Yeah my first thought when i saw this, I'm pretty sure it's the same move, or at least very similar. I watched it so many years ago... yet i still remember that final fight clearly, what a movie :)

yeah, sure, I get that you'll have to train a lot in order to increase the speed of the kick but in comparison so many other kicks this one needs to be executed at a precise time.

yes agreed:) what i like is a basic front kick while stepping into the opponent. some call it front thrust kick. harder to read if you donot jump. timing is everything, but if you connect fight is over in 1 blow. awesome

amazingly powerful kick, the switching of the leg creates the power. i used this kick in a fight and knocked the guy at least 10 feet flying into a table, my target was the chest

these kicks look cool, like spinning kicks, which can be effective if landed, but leave you exposed during the kick, if the other guy catches you in motion before you land it, you get countered.

Through the heart kick. We were too told that it is not likely you will land it.. but if the opportunity arises, it can be devastating if properly delivered to the diaphragm

Chin-Na = "Separating Flesh from Bone" it is a style of grappling and as the name translates, ripping at muscles to cause great pain. Ying Jow Pai = "Eagle Claw System" is a system that incorporates joint locks to impair mobility and give you control over your opponent. Look up "Leung Shum" videos on here for some great demonstrations by him and some of his students.

If you fight right and wear down you're opponent and you still have plenty of energy, even if you feel fatigued, it really might be worth it. And its more effective than you think, a kick like this is very fast and makes contact on the downward of a jump and since most jumps are like an arc, just might give the kick more force/energy. Really this kick when, not if, makes contact will do some damage. Highly recommend it in the middle of a fight...might make it the end.

This version of it is meant to be a push, hence the arrow pushing straight back. So when you do the kick, you jump forward, not up. It's a lot like a flying knee in MT, except you lunge your foot forward. To do a jump snap kick (TKD), you're jumping upwards more and snapping with the ball of the foot in a more upwards direction... I hope that helps...

Chin Na is like punching, kicking, or throwing. It's just an element of fighting found in all Gung Fu styles, not a style unto itself. However, Eagle Claw does make a lot of use of it.

This is an international website, You choose what language to set it at. JKD is a martial art in the sense that it is The study of combat,It employs all manners of fighting methods found in other art forms; punch, kick grap , lock etc. Just because it promotes self exploration and cross-pollination of other forms, does not elivate it's status to concept greater than MA. Darkdragon was trying to explain that theoretically all styles are concepts, all having variations due to personal preferance.

@Cagedand3nRaged That depends. If you spar full-contact and incorporate grappling into your training, having your kick caught by an untrained opponent is not a big danger. But if you only practice light point-sparring in training, then you could have a big problem.

I agree! if they are rushing in, they tend to leave theyre chest/stomach exposed, in my experience, leaving them open for one of these...also if they keep a boxing style guard, a front kick style of this can pass between the hands, to the chin...

Chin Na = "Separating Flesh from Bone" it's a style of grappling in which you lock your opponent and claw at their muscles to do as the name implies. or at least try. Ying Jow Pai = "Eagle Claw System" is a style that emphasizes locking your opponent's joints to limit their mobility and give you leverage and control. Look up "Leung Shum" on here for some great demonstrations of both Eagle Claw and Wu Style Taichi. in short, Chin-Na = claws muscles, Eagle Claw = Claws Joints

@Cagedand3nRaged That doesn't necessarily mean your kick was strong. One common error people make with kicks, especially flying kicks, is that they end up pushing their target more than striking it.

@pepehorhae All of this move's power comes from the momentum generated by your leap, a weaker jump equals a weaker overall kick, by pushing off with your stronger left side you generated more energy to deliver the kick with your right.

If it weren't for the fact that this martial arts super hero would be way too fast for most other people to react. If you know he's going to jump like that, sure you can take his legs. But when a kick like that is completely random, you won't have the time.

what it comes down to is that these people want to live in a fantasy world where you can beat people up like in the karate kid or other karate movies. there is no wrong way to win a fight but you sure cant argue with the fact that your best tools are boxing and jiu jitsu.

The kick can go straight to the throat, face or simply the chest!!
