ALL of TX is getting grim. I lived in San Antonio in early 2000's and crime was never as bad as it is now. Yes there were shootings and murders sporadically but nothing like it is now. I've been working in retail for nearly 30 years and every company that I ever worked at would tell the employees to never apprehend or chase a shoplifter, under any circumstances, because of tragic outcomes such as this. Whatever items that was stolen can be replaced, but your life cannot. Using common sense can go a long way, if people actually would use it. This is a very sad situation that could have easily been prevented. Condolences to the family.

I ran a truck stop in graveyard shift, u dont pay me enough to chase folks over junk food so i just give the time stamp to my boss and let her decide if she wanted to deal with it later. Chasing them is kind of dumb since u didnt pay for it eather it wasnt stolen from u. Trust me ur boss makes all the money let them chase their own sht down. If u get hurt chasing someone like that or u hurt someone ur company is going to fire u anyways instead of a pat on the back or a bonus for getting their chips n beer back.
