Humza Yousaf breaks down as he announces resignation
Humza Yousaf has announced he is resigning as First Minister of Scotland after his decision to scrap the SNP’s coalition deal with the Scottish Greens caused his leadership to unravel.
Delivering a statement at Bute House in Edinburgh, an emotional Mr Yousaf said he will continue in the role until his successor as leader of the SNP has been chosen.
He said: “While a route through this week’s motion of no confidence was absolutely possible, I am not willing to trade my values and principles or do deals with whomever simply for retaining power.

His people, his family, his religion, his culture. He walked into the unelected FM position thinking he owned us. We have our own families, religion, culture that we cherish. Scotland have been dealt a hand that we never want to see again. The SNP and the looney greens have to go. We need an election NOW.

Labour binned the Catholic working class and the Tories did the same to the Protestant working class. Scots will never vote for any populist parties, so the SNP are the only real alternative to any slavish bond.
