I thought these were stealth ships. How come they were only stealthed until they first showed up and never again afterwards or even between battles?

I think it’s because the other race was using lost technology so they were more advanced than they thought and they could detect them.

@Clock_Man yes. You really need to read and think about the words I used. They showed up stealthed. They never re-engaged their stealth capability. Not between the first fight with the pursuing cruisers and the stealth fighters, and certainly not between those fighters and the big command ship. It's a big plot hole.
