"I am deeply taken with traditional music, it moves me, it connects you to emotion.
The idea with HUMAN was to create songs that would reflect the same emotion generated by the interviews. I wanted things to open up, to open up one’s heart, to let the sadness be without any restraint. HUMAN has been one of these rare moments in my life as a film composer during which I could express all these different cultures at the same time : either working on minimalist songs or meeting with these singers and musicians coming from all around the world. Which note did I first produce ? I had more like a global vision in mind, an atmosphere that would merge into the film and that would bring people together, this was my starting point. The part I created for the Mongolian sequence might be the best summary of the atmosphere I wanted the film to have.
Yann has given me a particular role as a film composer that is very diffrent from the one other directors usually give me. There is a strong friendship between us, an intimate relationship. He’s generous. You follow him because of his fantastic instinct, I can advise on the artistic process being in a way the first audience."

"Les musiques traditionnelles m’ont accaparé, elle me touchent, elles ont un rapport direct avec l’émotion. Pour HUMAN, mon idée était de construire une sorte de résonnance des interviews par un chant qui délivrerait la même émotion. J’avais envie que les choses s’ouvrent, que le cœur s’ouvre, que la tristesse s’ouvre, de ne pas avoir de retenue. HUMAN a été un des rares moments dans ma vie de compositeur de musiques de film, où j’ai pu exprimer toutes ces cultures différentes : être aussi bien dans des musiques minimalistes que dans des rencontres avec tous ces musiciens et chanteurs venus d’ailleurs. Quelle note m’est venue en premier ? C’était plus une vision globale, un univers en osmose avec le film, où il était question de partage et de rencontre, qui ont été mon point de départ. D’ailleurs, pour moi ma composition faite pour les images de la Mongolie résume particulièrement l’univers que j’ai voulu pour ce film.
Avec Yann, j’ai une place particulière en tant que compositeur, différente de celle que me donnent les autres réalisateurs. Entre lui et moi, il y a une amitié profonde, nos échanges sont complices. C’est quelqu’un de généreux. Son instinct assez fantastique fait qu’on arrive à le suivre, je peux me permettre de donner mon avis dans la construction du film, parce que je suis dans le fond, le premier public."

This is probably one of the most profound and beautiful things I have ever seen in my 29 years on this beautiful planet.
Humanity is such a beautiful species, what we are capable of is beyond magical. My heart yearns for the day the entire species is awakened; leaving behind violence, greed, self-destruction, ownership behavior, illusion of differences and walk through the doors of true existence and our purpose in this realm. Allowing the coming generations to teach us while we offer them a foundation to build on!

There is a mixture of pain, of forgotten memory, of loss, of love, of anger, of hope, of kindness, of wit, of solemness, and of gentleness in all of those faces. I love humanity. But I hate the injustice and the evil that exists. Good must prevail. And I still believe there is good in ALL of us. WE must prevail or fail as offspring and keepers of the earth.
If you’re watching this on a mobile device and if you hold your device at the right angle you can see your own faces reflection while you’re watching the other faces, it’s amazing! Also, I love it when they start smiling! It’s so nice to see smiling faces after over a year of forced masking.
I feel so much LOVE for humankind after watching this beautiful movie!

Many times i feel so lonely in the middle of the city.... I got to be a strong man beetween the giant towers and th metal serpent race.... But i think so many times "i was not born for this life...." I don't need salary or big car, i don't need power or luxury watch.... All i want is green grass, deep blue sea, worm wind, dry desert or fresh river... Can not stay here many more...but i have to be patient... just one year....one last year....and it will be ok for me to leave the big crazy town.... I just need fruits, vegetables, small backpack and shoes.... I have enough money, not rich but really not poor....just enough to live quitely... I have to leave...i have to live....

Every time I watch this movie makes me realize the beauty of the earth, the universe, Creation. I thank our CREATOR for such wonders. Humanity is a beautiful thing. Indeed and this beautiful film invites to go within, reflect on our own lives as also be(come) aware of the greater whole/picture and realize how broken our world is. I don't know many whom would be touched/moved by this film, but good to read the comments, including yours. Take care and try to live in love versus fear and be true to yourself.

Just a few minutes into the movie and Im lost in an ocean of beautiful emotions. The opening is just magical and the music from the outset summarises what to expect. A yearning a knowing, a common sense of wonder. Judge not since we have more in common than you may be able to imagine. Excellent!

I agree about showing it in schools Maurizio, was thinking that myself; that children should see this wondering if they would have the attention span. Beautiful what you are saying about the film being a life partner. I saw it today for the first time and I am deeply deeply touched especially with the human tower scenes in Spain & the swimming scenes in China (because of how social distancing is now apparently a new normal) Kind regards;

Many faces, many colors, many distinctive features, boundaries and even walls between each. Yet the heart is transplantable between each. Why are we fighting each other. Believe me, most of the time in modern times it is in the name of god we believe in. We are killing each other in the name of religion and greed and power. What a pity, mankind. Wake up.

Never cried so much in a movie.... I was so touched by the stories and felt immediately connected to all humans on this beautiful planet! lets create a wonderful future together! each day one good deed for someone who doesn't expect it.... as a doctor working in an environment where there is never enough time I decided long time ago to give at least one patient a day my full attention without time limitation... so many beautiful moments happened because of this little change....
