    This move is meant as a finisher to a combo when your opponent is dazed. This basically ensures a knockout. Also people practise this move so they can do it extremely fast not giving enough time unless your prepared for it to push.

    Excatly, you can't pull one of those kicks off without knowing what you're doing, which is why people who haven't trained martial arts shouldn't try to pull something fancy off in a violent situation

    Everything is about timing, my Jiu jitsu sensei (who's also a 1st dan kyokushin karate), told me about a tournament, where he crossed path with another black belt. It didn't last long, because his opponent started out with a jumping roundhouse. He threw him a couple of feet and finished of the round (how, I'm not sure, as he didn't tell me). Looks cool, but not if your opponent haven't been beaten a bit senseless before you perform it, hahaha

    a broken jaw is a grusome sight... and believe me, middle school Tae Kwon is the most intense thing i have ever seen. those kinds will kill you if you are not careful. ive seen a kid basically executing his friend with a tornado kick leaving him crying with a broken jaw filled with blood and all. and his crying was all fucked up because of the broken jaw.

    Such an awesome move! Takes great skill and accuracy to perform and land the tornado kick and many other unorthodox moves like a jump spinning heel kick to the face. People might think that just flashy and it doens't work in a real fight but it does for highly advanced fighters. Whoever thinks it doesn't work are already proven wrong by a few great mma and tkd fighters.

    Agreed completely. I've gone to many martial art schools and tried many different martial arts. No matter which you try there are pro's and con's for each. Many of the actual martial art moves are far too dangerous to use unless your life is in danger. But that's what makes it interesting.

    The difference in adding the spin vs just a straight kick is that the spin sets the kicking foot in motion sooner and gives more travel distance for acceleration of the foot which ultimately means more lbs of force being applied to the kick. The spin + hip thrust adds about 150lbs of force as opposed to the standing kick. The figures I used come from the following videos, "Human Weapon - Tae Kwon Do - Tornado Kick" and "Human Weapon - Bokator: Cup Jaran".

    they do kick with that part of the foot actually (except for in muay thai/boran) lol, he drives the momentum into the opponent thats the whole point of the kick. and ive had a pretty messed up childhood/adolescence with a lot of fights. and i can tell you ive only used that kick once on a complete idiot who didnt know how to fight in the first place and it knocked him out. so i guess it is an effective kick if its unsuspected by a shitfaced opponent lol x). it was funny though xD

Though I started when the gym was getting people prepared for grading so I'm constantly having to perform moves that I haven't had the time yet to pick up. This is one of them, it can be a little tricky to pull off if your new to it too.

    @jthetrackr I wouldn't worry too much about that. For one, it isn't necessary to aim for the head if this height is not in your comfort range (meaning you can deliver a decent strike without going off balance or having to fight the lack of stretch). Once you have a nice powerful spin down, a chest-high round kick with a shin to end this move is a good way to crack one's ribs. Going for high targets like head implies being closer. The longest reach is when aiming waist high.

    @5674trackrunner The leg that kicks is also the leg that propels you off the ground. A deeper chamber (in this case, bend your knee more) will give you more travel. Same thing as standing still then jumping in the air, the more you squat first, the higher you will be able to jump.

  • @parahumanoid
    @parahumanoid14 жыл бұрын

    Oh, and don't try it with your foot or toes like shown here :). A shin is a better option, although shorter range. But with that you aren't limited only to sensitive targets like one's head. You can easily go for the chest or the ribs with that. Also, you may find that finishing a tornado with an axe instead of the round may be applicable in many scenarios. That would be a pretty good option to land on one's neck or shoulder. This way, you have the gravity working for you as well.
