Hughes MD-500 Helicopter Turbine Engine Start Procedures, startup, Oahu Hawaii Helicopter Tour
Island helicopter tour of Oahu. This was a beautiful helicopter tour conducted with Paradise Helicopters, located on the Turtle Bay Resort up on the North Shore of Oahu. Interesting brief ground school training of how the turbine helicopter engine works on the MD500. Explains how to start the turbine engine and what to look for while initiating the start procedures. This helicopter is painted in the traditional Magnum PI livery from the 80s.
Helicopter tours in Hawaii are exhilarating for sure. SCUBA diving Hawaii is just as fun.

That landing was bad ass! No slow grandpa behind the stick approaches with this pilot. He's got some good piloting skills, I'd love to go on one of his flights.

Jeff, this Oahu-based helicopter tour company is one-of-a kind. You won't find this type anywhere in the islands. Like having a rich uncle with his own helicopter in his backyard. Josh nails it all the time. Highly recommend.
Out of every video that I watched on here with people giving the basic instructions for starting a turbine helicopter this guy actually made look so much easier than every other video on here did not over complicate things great video

I love the 500D.. had a fun flight heli-boarding once in New Zealand..the helipad was on the edge of the mountain on the skifeild at 7185 ft asl. We lifted off and the pilot without pausing to hover immediately did a barrel roll / pedal turn over the edge and flew down the steep mountain slope to build up speed.
Young, living in Hawaii, flying helos for a living...viva la vida!

Magnum PI Sweet little helicopter. I wish I could afford one. Good walk through. Delta Force operators like it too

I was crew chief/door gunner on Hughes 500 loh RVN 68-69. Flew doors off except during monsoon. Got some unauthorized stick time and it was a blast. Best of times, worst of times!
The original "Magnum" helicopter, I believe, was wrecked in a crash some years ago thankfully the pilot survived. It DID crash and caused considerable damage during the making of the series killing one of the programme makers on board. Nice to see the paintwork, a nod to a famous show and helicopter which we all wished we could fly and own..

There was another crash the pilots name was Tiny they were lifting a ac unit where the helicopter had a loss of tail rotor effect and it went down no one killed but the ground crew saved Tiny's life by lifting the helicopter out of the water and helping Tiny out to safety
If that was the only thing I did on the island on vacation, that would be perfect! :)

When viewing the outside I was thinking to myself "That bird has the same color scheme as T.C.'s chopper from Magnum, P.I." .............then on the inside it says "Magnum Edition" haha

Manual release lever for the cargo hook which is located on the belly of the aircraft.
