Yep, I remember myself under the left front wing adjusting the tappets on the side valve engine while my das turned over the engine with the crank handle! Greeting from a Brit residing in the USA.

My Dad had one, I was around 12 years old in 1964. It was around 10 years old and he paid £45 for it! It kept going for 4 years plus and so reliable too.

My uncle had one of these, in brown too, in NZ. This looks like the model. I was about 5yo, in 1957. He painted the tyres white to make it look more sporting. He was still a batchelor; his father bought it for him. As my grandad did not drive, the main purpose of having the car was to take him and my grandma grocery shopping on Saturday mornings; if my uncle hadn't slept overnight somewhere at a party; being the eldest son, he was a bit spoilt. Just thought I'd share this. Cheers! PS, the car was brand-new.

@@martinduffy386 We are from Northland, Kaikohe; a rather prosperous, well-kept little town, mainly dairy farming and timber mills, but not anymore. Anyway, one more little detail I remember about the car; on the steering wheel, was a 'steering knob?' with a coloured picture insert of Jane Mansfield, in recline, in a bathing suit! Haha!

I have vivid memories of the car you mention (older brother chiming in here 😀). I'm not sure when we sold it, perhaps 1970. Our father kept it in immaculate condition. After replacing the rings and bearings we very carefully ran it in. It was lovely to drive. I bought a 53 model and had a great run out of it. Thanks for the trip down memory lane and yes it is possible that this was our family car all those years ago.
