I played this with our youth ministry and they loved it! I think it works best in larger spaces. It's hard to do it in a small room since it's important that the X's and O's line up. Thank you so much for great game ideas! Please post more. God bless you and your ministry!

A variation we have done to make the game more active (which also solves the issue of the teams only making lines in the row closest to them, as mentioned at the end of this video) is having the teams mixed up and spread out around the room. In our case, we use a gym, so all players have to be outside the basketball court lines, and the grid is setup with hula hoops in the center.

This is great! We did something similar, except we played in a gym. You had to run across the whole length of the gym, and then both people got to sit down. The trick was that once there were three people from each team up there, we started to bring people back each round :)

My another comment on variation, what if you alternate the O verse X on each side. for example, before you called their number let the player stand in alternated number ( side 1- 1x,2O, 3x, 4 O, 5x, 6O) same thing goes to side 2.

Genesis Hernandez Hi! I like to encourage kids to get a more difficult three-in-a-row than the toe nearest them. It's become just a race to those seats. Adds extra challenge. Check the playlist for games for Elementary students!

Possible rule addition: Teams can't sit in the column unless they make a complete circle around the chairs. (I don't know if that would just add too much or not.)

As in why do you only allow the one who reaches first to sit at the spot and ask the other to move out That way if for example on 2 successive rounds “X” gets a spot first There will be no “Y” board at all ?

Hi, Ishani! After a number is called, the two people that have that number rush to any spot in the grid. First of the two to sit down and make their team letter with their arms (X or O) gets the spot! Hope that helps!

Right! If you've called 4 already, and one of them is sitting in the grid, you wouldn't call the same number again until you have finished a round.

I solved your problem of having the teams win too easily in the row they are standing closest to. The solution is instead of having the two teams stand separately on opposite sides of the chair, have everyone stand in a large circle surrounding the chairs. You may also have them shuffled around so that they are not necessarily standing next to their teammates. However, just make sure everyone knows and REMEMBERS which team they are on before spreading them out amongst the circle.
