarian foods. I would say the spicy fish soup is the 3rd to try. And there are many great desserts as well. Lángos is a street food and goulash soup is a slow food, the longer it takes to make it the better it gets!

I always get lángos at German Christmas markets. I had no idea it was Hungarian food. The more you know!

You called Goulash a stew, but is a soup. did you notice it was on the menu in the soup section. Paprikash is the stew. The red sauce: lots of paprika. It is great with gnocci, pickles and chillies and sour cream too. Hope you had the roasted duck stuffed with duck liver and breadcrumbs. And what about the Goose foie gras? What you didn't have Dobos? Hungarian and Austrian cakes and pastrys were taken to France and now everyone thinks they are French.

Watching all your vids as my wife and I are doing the same trip in 5 weeks. Great vids with great information and comparisons to things we may already know. You guys look like a great couple to have afew wines and a day out with 😜. All the best

In 2001 I ate camp cooked túrós tészta. It was in a huge kondér upon fire.

I am a Hungarian people. I hope you're enjoy a bit of our country's taste. I laugh a lot when you said "It's very unhealthy!" to the lángos. It's is true, but a good warm lángos with a lot of cheese is the best food when you go out in the marketplace in the morning. Keep up your good work guys! I couldn't find the price for the chimney cake, but according to the video, the langos what they had was 580 forints wich is roughly 2 Euros, and the gulyas they had was 1750 forints wich is about 6 Euros.

you can find chimney cake stores all over Budapest. It mostly costs 1 euro, but you can find fancy places, with the price of 4 to 6 euros.

I remember when I was around 8 an ice cream was 20 forints and it's 150 today, so it's definietly just the inflation. My mom told me she made 1000 forints a month in the 80's and now she makes 120.000.
