This review helped me make a decision on which drawing tablet to get. I got the Huion 16. I’ve never had a tablet before. Only my iPad with Luna display to use photoshop as my only comparison. I think for the money it’s a great buy. Feels good. Functions well. My work flow doesn’t require smoothed lines so I haven’t noticed any wobbling. I love it! Plenty big at 16.

I blame you for my recent Huion Kamvas 22 purchase haha

We've been at that point for a while. I got my first tablet display from Wacom, the 12WX and not only was it teeny with awful and I mean AWFUL color calibration even after trying to calibrate with the Spyder, it also cost $1,000 Now we're at the point you can find laptops, tablets etc under $600 that are portable but also far larger tablets for oddly cheaper. I got the kamvas 22 Plus and have used it nearly every day for 2 years and it's vastly better than the wacom stuff I've had exp with. It's not cheap but neither is being an artist in general. I feel like brad got a bum tablet since I saw a reviewer Teoh Yi Chie review this model and not have issues with the wavy lines and that guy, is crazy throughout with his reviews. That's not a sass at Brad- he legit does solid reviews but Teoh really goes hard with detailed reviews

I'm getting back into digital art. I stopped traditional drawing or any type of art when I got out of college. That was about a decade ago and these drawing displays weren't really a thing at the time, and if they where they cost more than a grand and up. I think this will be a nice reentry tablet to get myself back into art in general. I do love traditional art significantly more but I don't have a studio to work in so digital is the way to go for me.

I did purchase the kamvas 12 so I'm excited to see your review

nice to see their new model is a single smooth plane that covers the entire surface. my 156hd has a separation 1cm away from the screen. not really a problem, even less a problem since i covered the tablet in matte plastic anyway but it's still nice to watch.

@@fadwamin4835 i gave up on huion tbh, I just bought xp pen innovator 16 😍 it's so sofisticated and lightweight can't wait to try it. They say huion pro pens are slightely better compared to xp pen. But xp pen customer service is way better and bro it has 8 buttons + 2 wheels. I didn't draw on it yet but when I try it I will tell you my opinion on it.

Oh, is 120% sRGB too little? I just got one, can still return it (and am considering that because it has some issues) - if I return it should I definitely get one with 140% sRGB? I want to design stickers so I really, really don't need a big tablet, however color accuracy is VERY important to me, especially for printing, since it's sticker you know. I want to make some premium quality stickers. Thank you in advance for your advice!

@@essennagerry 120% sRGB is quite decent and will work for most stuff, but of course there's always room for improvement.

I own the last Kamvas Pro 16, and I think it's great, in many ways I prefer it to the Cintiq I use at work.

How do you like it?

I've been planning on starting the illustrations for my childrens book for a while now, but am reluctant to start it because of how long I anticipate the process will be with traditional mediums. I'm a perfectionist when it comes to my art and having to scarp so many drafts has been a real time sucker. After some time and research into the best drawing tablets for a good price, I decided to go with this one. This will be my first time delving into digital art making, but I think it will be the most streamlined way to publishing and quenching my thirst for artistic perfection. Thanks for the review, it was very helpful! Hope everyone has/will have a good experience with it :)

Now that it has been a couple of years since it released, and definitely some driver updates, does it still have that line wobble or is it gone? I've been saving up for almost a year now for a good tablet and I'm wanting this one. Btw, if you're gonna (greatly) help me with testing it, can you test it like the way brad did? Meaning using freehanded lines, then a slow line using a ruler. Thanks!

im a 14 year old artist and i just want to say thank you because i plan to buy this tablet within the next year ive have 2 digital tablets a Wacom Intuos 6in x 3.7in and the tablet that i have right now is a gaomon M10K pro 10in x 6.25in and i find it even after about 3 years of doing digital art its still difficult for me to draw that way ive been doing traditional since i started drawing which was when i was in kindergarden lol and i would love to start with this tablet for a screen display thanks for the review i wanted to see how big it was visually and the quality your review really helped me make up my mind i also got clip studio for christmas so i thought that a new tablet would also help me as an artist thanks!

