Great review! Just what I’ve been waiting for. I have low vision, (I can’t see small icons / fonts) so, I would more than likely need to change the settings to 200 %. Is that the highest number it can be adjusted to?

Thanks for the review Mike. Love how you walk through what happens during the normal user setup phase. You're the only reviewer so far who showed the resolution scaling configs and its really thoughtful. I'm considering to get this pen display but I just have a question on the resolution when on 100% scaling. If you look for it, is there any noticeable pixilation?

No. But my eyes are 50 and they are not 2 inches from the screen:) I cannot see any pixels. They do make a 4k of this display. Maybe that would be better:) M

But if I would have to scale it other than 100% then I wouldn't feel comf'table with the extra $400 difference even with all the other feature it comes with. I think I'm confident in getting 24 plus now. Really appreciate your response, Mike. Thank you! Thank you! :)

i swap my cintiq 22 with the 24 plus the resolution is worth it

Great review! I have to replace my Cintiq 22 and I was undecided whether to get a new Wacom of a Huion. I think I'll switch to Huion.

Anyone know if huion works well with m1 macs? also where can one buy extra matte screen protectors?

Nice review, Mike. Still looking at the Studio 16 but I wish it had 32gb RAM and a video card. Oh well, maybe next gen. I'd get the 24 but I can't put it on my lap. Well, at least not easily.

@@jasontkruse no…display tablet. Yea…but it is a bit smoother at the bigger scale brushes. If your machine can handle it. My Samsung did great in the review. I would wait till the end of the year…seems they always release something new in October.

@@MichaelClaridaArts Well, I know MS is going to refresh their lineup but I don't expect major changes there. (I'd like a bigger screen, pen improvements, and a keyboard I can access while drawing).

I assume Michael sent the Kamvas 24" back so there's no follow-up on whether there's been driver issues. That's the complaint I hear going around and Huion doesn't seem to care?

Between this and the XP Pen Artist Pro 24, which would you prefer or recommend?

Hard to say…they are both epic machines that are so close. I say go with what is on sale. They both have such a similar experience. The XPPen film had to be replaced. I have had some challenges with drivers as well. Hope this helps. M

What the cons if it being non laminated screen? Does it scratch easily and can the screen be replaced with a laminated one?

It does not scratch easily. If you want one with a laminated screen I believe the next version has that. It may also have a 4k bonded screen. More expensive. This tablet is a solid winner in my book. When the matte screen protector wears out…peel it off and get another one. I replaced the film on my other 24”tablet(not Huion) and it worked out fine. Depending on how much you use, the durability of the film, and drawing style will all be a factor. M

Did you ever try their new slim pen? Supposedly has better initial activation and pressure curve

Is it multitouch? does it support hand gesture for pinch zoom in out and rotation?

No…not this model. I do believe they offer a model with touch.

I assume this is the regular none-plus version? How do you find the parallax? Very few people seems to buy the none-laminated display.

Yea…bottom SKU no frills. Parallax not too bad…but at that price point and size I have used much worse in my professional studio. My Wacom 22hd has terrible parallax. Still used it for years to make a living. This is a solid unit. No complaints. M

hey thank you for the review, this one seems to be pretty nice! I have a question about the drawing experience though, are there bubbles that emerge under the film at the spots youre drawing at? I saw someone complain about it, is it really that big of a deal? also, I cant find proective film replacements for the 24" models, any idea where I could buy them? 😅

Most of the time there are no bubbles. They went away and are no longer present. There is a company that sells replacements as well as Huion. I cannot remember the company(I will have to look it up) as I had to replace my XP pen 24. My Wacom 21ux also had to be replaced. The film they use is not forever I guess. M

I just set mine up and running into an annoying behavior quirk. It appears that the pen button "clicks" only register reliably if the tip of your stylus is a few mm off the surface of the screen, MUCH closer than the range needed for the pen's cursor to activate. This makes it almost impossible to do navigation in programs that rely on holding RMB or MMB to pan/zoom/rotate the view. I've made a couple of videos that demonstrate the issue and curious if anyone else has experienced the same thing. My hope is that I've received a bad unit that can be replaced since I LOVE this thing aside from this deal-breaker problem.

@@mgvfx no sweat. I have asked for the Xencelabs unit(as I reviewed both of the smaller side tablets…not the display) and they have not sent me one yet. I suggest installing an older driver and see if that works. They are owned by UGEE that also owns XPPen. Sometimes XPPen drivers are quirky. If I ever get my hands on the Xencelabs display tablet…I will definitely do a review. M

15:51. Of course, bubbles aren't a problem if you step up to the 24" plus, which uses actual etched glass, instead of a screen protector. You're also getting a laminated display, and a larger color range as well. Might be worth the extra $130. 16:08. You're not going to see hardly any heat at all from an LED panel (which is what makes LED so awesome). I'm not at all sure the "heat from the screen will bake it out".

Sir, Can it be comparable with xp pen artist 24 pro in terms of drawing performance ?

Also for long term if there is no budget issue then which device should I use- cintiq 24 pro or xp pen 24 pro ? I will use the device for at least 6 hours per day. I want the device to last about 8-10 years without any pen performance issue.

@@user-zm5ss6uk5c if price is no issue…then go for the one that has the best options for you. 8-10 years is a huge number. I typically work on a 5 year tech cycle. But…I did have a Wacom tablet last for over 10 years. In terms of quality…XP pen is getting better. Only time will tell if the 24 pro will last. I have the XP pen 24 pro and I had to replace the coating/film after 1 year. I still use it every day and it is epic. But…I just don’t know about 10 years down the road. I have had mine just over 2 years. So…up to you. Xencelabs also makes a 24” display tablet. I would also consider them in the running and the Huion. What’s best for you will have to be up to you.
