long live steve marriott the soul of rock n roll.
What a fucking voice...what a fucking band
to this day this band doesn’t get enough credit as it shows. almost every song is kick ass blues or heavy rock and roll. rock on fellas👌🏼🔥
Steve will NEVER be replaced!
An absolute 1 off of a singer. Sadly it was way before my time but I would love to be able to time travel to one of their gigs.
The list of musians who say marriott was the greatest is endless this is with the blackberries and clem clempson , greg ridley , jerry shirley saw them in manchester with this line up promoting the eat it album i think it was the best gig i have ever seen steve was at the optimum of his vocal abilities 60s and 70s went off a bit in the 80s mind you he was doing 300 gigs a year and not looking after his self , he was also a great guitarist Rip
You want a taste of rock and roll at it peak? Clemson and Marriott... Unreal. Smokin' followed by Eat It. Craaaaaazy.
So much power from a little guy. God bless you Steve, keep rocking.

Steve has been rockin in heaven for some time now.
I've listened carefully to every version of this song and I must admit this one is the best. Truely masterful cover. Lead guitar, chores, Steve's vocal and dramatic tension is incredible.

edit: I forgot to mention particular moment of this performance that I tend to rewind too often. It's 5:33 - the build-up and then the apogee when he makes this hight note on "when you know my name is Steve!" Goosebumps every time.
Love to hear stuff of dad and comments, wish he and Steve were still with us, miss em dearly, it was one great experience growing up on the road with them all......

What amazing times you would have had on the road with these guys .... wonderful memories for you to cherish forever. Sadly your Dad and Steve were taken far too soon .... but as a fan I love to lose myself in their music, thankfully for all the recordings, we the fans have that. 💜
What are we going to do when all the greats have gone like Steve. Nobody to compare now.
Beautiful 1957 goldtop tone.Clempson Rocks!
THAT "LES PAUL "WAS IN GOOD HANDS!!!! INCREDIBLE GIBSON TONE!!!WOW..take a look at the photos to see some rare vintage guitars...and listen!!!!!!

Steve Marriott and Robert Plant best of the best

Una de las mejores canciones del rock y el blues.
Thank you Yovcho, so very much, for making such a great video and sharing it here. The 1st coffee of my day (24/03/20) and a taste of Humble Pie's mastery for breakfast.
Stunning! The band at their peak!
Well Done! I enjoy all the album covers. They were/Are an incredible Band. One of my Top 5
get me all the way down💙
what a great song
The intro lead is perhaps the best there is. The dual guitarist performance is absolutely fantastic. Hear a lot of Peter Green/Danny Kirwan influence from the lead guitarist. Just fantastic band. SL

Steve Marriott had just returned from New York, got drunk and fell asleep smoking a cigarette. His bed caught on fire and he crawled the wrong direction to get out of the room. Thats what killed the band.

The "real" Humble Pie was long over before the late great Steve Marriott died. Jerry Shirley still owns the band name, so this year (2018) he formed yet another incarnation of the band.

@@meistertynemouth Indeed! I have also finished All or Nothing by Simon Spense (or Spence). This book is even more heartbreaking than All Too Beautiful, if you can believe that. My gosh what a mesmerizing talent who fell back into alcoholism and cocaine after being free of it - for the most part - during his short time back with Manon in England, about 1984-86. He was looking better in about 1985-87. But by 89 was bloated, kidney and alcohol problems again and of course the fire. The truth is tragic indeed!

Thanks to your 15 year ago self Yovcho for making this montage to go along with a great song, hope yer still around and doing well)
This was from IMHO The Pie's best by far live album "King Biscuit Flower Hour" from Winterland in '73. Frampton was long gone. Gram prob may have started the Pie but Marriott is the heart and "Soul" of Pie. They were at their peak on this album and it outclasses live at the Filmore. Sorry. RIP best rock voice Ever.

I couldn't agree more 1949er! Steve is absolutely phenomenal with Clem here, but it's also the Blackberries that bring out the best soul in Steve vocally. The harmonies with his lead take me off on a cloud of high elevation....and that guitar solo waving it's way through those harmonies is a masterpiece of sublime sound.

Marriott wanted Frampton to join Small Faces so that he could concentrate on being front man. The reputed reason that the Small Faces never toured America is cos Marriott didn't have enough confidence in his guitar playing. When the other members of the Small Faces vetoed Frampton joining, Marriott apologized to Frampton and offered to help him form a band. He introduced Frampton to Gerry Shirley from Apostolic Intervention. When Marriott walked out on the Small Faces he contacted Frampton and asked if he could join his new band. Frampton said yes. Marriott also said i've got a bass guitarist too. That was Greg Ridley from Spooky Tooth.

Yep - Just comes out kicking with Up Our Sleeves and rolls on through. I like much better than Performance/Fillmore. Also, the recording quality is outstanding.
Steve Marriott is what Steve Perry might have sounded like had he went more in the direction of Paul Rodgers.
Awesome
His “backies” were from Rays and Tina turners groups (and didn’t they have a sound with steve with “never” a disapointment).
Thanks people.

Ha, first comment for three months - got to have a little bit Humble Pie at least once a week, huh?
Why didn't I know them before ?
i can't imagine this guitar won't be passed on.. having big trouble (lightning brain) with that..
Hi eturfey - to me with the exception of Davies Bros, Townsend, Page,Gilmour, Waters & B.May the best ROCK musicians ARE GONE. Marriott was IT hands down, even in decline, then there was R Gallagher, Ridley, Ronnie Lane plus all the soul guys - Brown, Gaye, Cooke, Redding even Michael Jackson in his own way.The greats are almost gone now that's why we have John Mayer, .B.Crowes, Spears, Jonas, Coldplay etc.. "rock is dead but long live rock" .P. Townsend.. I miss real rock & musicians.. sigh

better, because on the cd EAT IT he doesnt sing enought in the mic or it's just to low you cant even here him enough. so the cd is bad for my taste because of the bad recording.