I haven't seen this specific example, but sometimes those matte screen covers create a graininess to the screen. I had this on an old Fujitsu convertible laptop and was really happy when I realized I could take it off. I have a Wacom tablet now that also has the graininess, but there isn't a removable screen protector as they somehow built the matte look into the screen itself. It bothers me a lot personally as the screen just doesn't look as sharp as it should. I can use any other device to draw (Note 10+, Samsung S7+, iPad) and none of them have that graininess so it looks so much better.

@@richarda3764 yes they might look better but at the expense of having an smooth glass surface with zero resistance when drawing. I had an iPad Pro that i sold because drawing with plastic on glass is horrendous experience. There is a a reason that all screen drawing tablets come with some sort of matte treatement.

How is the tilt on this version? I recently got the 16 Pro (coming from a 24HD Cintiq) and drawing at different angles really showed the Huion's weakness :( Constantly redoing lines becuase of the tilt offset being almost 3mm away from where Im drawing is really a big downside for me with the 16 Pro

i am glad to say after 2 years working on a not screen tablet i am getting the huion kamvas 22

I'm going to get my first drawing tablet soon. I do 3D modeling/rendering work (on a desktop), but want to get into 2D artwork, and this is the perfect size since it would fit in the backpack I use to lug my laptop around (not that I travel much anymore), and would be comfortable in a lap for my awkward setup/seating position. The big question is whether you would suggest this Kamvas 16, or the XP Pen Artist 15.6? If they are so super similar that it's down to a coin flip, I like the twist knob on the XP Pen more than a slider, but love the aesthetics of the Kamvas and its pen holder. Any preference and reasoning? Minor quibbles or detail differences that could sway someone who uses it daily?

@@Kamiey Im stuck between the same models as well. I haven't bought it yet but I'm going for the Huion Kamvas 16 (2021). Based on the reviews I found, it has slightly better drawing experience with less wobbly lines. Im not sure where are you from but from my place its cheaper than the xp-pen artist 15.6 pro. Its priced roughly around $310 here compared to the xp-pen priced roughly $465. Personally, i dont use the dial thingy that often so Im good with the xpress keys on the huion.

I don't understand. What is the difference between a Huion Kamvas 16 and a Huion Kamvas Pro 16? The naming schemes for many pen displays are too similar... kamvas 16, kamvas 16 2021, kamvas 16 pro, kamvas 16 2.5k, kamvas 16 4k, and I feel like I missed some? idk. The comments seem to favor kamvas pro 16, but this video wasn't for the pro version right?

@@yanadnadya the screen is smooth and not slippery at all, it has a little bit of texture to it. I have a light hand, and no scratches so far!

Great review as always Brad. Since the release of this model I found a retailer selling the Kamvas pro 16 with a big discount so took the plunge. It hasn’t arrived as yet and starting to doubt I’ve made the right choice. Do you think I should return the pro 16 and look to purchase the new 2021 model? Do you think the drawing experience is better on the new model?

@@m.a.a_artwork I personally didn’t get on with the Kamvas pro 16 and returned it. It’s built really well and looks lovely but the drawing experience was flawed. The pen nib felt really loose like a ball point pen with the spring missing. And there was an issue where the markings on the screen wouldn’t match where I placed pen tip. It would be off by a couple of millimetres especially around the sides of the screen. Whether this is the same for the new model I don’t know. I believe they have changed the pen tip for the latest model so it’s much more firmer. After returning mine I found a deal on the Wacom 16 (none pro model) and would recommend it. The drawing experience is much more natural and feels accurate. It doesn’t have some extras like touch screen or additional input buttons but feels good to draw on which is the main thing.

Just ordered my Kamvas 16 (2021), for the price it seems like a solid deal. I didn't want to go above $400 as Im starting out in digital art. Im currently using a super cheap xp-pen pen tablet so this should be a nice upgrade :)

@@braindeadotaku3520 I think it's great, it does everything I could want it to do besides touch and that doesn't bother me. It stays pretty cool except the top right part where it can get a little warm, but nothing worrisome. The screen size is great for me, of course a higher resolution would be nice but at this price it's perfect for me. The pen is pretty comfortable, every now and now i get some lag on the pen but it fixes itself pretty quickly. Yeah, overall i think it's great and worth a shot if your interested.

I mean, this tablet can probably do anything you'd want so it's just how many more features you want and how much more your willing to spend. For me this was the sweet spot.

