All music lovers I owe this to all of you. This ghazal was written by the renowned poet Akbar Allahabadi after 1857 mutiny of Indians against British rule. Backdrop of this ghazal is mutiny and it is a patriotic ghazal. Here word wine has been used as Simile for patriotism. So what and why so much hue and cry if I have drunk patriotism.......is the meaning of this ghazal. US MAY SE NAHI MATLAB DIL JIS SE HO BEGANA means I don't want that wine which makes a man inebriated. MAQSOOD HAI US MAY SE DIL HI ME JO KHINCHATI HAI means I want that wine which aches my heart ( here patriotism). Mesmerising. Salute to poet Akbar Allahabadi and legend Sir Ghulam Ali for creating this masterpiece.
