Humans vs Superhumans | When Monsters Were Real and We Almost Went Extinct

Humans vs Superhumans | When Monsters Were Real and We Almost Went Extinct
Humans are the apex predator. Not an apex predator. The apex predator. Other than a handful of bacteria and viruses, there’s pretty much nothing stronger, more intelligent, or more adaptable than Homo sapiens.
Telling the human story from the beginning is difficult.
It was a time when two words defined our world: fear and violence. It was a time when we were not the apex predator; we were their prey.
We emerged from our caves during the day. Hoping we wouldn’t be hunted by the monsters in the woods.
So vicious were these monsters they still live in our myths -- and our nightmares. They created a generational trauma embedded into our DNA over hundreds of thousands of years of evolution.
These creatures were stronger, faster, and (when it came to combat) more intelligent than we were. It’s a miracle any of us are even here.
This is the story of how modern humans conquered the monsters and won the battle for the world.
But here's the thing: those fearsome monsters defeated by humans? Were other humans.

What you’re calling Neanderthals are/were actually called Nephilim. They’re mentioned in Genesis 6: 1-4 and the full story is told in the book of Enoch. 200 Watchers came down to earth and mated with human (homo sapiens) women. Their children became giants and are still around today in the form of Bigfoot (Sasquatch, Yeti, etc). Dr. Melba Ketchum did their DNA analysis and put it up on her website. It’s exactly what you’d expect: their mitochondrial DNA (the female line) is 100% Homo sapiens (human), while the male line is unknown.

as an indonesian myself i've heard about myth from my ancestor where ancient humans in indonesia used to fight man-eater humanoid creature that pretty similar to us but bigger and stronger. they had fangs and eyes like beast and covered in fur. to this day you can find depiction of their faces in javanese or balinese wooden mask used mostly in their dance ceremony. and that's so similar to neanderthals you're describing in this video. i've heard of javanese mythology from my grandparents and my mom is an art teacher in middle school so they naturally know best about how their ancestor literally living with "neanderthals" that known as other names in javanese language like Buto Cakil or Rakshasha (you can even google that names) edit : having non indonesian foreigner explains neanderthals known as buto cakil or rakshasha in our culture is wild man. firstly i thought they're not exist but people found their fossils.

You didn't mention how modern humans/cro-magnons had one major advantage against neanderthals, and that was our ability to run long distance. Since neanderthals bodies run hotter, they can't run long distance without tiring out. To survive against neanderthals, early modern humans simply outran them. I'd imagine in those days they probably had some kind of early warning method in place like a scouting party or something.

The way you put the whole camp fire scenario together shows a true gift because I swear, I thought you were going to say “ we know this because of drawing & paintings “, but no that was you which is amazing. Also, I hope WF knows the power they are holding. Streaming services has ruined the tv watching experience. Great series, little episodes, then the show gets cancelled with cliffhangers. WF has reignited my desire to look forward to watching something & actually enjoying it. The episodes never miss. Hey, a major factor that you completely forgot to mention is dogs. The domestication of wolves into the proto-dog occurred around the same time that humans gained the upper hand on Neaderthals. It is speculated that we are compatible to live, work, and hunt alongside dogs, because our eyes have whites, like they do, from which they can infer a great deal of non-verbal communication, like they do from one another. Apparently the all black structure of the Neanderthal eye made bonding with canines impossible. I don’t recall where the info about their eyes being dramatically different from all the other primates originates, but it’s what I’ve heard or read in the past.

Chickasaw and Choctaw creation stories say we came from the ground (caves). They also have stories of the Lofa (hairy giant of the woods) and Iyaganasha (little people). The Lofa would chase game away and steal women. Your video fits very much in line with some extremely old oral traditions of North American indigenous peoples.

LOL You can find lots of ...cough..." North American indigenous peoples"...whatever that means...stories to fit whatever narrative needed. Since they, in the group meaning and not the Leftist meaning, did not have a written language, until meeting Europeans, how can ANY "Native" story be historically confirmed?

They need to keep it online - traditional media is dying, but between youtube and patreon, they can be as unique, inventive, and creative as they want to be. I do agree about the production company idea. If WF had the resources and time to help foster other shows with great potential and help them build a solid production, they could literally change the game for quality creator-owned/independent streaming content.

Interesting hypothesis and cool story but According to studies it was the other way around. We were more socially organized and not so kind with orhers who could be a competition for resources. And Yes Neanderthals were physically stronger, and intelligent as well, but their small isolated family packs, their tools/weaponry were less complex than what the homo sapiens carried, climate created a lack of resources and the neanderthals had no chance at the critical race for prey and resources. At the end it wasn't all because of confrontations since there were cases of mutual cooperation and interbreeding.. But definitely we contributed to their demise.

I agree too. The violence theory seems a little divisive. Some people really want a “violent lesser being that we need to be afraid of” Not saying that this video is trying to spread that idea. But it’s dangerous territory to walk around in
