@@TheAstroflight--Notice that NONE of those "women" stated that they were raped or filed a police report at the time/ The alleged events supposedly occurred during a time when women were NOT being shamed by defendants and lawyers as was true prior to the 1960s. The "swingers" era (Cosby's cohort was on the leading edge of it) was a free-wheeling time, coinciding with "sex and drugs and rock n roll". Those women were willing to trade sex for assistance with their careers. Keep that in mind.

trf12567 English accents are not higher than American ones, British people just tend to use more pitch. They usually have a more sing-song way of speaking, while Americans start sentences high, end them low and rarely deviate. Using a wider variety of pitches might give you the illusion it’s higher. I certainly tend to go higher when mimicking an American accent though, I tend to go for the whiney Valley-girl cliche

If the punchline of the story is true, then this is an old South African joke too. Considering it was a South African handler, I would guess the guy used the punchline of that joke on Hugh. It is a joke about the safari survival guide on dangerous animals. It goes through two or 3 genuine sounding survival tips to throw you off the scent of it being a joke. Then the punchline is the Lion one.

J Whippet My wife noticed the same thing with the Welsh actor Matthew Rhys who used an American accent in “It’s a beautiful day”. That voice was at a lower octave then when he spoke with his native accent. Fascinating.

amal zuhair I do feel privileged that I got to know him and his work prior to House so I knew of (and could appreciate) his extra effort in that series on top of the rest of his performances in that series. Plus I avoided this schism you are feeling/describing which I totally understand.
