Damn. This just seems like a lose-lose for everyone.

Everyone except the property owner. I'm betting once he evicted everyone, he'll apply to change the zoning to something that's worth a lot more.

BC to crazy with taxes...
Why do we even have a useless government. You can't throw these people out, where will they go. Some corporation must be behind all this, they probably want to build condos.

Pretty sure they make more money having short time renters then longterm.

Government are evil
So essentially the RV park owner has offers from others willing to pay more than the current residents so they are evicting the current residents to make room for people willing to pay more?

no, hes going to sell the whole property to a developer who will build condos likely.
This is what happens when housing prices get out of control.

Yet, migration across the country from East to West NEVER ends. Ah the entitlement of Canadians and very ironic too considering they have no problem with displacing Indigenous people.
Likely the owner is going to sell the whole property to a developer who will build condos for sale.
Can’t they just drive out and come back in, every six months ? Similar to what people do with a multiple visit visa.

muhammad khan don't make a mistake of driving out, they will never let you back in.
I remember there was a petition from the exaxct same rv park about 10-20 yrs ago cuz the city was pushing the owner to comply that stupid bylaw. So the residents MARCHED to the city hall, filed complaints & won the case back then. I hope it works this time as well... My prayer goes to those poor residents who needs to leave in this winter...
Greater Vancouver needs hundreds more trailer parks with good vetting to actually allow workers to build some wealth and to circumvent the real estate and financial cartels in our region...
City Bylaws are for rich property owners. Don't have a garage?? Well, there's a bylaw in most lower mainland cities that makes sure that you can't park for more than 48 hours. You can't leave your car on the street to take transit, you can't leave your car on the street to go on a business trip or holiday. You're screwed if you don't have a garage.

I'm not rich and I have no worries. I own my home with enough parking to house 4 cars and an RV. Why? Because I planned in advance to be debt free when I retired 11 years ago.
I wonder what happen. My mom is homeless so trying to find some solutions rent is so scarse out there. Really feeling the crunch
WHAT HAPPENED?
I know rules are rules and bylaws are bylaws but if they’ve lived there for so many years and there’s no issues or problem, why evict them and to what end? We all need a space we can call home and home can come on many different forms. If and when they move, they’ll just end in another part of the city. Why all this fuss?
Could the owner of the park figure out some appoach to give those people an ambiguous residential agreement.
I live in my own home, however, we are all just a few short steps from disaster if the world economy etc were to turn against use. Then that could be us. So if your city doesnt help them now it wont help you then! Get your feet and voices to city hall!
So glad I watched this.. planning on FT RV for 2 years while we relocate for husbands work… this is the only nice RV place that isn’t on Vancouver Island
Years ago, I lost my place because of this crappy BC law as well. (I was tied to a wheelchair because of a recent amputation) I had to move way out into the bush where people stole my stuff, fired fireworks on me and killed my dog.
Pretty easy to tell, the owner is receiving complaints and this is an easy solution for him/her.

@tobin frost Agreed
just move 2 meters back and move forward every 179 days.
Walmart is going to have to build a bigger parking lot...
Common sense is a rare commodity these days....I wish you guys luck
What a circular argument. The park has to evict because of a bylaw but the city won’t enforce the bylaw? These poor people caught in the middle.
Good to know in U.S. not to stay in an RV park longer than 3-6 months. Rents are rising and more people who cannot afford those rent will opt for Van Life, RV or Motorhome when they know their local Commissioners or mayors will not do anything to prevent homelessness.
Honestly the governments are making Vancouver literally uninhabitable. There are so many things happening to push people from the entire area into homelessness. It’s a terrible place to live when you have no security and the municipalities don’t have any heart for the people. It’s like the governments really want everyone to live out of Vancouver and the surrounding areas but are not coming right out and saying everyone must move. They are just making it too difficult to live there. PS. I moved to the interior and I don’t regret it. Yes I miss the coast and the beaches but I have the mountains now and a lot more time to enjoy them. ❤
Just build full time zone rv park for these people help them good decent respectful people need help
Isn't the whole point of an RV to be mobile?
This RV looks like an expensive RV as they run for $6digits and they drop in value fast. For those $6digits, they could have purchased a house instead if they plan on staying for a long period of time. Otherwise with the RV, they can just go look for a more permanent basis RV park and live in that instead of this for vacation RV park. They can buy empty land and utility hookups and park the RV there.

hbarudi you’re mixing up RVs and camping trailers. None of the camping trailers in this video are in the 6 figure range. Paying the payment for a trailer and rent for a spot is less than $600 a month in a lot of places and if you own the trailer, then you re paying rent only. A lot cheaper than a mortgage or apartment rent.

Buying land to park an RV or trailer is very difficult. Land in our area is even more expensive than a house and still you run into the risk of authority finding out since it needs to be zoned properly and that's currently in a grey area for trailer living. There are no permanent RV parks that I know of as the law is for 6 months stay only.
Wal-Mart, church, hospital parking lots. Club organization parking lots. The town should change the rules.
The residents just need to move to another park for 6 months then they can come back to this one. We have the same law here in Ontario and my boyfriend and I move from one park to the next every 6 months. This is the only way to keep this lifestyle unless you can find someone with land who will rent it to you.
Well, you cannot realistically blame the RV Park owner for wanting to not break the law and be fined. Seems to me the fault lies mainly with the city. They should either end the by-law or pass an exemption for existing RV parks. Maybe this report will get them to do that.
Phil Dougan...worst lawyer EVER. Their first mistake.
Get lost with no options. Thanks. Who cares. You have a home that's all that matters. To the decision makers
Shame on the residential tenancy beach and this rv park.
The law is so you have to pay property taxes. Gov't don't like RVs at all.
obviously theyre selling the land to developers.
Canadian government needs to start building not for profit housing for any Canadians that wants one. Some countries already do this for their citizens. For a nation this size and with our natural resources housing should not be an issue. But I guess corporations and banks would be against this idea and they own our politicians.

tdot guy: Who is going to pay for this?
It’s about the money they probably gonna hike up the lot price for the other people that come in
Who would have thought that trying to criminalize homelessness would have had negative consequences? PS I love the council member admitting that the entire council had no idea about this when they voted to outlaw overnight RV parking
Can’t believe some people all they do is complain about everything. Leave them alone they need a place to live. Karma will always win in the end so it’s coming for you.

The average rent for an apartment in Vancouver. (An hour from Surrey) is averaging 2500-3000 a month. Can you afford that wiith utilities on top?
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Huh??? You illegally are there and you believe you have the right to be there??!?! What the heck did your parents teach you? My parents taught me to follow the rules and don't take/use anything that is not mine. Plus some of these comments are so dumb - the owners can be fined and even though the City says one thing, the owners cannot say BUT YOU SAID - that won't stand up in court LOL So they covering their butts like any law abiding citizen would. The issue is bigger and will take time... but I'm proud of he people I know who moved away because no matter how much you hope, wish, or act like a victim, if you can't afford to live in a certain place, you have to move to where you can. That's just how life works. Of course, there are many who want to live here even if it's tight but that's their decisions. Stay here if you want but don't look for handouts.
Theses rvs are very expensive!! Most cant afford these cause they pay mortgages. These squatters choose to live in an rv. These squatters have the parks full, the rest of rv owners have nowhere to go camping. 2 weeks should ne the max stay.
The landlord was hoping to rezone ; wait and see😊
