I dont know why this kick isnt utilized more in mma, this is a great counter attack to several techniques, and yes I do train at an mma school. There are several times I through this kick up and I have to check it before it hits their jaw.
That light grey guy is so mean, look at the poor dark grey guy crying after the kick!
these videos are perfect to learn the movements for fight animations...THANX :D

Where animations?
Imagine having a shoe while performing this kick in a street fight. It would go through the damn jaw!
The hidden technique in a long kick is using your hips as a gyro. A small circle beginning with dropping the side of your hip your kicking with lets you pull it into motion. Since your hip is lower you get to pull it up with the last half of your circle, this gives you the advantage of using more muscles to pull the same weight up. More muscles mean a faster snap to the kick. Do it right and miss. Your leg should pull you to into the air. IT's that fast as you finish.

You kick with the ball of your foot.
@LatasMan This technique is possible, you just have to know when to use it. There is NO single technique that you can do at any circumstance because there is counter for everything. If we elaborate this even further, then why do we even fight because every technique can be coutered? It's the skill of the fighter who can time his techniques to correct situations that wins the fight.
Silva vs. Belfort was a front leg kick.... I only remember that because it was so unusual... the front leg is actually a lot trickier to bring up from an aggressive forward stance.
Anderson Silvas been the only one to really implement it
...but is fun to watch. I like the slapping sounds when they connect.
is that you, juggernaut?
Gastreizen. From the Pankration episode. One of my favorite kicks.
This kick is really useful if you combine it with tornado kick. The fighting moves in that youtube account isnt just single thing. Combinations are great bro
this kick is a killer one
Timberland boots+ this move+ long jump/track runner legs+ experience= Chuck Norris stabbing a soft fruit with his finger. XD That's power alright!
You gonna break your toes with this kick but if u wear any shoe is gonna be very very effective. This is a super fast kick.
Move to the side and quickly move in while the leg is in the air. Neutralized.
You have to aim for the throat/chin, you could; if theres an opening, strike them at the solar plexis. Pretty much the only two major uses for a front kick in TKD.
if i try to kick that high, i fall
@no0kieNRW Don't they usually use more of a pushing motion for their front kicks?
Personally I love it when people argue about witch martial art is better. Most people don't understand how successful fighters win. Its not that its a better style that any one else is that they have practiced more than any one. My Sifu once said that all fights break down in this order from most important to least. Speed, Strength, and Technique. So in that all of the martial arts are just as good as any other it depends on the person the time you put in to it, and who is teaching you.
whoa that looks deadly! it ilso looks like itd hurt your foot alot!
i scared to learn this now
i like how at the end of these videos they describe all the horrible debilitating (death is a debilitating condition) effects it will have on your opponent. seems sadisticly studied.
I used to ask for this but then I took an arrow in the knee.
oops, had to make an edit, if you use this to hit the jaw, you use the ball of your foot. its actually quite easy to do if you train for it
@MrJahsmoke What they don't show here is that when you throw this kick (At least, I was taught this way), you curl your toes back and strike with the ball of the foot, not the toe. However, it IS possible to condition the toes to become more resiliant to injury, much like fingers can be conditioned for gouge techniques and shins for roundhouse-type kicks.
if you truly want to learn self defense, get a friend and slowly try to hit each other, but slowly, as you deflect thier attacks and retaliate, over time you get faster and faster, experiment more attaks, get faster, get better, until you can both atack at a good speed and deflect. THAT is how me and my friend are doing it, its pretty cool too!
you'll break your toes when you do this
I like that!
imagine doing it with steel toes
*Kicks the head clean off and over a american football goal* AND THE POINT IS GOOOOOOOOOD!!!!!!!!!!!
lol same thing i was thinking when he said 'that type of speed yields over 1000 pounds of force, enough to puncture an atoms apple and crush your windpipe' That there ladies is def a killer kick! Someone post the effects and effieciency on their lil brother plz and post. thx
imagine this while wearing steel caps
I don't know about any other japanese/chinese martial arts but yeah in Korean TKD you curl your toes back and kick with the ball of your foot. I break wood like this and doesn't hurt. Although it is more difficult on a roundhouse kick. The targets are groin, mouth, chin, nose, eye, liver, and solar plexus. Any where there is soft tissue. If your going to kick someone in the thigh, use a thai kick or kyokshin roundhouse kick.
The Seagal Kick
well its good to know what ideas of long range atacks pp have you wil be prepared to defend .....
high kicks r awesome if ur tall n ur fighting sum1 short
@racingmylife15 shouldn't you bend your toes back and try to hit with your instep?
i wish that i was like that fast
One thing everyone gets wrong. Basic physics!!! Velocity times mass = momentum Acceleration times mass = Force Force is impact damage, is what f&*k's them up. Both force and momentum can control the opponents balance, and position of their body and limbs.
Yeah and break all your toes if you land it like that 😂
Didn't think of that...that explains it.
actually helps, even if your wearing shoes
@drag0nfis7 ab chagi means forward kick so it can be to any part of the body...
are they trying to kill us O_O teachin us dis sh*t
this is nice but when you will teach us how to shoot hadoukens?
hmm super i learned that way too what happens is that the balls of your feet strike instead of your toes, which does seem alot less... painful to yourself lol
man some kickme with that in a fight... twice
damn!! A human is definetlya dangerous weapon...