Thank you for the review! I bought the XP Pen Pro 12 in December in their sale, however the screen has broken on it already, flickers horribly and actually has an after image showing. I'm returning that for a refund and am looking for something else. I will miss the scroll wheel on the XP Pro, but this looks like it could be a nice step up! :)

I like using touch gestures to pan, zoom in and out, and rotate the canvas view. Does Huion make any drawing tablets that allow touch gestures? Does the pen have any shortcut buttons that I can assign to undo and redo?

Hi Brad, I just bought the kamvas rds 160, which is basically an upgraded color gamut kamvas 16 2021 with the same kind of pen model. I want to ask about the pen performance, if this pen ranks at a solid B+, how does it stacks up to wacom pens (without the smoothing feature)? Does wacom pen have no line jitters even when drawn slowly and without smoothing?

I started using a pen tablet (non-display one) many years ago, but I really used it during COVID. Using a whiteboard is fantastic. I used to sketch previously and tried digital painting, too. It is a hobby, and I mainly do it to relax (the same as I do with sketching). As I am travelling a lot now, I was thinking of buying a USB-C display. I am very used to two monitor setups both in my home and office. I think with the price it will be very hard not to buy this even for casual use.

I heard there were some problems making the previous version of this tablet work with ToonBoom.. any idea if that’s fixed?

I currently have the huion kamvas pro 16 and i have so many problems with it. Sometimes it will register me putting the pen on the display when im merly hovering over the display. It also has some damaging in the middle shows blue ish hazy streaks (this tablet is a replacement tablet i got from huion after my first 16 pro malfunctioned and had a purple colored screen). With the sale going on right now I'm thinking of either uograding or sticking the the 16 pro. Which one should i stick to? Just buy another 16 pro or the 16 2021?

so... I'm really confused about the diffrences between the 16 2021 and the 16 pro 2019... Looking at the specifications on the website, the 16 2021 seems to be just a minor improvement over the pro 16 2019 and comes at a lower price. But it seems like you were more satisfied with the 2019, but that may be because it was a bigger positive difference between that and the model before it? If anyone reading this has experience with eighter or both, i'd like to hear it!

Just to clarify, since I'm paranoid about getting screen protectors on my devices, it sounds like the matt finish comes as a pre-installed screen protector? I just have to be careful not to peel it off accidentally along with the factory plastic I'm supposed to peel off? I'm thinking about getting of these 2021 versions, do they still hold up for the 320 dollar price I'm seeing? I almost ordered a Wacom One, but the USB C port apparently doesn't use any of the USB C functionality, a dealbreaker and kinda deceptive marketing if you ask me.

I just bough an tab s6 lite, should i get this or that? I like the portability but if this is waaaaay better ill get this. (Edit: i just noticed that i dont have an hdmi port on my pc, so i would need to buy an extra hdmi to dp connector

What is the view angle like? I had a Huion 2019 22" pro. Could not deal with the screen at all. The color and view only seemed accurate in the center of where your head is relative to the screen. So I had to constantly reposition to look at any given part of the screen and it not look completely out of whack. Unlike a normal monitor where it has an even brightness, contrast across the view. I assumed it was their anti-glare coat.

I had a question, does it also work with other programs like adobe illustrator or autocad?

Brad can you awnser me this question. I saw a review from another video, this woman who was review had issue with the pen being not accurate as she draws. The mouse was 4mm gap below the pen. She fixed it right after, did you had this issue too?

I'll be purchasing my first display tablet and am torn between this and the Kamvas 22. Is there a huge difference in size going up from 16 to 22? Am inclining towards this 16" model.

Just take pieces of paper and cut the sizes of them to see the diffrence. The pixels are going to be a lot more visible in the 22, since it has the same resolution. You have to decide if you want to have a lot bigger screen to draw on, or a lot more sharp display. I am pretty much in the same situation and I think I am going to go with the 16 :)

Hey how come you still wear those gloves when you draw? I thought it doesn't need palm rejection cos it only works with the pen :O?

Brad i have last year's version and i love it still. But how do you calibrate a pen display to match the laptop's. Is there a link someone can point me to? Oh yea keep the Glove dance, i love it!😂😂😂
