I wonder if that how Abstraction works? Like the person finally manages to get the headset off, but their avatar doesn't despawn properly and remains in the game. Then because theirs no one to control it anymore, the avatar begins glitching like crazy and goes on a rampage. That's one theory.

Would align with why it's called abstraction. Once the personality and details (inclusing controller) is removed from the avatar, it makes it more of an abstract concept than an actual object.

Funny enough, Kevin Temmer Tunes, an animator of the series headcannons Pomni's real world self is Martha, a character from a music video he made called What's the Matter Martha?