@FinalFan0 What I meant was that I felt it was over-generalized. There are many kung fu martial arts styles that would not use that kick, or if they did, not in the manner described in the video. They could have identified which style they were specifically using, instead of just throwing out a blanket term.
they dont really show it, but your supposed to snap the kick back after hitting the neck or chin, which will create power
@fluffyzhangfei you can, but it doesn't really work since your toes still point upwards at the moment of impact so you'll still hurt yourself.
this move is deadly but extremely hard to do. because chances are, ur opponent is gonna move, block or sway away from it
@DualAxer yea, though i think dollyo chagi would be the best choice for the head :P either way, TKD is awesome :D
good point, but the first instinct will be to block, right? very hard to catch it coming straight through as well, a lot harder than say a roundhouse kick.
no i thought its called the head step. the part of your foot before the toes. right??
I'm training is tkd, but i think Kung Fu seems more efficient in battle standing. Even though it seems to me that it is harder to learn, i think it's deadly.
@ThePinkMan Ah, got it. I didn't realize that it was just titling the episode, not labeling the move
unless your wearing shoes these move going to hurt your toes to
you can do the superman combo with this
@AzzInferno Makes sense :) thanks
i guess you could i was taught to hit the chin with the heel, that way, if you're not flexible enough or miss, you could potentially hit the nose or the throat and it saves toes :)
Just like Anderson Silva did!!! Belfort still sleeping!!! haushauhsuha!
You will only break your toes if u kick like this...
Problems: 1. "The further the foot travels the greater its acceration" -> should be greater the final velocity. 2. "Fkick=Fhead>1000pounds" and "v impact = 40mph" --> With a foot and ankle weight of about 4 lbs. I calcuate that the force imparted from a foot travelling at 40 mph would only be about 320 lbs. Whoever runs the numbers in this series clearly has no idea how physics works.
@DrunkenTrain I don't know, I enjoy having all my toes broken
holy shit one kick kill
human weapon is very very good
@DualAxer ALMOST! ap chagi is aimed at the chest, this kick looked like it was going for the jaw or throat
Don't turn your foot, cause that is a small technique that will throw your force to the side. Your foot is connected at one end, Not in the center. You can pull them back, or you can connect with your toes scraping his neck and the actual hit would be further on the top of you foot. To use the top you'd really need to do conditioning.
This, I think, is the easiest kick to do. All other kicks are a little more difficult to pull off correctly. Don't they have to pull their toes up when doing a front kick rather than outstretching the toes?
if you pull your toes back this kick works perfectly fine. if you don't like the kicker in the animation, you're going to break your toes. and a front kick is a standard move in pretty much any martial art. it doesn't have to be to the throat, it can hit pretty much anywhere above the shin and still be effective.
@TehSalomon not if ur toes are lifted, it'll hit with the ball of the foot(hard bone and toughened skin behind the big toe
in Taekwondo this kick is called ap chagi
@STGsuper Toes. The word is toes.
''curl your toes toward you when you kick'' lol do you walk around bare footed ?
@in1pieces In a real fight, it would be near impossible to land a hit as perfect as it is shown in the video, due to the constant movement and exchange of blows. But I assume that if someone were to stand still and take the hit, the effects would be similar.
I used to be a human weapon, but then I took an arrow in the knee.
this good but i try this on sparring and we cant do this becose evrybody blocks this kick
steven seagal taught this kick to those grey guys.
ive learned that thats not that great of an attack, but it is if you hit down south, otherwise its pretty much useless because you will suffer broken bones in the foot, i learned if you use that attack make sure you do it right otherwise you are fighting with injuries
@slingman6 the bal of your foot is not on the top of your foot but underneath it haha, but still the bones in your foot are so small.. you can train any part of your body to become more resiliant thats true. bit this is a kick i wouldnt do in a fight inside or outside a ring.
Fuck crushing windpipes. My toe would hurt!
@LatasMan the tecnic is possible and very easy in a street fight. I preffer kicking in the chest because most fighters and people in general are guarding their head. This kick is great in contact sports( my favourite is to do it with a jump a.k.a flying rear front kick or ``tobi mae geri``) I am training the russian martial art ``Systema`` created by Kadochnikov. And remember people get hurt in fights. :D ^^
A guy with average fighting skill wont get hit by a high kick in close range, and you cant kick him if you are grappling, nobody will let you grab him and kick him, and you got this wrong, the kick impacts the chin not the neck, so the damage is done to the brain so this is a KO kick not a lethal kick.
@jeffdoeskungfu right, but this is another technique..often fighters get knocked out by getting a toe into the eye...very painful ^^
U target soft tissue like Neck, Thigh, ribs. But u must condition your toes to b strong by sandbag & or heavybag work. I prefer 2 use a straight stab path. Its lightning fast if done right. Can use front or rear leg.
@TheWhiteOwl23 sounds just like pushing hands in kung fu and ta'i chi. :D try next doing footwork...
imagine this kick with a steel toe...
human weapon.. wow...
I wouldn't do this kick unless i had steel capped boots. Ball of the foot or as mentioned before, the heel is a lot better option.
This is why some people train their kicks to poke with their toes. Crushing windpipes and penetrating to livers. Real muscle busters. Like a charlie horse x100
@VictorMLight in the perfect situation you'll hit him with the top of your foot, but ít can easily go wrong since you once have like 1 inch of margin (is that spelling correctly??) With shoes on it will probably work, but you don't always wear them so it can be risky
the kick is presented to the throat so no, you cant break your toes, and i suppose you cant really hit the thorat with your heel
Did once in the fight...opponent KO, just one kick
Lol.. gotta be a Kung Fu Master to execute that one. Normal ppl just throw a fast punch into someones throat.
@drag0nfis7 yes, both have different effects, just have to choose for yourself:) kyong re ;)
it called a teap
