Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
The day started out great, first pass was very promising, but unfortunately we had a parts failure on the second pass that led to a crash and a lot of damage to the vehicle.

Glad no one was hurt. Hopefully you can get the car fixed soon. Live and learn…. That’s racing 🏁
Call me crazy but I think I probably would have shut it down just as soon as I lost the front tire, I sure wouldn't have taken it to the end that's for sure

So the front end breaks and you don't notice it and continue the run? Doesn't seem wise to me.
Having wrecked my 93" wheelbase T Roadster drag car at 128 thru the trap when left front spindle decided to come off the axle...the first thing I did, as a passenger, at that point was to kill my electrical.
Glad everyone is ok! Car can be fixed.

having driven an Altered for 14 years I can say on mine it was very hard to see the front tires, but I would have seen it come off the car.

That's what I'm thinking. Front end is so light under load and didn't see the tire exit the wheel. Probably had no idea it was gone until the parachute deployed.
Why the hell did he stay in it after the left front checked out? That was straight silly. Cost him a nice car.

Only idling at 2k, pretty normal for a blower car of this caliber.
Great looking altered, hope they put it together and try again.

I have to believe with that tire shake he didnt even see the wheel leaving and with a new blower combo, probably figure its driving different, but cars do tend to drive on 3 wheel at any given time. So i can see why he kept his foot in it alittle to long.

Why run that out?
Lucky day at the track.
It looks like the throttle hung open ?? The wheel left the car early in the run ... but the run continued ? Glad you're ok .
@SlyFox9194

Driver stayed in the throttle to prevent a nose dive/possible endo.
Did it break both kingpin bosses off the axle? Was it excessive scrub radius or caster or both that started the low speed death wobble!

Driver side spindle sheared off at 100' out, then he drove it the rest of the way, after 1/8mile slowed it down and it drove into the wall, causing the other front spindle to break off on impact.
Personally...I wouldn't run modern slicks on an old style dragster like that. They're WAY too sticky which means tire shake...or wheelie WAY down the track. Back in the day the fuel altered's would smoke the hard compound tires for most of the run which is slower but also tends to help keep the front tires down where they can actually have an impact on where the car is going.

@@LeskoBrandon-kv9is I didn't say anything was right or wrong...just that I wouldn't run wrinkle-wall slicks on an old short wheelbase car like that. You do you and have fun! Maybe after you shake the car apart a few times you'll come to agree with my thoughts. Or not. Be safe Brother!

@@recoilrob324 We run many events a year ... all cars use 'wrinkle-wall' tires . It is often said "you can't drive a car that is shaking , but you can drive a car that is spinning" So yes - shaking is a concern and wheel speed is the cure . I don't know a thing about the car in this video , but every car that we run against has to be certified to run in their class . We are certed down to 6.0 - they may appear vintage , but yet we must meet current safety standards . If you have not already done so ... look up 'extreme top fuel' . Quite a show !! And it's all done on a 12" tire .

I run hard slicks on my bantam. They make it easier to brake also.
Just a suggestion, Try backing into the water and then heating the slicks from a stop.

What exactly does that do different?
@LeskoBrandon-kv9is
24 күн бұрын
@@tireballastserviceofflorid7771 There are a few reasons why lyle's advice is good . 1) the whole burnout process will happen at a much lower speed ie:safer. 2) the front tires won't be able to drag water forward of the water box. We run a front engine dragster and we pull thru the water very slowly , stop just past and then do the burnout . Works perfect . The idea of a high speed burnout makes no sense (at least to me :>)
@tireballastserviceofflorid7771
24 күн бұрын
@LeskoBrandon-kv9is Well, I have seen 1000 burn outs 80 different ways. 95% roll through and light it up. And 99% of those are good runs. I see your point but a proper burn out fast or slow heats the tires and cleans the tracks. Not sure it is as critical as you might think. About 600 things could have caused that wheel hop. I probably would have shut it down way early and ran again.
@LeskoBrandon-kv9is

@@tireballastserviceofflorid7771 Yessir ! There are many ways that work well . We prefer the slower speed burnout as it lessens the chance of the 'last 20 feet wiggle' that often occurs . One thing for sure ... if a tire falls off the run is over !!
Seen one similar to this down in Florida about 12 years ago.. old 32ish flord.. super nice..WAS! Destroyed the entire car! He said he finshed it the night before, paint wasn't even cured.. DESTROYED IT. STRAIGHT INTO THE WALL ABOUT 300 FEET OUT. Tires spun and he didn't let out.

So, why did the wheel come off?
@SlyFox9194
24 күн бұрын
The Spindle broke.
Front wheel comes off and the driver stays in it, constantly accelerating. Even if the throttle hung open how about a kill switch? How about brakes? This guy shouldn't be anywhere near a track. He could have very easily crashed into the other car.
